Find Loose Connection in Circuit
This repair cost $459 even though it took only one-and-a-half hours and required no materials. It was 4.5 kilometres from the shop, and yet the rate included a $9 fuel surcharge (even though gas prices are currently low). When we first called about the bill, Brian told us it took a "chunk" of time. When checking with the tenants (who have no reason to misrepresent the time), we were told that the electrician was there from 10:00 to 11:30. When we said we would write a negative review, Brian said that he would respond that the tenant was not telling the truth, even before he checked with his electrician or the GPS which he says he puts on the truck. We are very, very experienced working with electricians who normally charge $75 - $100/hour. We own multiple buildings which we have renovated on a continuous basis, where we get quality work from all our service providers. The people who have given positive reviews on this website--if they were charged this much--obviously do not have a good idea of what electricians charge. $200 is more than sufficient for a small job like this. Yet, we were charged $459--bottom line--that's $270+/hour before tax.
This is the first negative review we have ever written on a service provider but Brian was angry and insulting--and only offered to reduce the bill $79--when we expressed our concerns (saying every other electrician was a "Cheap Charlie" who do not do good work even though we have always been pleased with our former electricians but simply went with Home-Pro since they answered the phone on Saturday and agreed to come on Tuesday morning). Now I know why they can provide quick service. They are not busy with people who are in the know or willing to wait.

Just to set the record straight: 1: The service fee for getting 1 of our electricians out there to the location is $79 (standard for most service co's) 2: We have a flat rate pricing fee of up to $319 to find a wiring problem, sometimes it can take several hours to find it, the fee does not necessarily change if we have to spend more time. 3: The GPS on the truck said our electrician was on route at 9:11am there at 9:43am & left at 11:56am. 4: We have a Truck fuel service (TFS) charge of $8.75 on all service calls regardless of where it is in our area. The total bill before tax is $406.75. When you look at the total time involved (almost 3 hrs) the costs were more than fair for a real service co offering 24/7 service. We always try to be fair & reasonable with our customers, as a gesture of goodwill we offered to return the $79 service fee which he refused and was not going to be satisfied until the bill was cut in half. We have done hundreds of circuit diagnostics similar to yours at the same cost with next to no complaints.
