This project may have been considered a disaster. I was looking at reconstructing an addition on my duplex. There were two major issues. First, the engineer that Jeff contracted wasn't very good. He was clearly lazy and did not draw plans adequately enough for obtaining permits in a timely manner. The project ended up being delayed, but Jeff did keep me in the loop with everything, including the firing of the engineer.
After we finally received the permit, everything was going really well until the City inspector came by and ordered the removal of the brick from the rest of the building. Jeff wanted to cut the contract short and would have left me in a really bad scenario. I did manage to convince Jeff to do the rest of the job, and he was able to provide some recommendations on companies to do the brick removal and a new deck. It was a very stressful project, but the job did get completed to my satisfaction. I can say that Jeff does do quality work, but we both learned a lot by doing this project.

It was one of the toughest projects I've dealt with. The city shut the entire project down due to unsafe brick facade on the existing structure. With my name on the permit I was sent legal documents from the city outlining substantial penalties and fines for not removing the brick within 24 hours. It had already been a week and the demolition company contracted still hadn't begun. As we were not allowed to work there for a month, and facing fines of $10000 /day I panicked. I tried to walk away. Chad convinced me to stay. I agreed to keep going and although the project timeline was a total write off we were able to complete the project and it's occupied and comfortable. You earned the right to this review and I'm glad you wrote it. It was a lesson for sure. But we made it through and are still on speaking terms. Haha.
