Inconsistent work, no gravel used on the stairs

The job was done really quick, completed in two and a half days. I was happy with the way it looked...until two weeks later, I come to find out that the job was not finished properly.

Gravel was put under the entire deck frame with the exception of the stairs...as a result, grass is growing through the steps.
Unclear how this can be considered a completed job?
Now discussing this with John has been nothing but a headache. He refuses to send someone to put the gravel I bought under the stairs,

Buyer Beware...avoid this company.

Quick but poor quality

John and his team were quick and efficient with the demolition and rebuild of our deck. Shortly after completion, boards started buckling and John ignored all requests to rectify the situation. I was not expecting perfection, but I was expecting it to be in great shape for at least a couple years.

Very disappointed with quality.

Deck Construction

Based on our experience, our Alpine Deck project reflects very poor quality design, construction and poor workmanship. Our deck (fairly small standing on a concrete patio with no post footings) was built in September 2020. We had to call John back the next day to correct obvious flaws which if inspected upon completion, he would have noticed. Had to have him back again in the spring of 2021 to again repair areas resulting from the elements of one winter season namely; loose stair backboards which were improperly secured with a proper backing, warping rails resulting from poor design and no support, posts twisting (which cannot be corrected), multiple cracked boards resulting from improper nailing and inferior wood quality and more.
John does not physically build the deck himself (nor does he do a quality inspection afterwards with the customer) .... just barks orders to his very amateur inexperienced crew. He just sets up his circular saw and does the cutting. I have concluded Alpine builds decks as inexpensively as possible taking every possible shortcut! Not sure where the positive reviews came from or how they were even possible. Maybe at one time in the past, they actually built a quality deck. Only reason I didn't give less than a one star rating ..... his dismantling crew did a good job in tearing down our old deck and hauling away the material. See my attached photos and decide for yourself if this represents the workmanship of a company that supposedly has been in business for 30 years (as advertised). Don't be miss-lead by the photos shown on the Alpine Deck website. Just trying to save other potential clients going through the disappointment, heartache and frustration we did.

Company Response

Angelo was a whiner from the very beginning.
He and his wife sat in chairs and watched like hawks the whole time we were there.
He accused me of purposely using inferior wood.
We did go back the next day to correct a post with the wrong angle on it, and this spring to do some repairs, and I even let him chose the wood from a selection from my truck. Yet he's still acting like a sour puss.
He is wrong about my website and experience. Every picture on my website I've built with my own hands, and sure I don't do much of the physical work anymore because I have 30+ years of knowledge in my head and my competent and experienced crew learns from me.

Deck with planters

John and his team were very professional right from the quoting stage to final build. I provided John with the drawing of my deck along with bench and planter features. John and his team executed the project as per the drawing and the whole project took a week from signing of the contract.
The Deck itself was completed in a day and the quality of the workmanship was good.
I have recommended Alpine decks to friends and our neighbors.

Great deck, built in a day or less as promised

We were looking at putting a deck in our backyard and started to reach out to various deck building companies. John was great and very responsive to all our requests through the whole process. They showed up a few days earlier and dug and poured the concrete forms. He said the deck would be built in a day and it wasn’t, it was built in 5 hours (they skirted the entire deck (14 by 16 feet) and added a ramp for our daughter who is in a wheelchair so she could access our above ground pool. Loving the new deck and Alpine Deck did a wonderful job!

2 level deck....nailed

Wanted a 2 level deck built around our trees and with storage underneath and got exactly that.
John and his team arrived on time to the second. Cost was exactly as planned and they took the time to build the deck around and even through our trees to not ruin them.

Will definitely be going back to alpine when extending deck and putting in planters.

Remove old deck and install new one

Recently John and his team removed our old deck and installed a new one. We are very happy with the service and quality. The project was completed on time as promised without any hassle. We paid exactly what was agreed. There were no hidden charges. After completing the work the backyard was cleaned well. We would highly recommend this company.

Deck rebuilding

John and his crew came at 7 AM as promised, with special tools, and like a Military Commandos, an old deck 25' x 12'... in 2 hours removed the old railings and planks, and where gone!...two days latter, at 7 AM, started rebuilding the deck, 3 hours latter all was done, they surely know what they are doing!, will recommend Alpine Deck, but.....DO NOT order low grade deck wood!....after just a week, my deck wood becomes to split, twist and splinter like crazy!....if I have known, would spend more $$ and use cedar wood!

Back yard deck

I had Alpine Deck build a deck for me to replace an old collapsed deck that had been removed recently. John came out to see the site and gave me a quote, also showed photos of what it would look like. Once the schedule was known, they were quick to have materials delivered and the deck was done the very next morning. Looks and feels great under my feet.
