Sunmar Landscaping

If you are doing ANY concrete landscaping work around your property I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you get Sunmar Landscaping to do the job. My mother in-law suggested I get a quote from Sunmar as they recently poured a lot of concrete for her and she was extremely pleased with their work. I saw how great a job they on her property so I gave them a call to get a quote. Mario came by, measured everything up, gave suggestions and left the decision to us. We loved his quote and ideas and decided to go with them.

They did a lot of work here. They did concrete around our newly installed pool, both sides of the house, the front porch and the driveway. They also did a little sitting in front of our bay window. This job was not easy as they had to deal with challenges due to the way the pool was installed (sand bottom and back-filled by the pool company with dirt rather than gravel). Mario, his experienced sons Brandon and Jonathan and their crew Luis and Rick did an outstanding job making sure that the patio around the pool drains towards the nearest easement without making the grading obvious. We have had several heavy rainfalls this summer since the patio was installed and I can tell you that everything drains perfectly due to the expert grading job that these guys did.

They excellent communicators right from arranging the first meeting to implementing the design. They have lots of experience so they have lots of ideas to share about landscaping and what would looks good. They are up to date with modern landscaping styles so when they provide suggestions they are based on current trends and designs. That said, we LOVE the stone that they suggested for the coping around the pool and they did a SUPER job cutting the angles to make sure they fit snug. In fact we loved the stone so much we went with it on our front porch and front porch steps. Really makes the front of our house look more elegant. That was Mario's suggestion...him and his sons definitely have a eye for design!

It has been about a month since they job was finished and neighbours , some from way down the street and who I have never met, are constantly commenting on our property, the concrete, the expertly cut stone and how clean everything looks. They tell me they want Sunmar for their future projects.

So when you are getting your quotes be sure to get a quote from Sunmar. My family and I have worked with several landscaping companies over the years and in my opinion they are simply THE BEST Landscaping company working with concrete in the GTA, no questions.

There don't seem to be lot of recent reviews for this company so we thought we would leave one to highlight what an AMAZING job these guys did on our front porch steps under the excellent leadership of Mario and his knowledgeable and experienced sons.

For this project Sunmar redid our front steps and redid our driveway. They have done work for us in the past so we were confident that they would do an excellent job for us again. Despite knowing how great they are we still did our due diligence and got some other quotes but Sunmar beat them all in price and in the end we are SUPER happy with the results and quality of their work.

They are easy to reach by phone. If I ever got the answering machine then they always called back in a timely manner either on the same day or the next morning, depending on how late I called. Mario gave great suggestions on how to make the porch look more modern and we decided to put down beautiful stone work. This really gives our front porch character and brings the front yard up to 2023.

The crew was lead by Mario's son Brandon whose post secondary education is in landscape design. He is extremely knowledgeable and is always thinking one step ahead to issues like drainage, grading, aesthetics, etc. He is full of ideas and bounced ideas off his dad and us. As the foreman he regularly communicated with us on every aspect of the project and with his team. The crew know their stuff and did an outstanding job on our front porch work and driveway.

Our front step is very high...8 steps! ALOT of concrete was poured and made beautiful by these guys. A drain pipe goes through the steps, emptying water into a flower bed. It is master class work and everything was beautifully and carefully sealed by Mario's son, Jonathan who has years of experience in full-time landscaping.

WE ARE SO HAPPY! I would definitely use this company again and it is with the utmost confidence that I recommend them for your concrete / stone work. In fact, I recommended them to my daughter and my son in-law for their new pool, driveway, side paths and porch. I know that my daughter and her family will be just as happy as I am.

Everyone at Sunmar is fantastic. Their work is second to none and they truly care about their customers and their satisfaction.
Mario and his team showed up on time and worked long days to get the job done on time. They have an incredibly hard working team who are respectful and knowledgeable. We ran into some tricky spots with drainage and Mario was quick to come up with a solution and even supplied additional materials to complete the job. The final result was outstanding and many of the residents in the area have since used Sunmar with the exact same experience.
This is an extremely reliable team that delivers superior results and can be trusted with any project.
I highly recommend Sunmar to anyone who is looking for a high quality result from an experienced and trustworthy company.

I notice there are no recent reviews for this company and I wonder if its because Mario doesnt seem to have an active role but leaves his sons in charge.

My neighbours asked them to redo their front steps and driveway and had used them to do work when their home was first built a number of years ago.Thinking that was a good recommendation, I asked them to reseal my patterned concrete patio. Before they started the job they requested to be paid in advance. In doing so, they burned the grass around the patio with the acid used to prep the area. They also didnt say when theyd return to put the furniture back. We had to put most
of it back ourselves.

The worst part of this debacle is they are difficult to reach by phone; messages are not returned and they dont seem
to communicate within their team. While doing the
work for my neighbours they splashed concrete
over my planter (which I cannot remove) and I have their footprints all over my driveway! My neighbour was so disappointed with their work and
poor response after asking them to clean up their mess. They did do a small repair on my patio.

I would never use this company again and certainly not recommend them.

Mario was great to work with. He had a lot of great ideas and is very knowledgeable. The crew respected my house and my neighbors when working. I would definitely recommend Sunmar for all of your concrete needs

Had our driveway done by Sunmar in aggregate concrete. It looks amazing and we have received several compliments from neighbors and people just out for a walk. Highly recommend Sunmar.

PLEASE READ BEFORE CHOOSING THIS COMPANY!!!
I had this work done 3 short years ago. We had our stairs and veranda resurfaced with natural stone. My husband noticed that a stone on the step had actually come off of our steps on Monday July 16. I was surprised that this would happen after only 3 years but figured that I would contact SunMar and it would be a quick fix. On Tuesday July 17 I spoke to Maria and she assured me that Mario would be out later that day to look/fix it. On Thursday when nothing had been done I called, left a message and no one bothered to respond to me. So I called again Friday. Maria seemed a little annoyed and told me that she told me that Mario was going to be around later that day to fix it. So I just said thank you and let it go. When Friday came and went I called on Monday and left yet another message asking her to let me know if Mario would be able to come later that day or Tuesday and if he could not make it I'd appreciate her telling me so that I could find someone else to repair that work. NO RESPONSE!! I am BEYOND disappointed. Although I was initially satisfied with the work they did I can not in good faith keep such a glowing review. I would not recommend this company. I have enclosed a picture of where the stone actually came all the way off from the step. The stone is resting on the top veranda step.

Thank you Mario and Maria for making this landscaping job painless and easy. I heard of Sunmar through my mom and after having a terrible time trying to pin down a landscaping company to do the job I decided to give them a call. Right from the get go I knew things were going to go well. I told Maria and Mario what I envisioned for my front and back yard, and they immediately got it. They were at my house within three weeks of that initial consultation. My husband and I were away on vacation and came back to this beautiful house!!! What we had done: Interlocking path along side of house to deck, interlocking landing, reface veranda and steps with natural stone, removal of overgrown plants/gardens, lay down sod, pour concrete slab for future shed.
The outside of my house is finally starting to look the way I have always wanted it to! Thanks again to the Sunmar crew for their professional, quick and friendly service. Your attention to detail will not be forgotten!

This is our second job with Sunmar! We recently moved into a new home and we knew we needed help so we immediately contacted Sunmar Landscaping to do our front and backyards. We received the same excellent service and quality work as the first time. We have a beautiful walkway and gardens for our front yard and lovely trees and fence for a backyard. We would highly recommend Sunmar to anyone and will continue to use them!

Mario and his team were fantastic. We had a sidewalk in the front and a large patio in the backyard done in exposed aggregate. They were on time, on budget and very easy to work with. They even built a ramp for my wife who was on crutches at the time to make sure she could get in and out of the house during the project. Some of our neighbours have now called Sunmar to have work done by them and they are very happy as well. I would definitely recommend Sunmar to anyone looking to have landscaping work done.
