I Know A Guy Contracting Services Inc.

Our house was built in 2002 when oak was (apparently) all the rage. We purchased the house in 2007. By 2016, we were tired of the dated and dark kitchen. We had a limited budget so we turned to I Know A Guy (affectionately known as IKAG) for what we coined an ‘update’ vs a ‘renovation’. The goal was to modernize the kitchen without replacing the floors, ceiling or cabinets. A tough challenge but IKAG delivered - http://iknowaguyrenovations.com/

Lead times were tight as we started the process about a month before leaving on vacation and we wanted the majority of the work done while we were away. We made as many decisions as possible and then left it in the team’s capable hands. IKAG replaced the dated 2 tier island with a modern quartz design, painted the oak cupboards, replaced the backsplash, blew out the hood fan, installed new appliances and light fixtures and many other smaller items to finish the transformation.

The majority of the messy jobs were successfully completed while we were away (on time and on budget)! The quartz hadn’t arrived however so IKAG built us a fully functional temporary island top as they understood that we would crave some home cooking after being away. This is a testament to the willingness of this company to go over and above.

Although they are not the least expensive renovation company in Calgary, IKAG is extremely transparent in providing budgets along the way and getting pre-approvals on scope changes. No surprises!

I would highly recommend IKAG for busy clients who don’t have the time or desire to be involved in every detail. The in-house designer works to establish the vision and IKAG then sources and project manages all the trades to ensure a successful end product. This is a renovation company that CARES. They even sent a Christmas donation in our name to a local charity. They are like a member of our family and we will definitely be back.

We had a great experience with IKAG, who were recommended to us by a friend. We put a lot of trust in Jesse, Christy and the team to complete our reno while we were away on vacation.. and they more than delivered. We came home to a beautifully finished and spotlessly clean house. They were a pleasure to deal with at every stage of the process and went above and beyond to make sure we were completely happy with their work. Jesse even mowed our lawn and collected our mail while we were away!

To gain a sitting area to look out at our backyard pond we knocked out the hallway of our bungalow, eliminated a bedroom and completely opened up the living/dining/sitting area. This required some engineering to shore up the ceiling. We also completely re-did the kitchen - new cupboards, floor, appliances. A number of things impressed me about I Know A Guy: First, the pre-planning with trade walk-throughs so surprises could be reduced or eliminated and so scheduling of trades could be organized efficiently.Second, the workmanship was very good, and if it wasn't up to ours, or Jesse's, standards, it was redone without issue.Third, even tho we moved out for the project, great attention was given to minimizing dirt and dust in the remainder of the house.Fourth, the project was completed on schedule, and within budget.The ONLY reason I am giving four stars instead of five is because no one is perfect and there is always room for improvement. I believe Jesse would agree with those concepts. I was impressed with his integrity and professionalism throughout. In my (past) legal career I represented MANY homeowners, builders and contractors in construction disputes so I think I know what I'm talking about!

What a great company! We were very happy we chose I Know A Guy and team to do our renovation project.Their work was excellent. They worked closely with us to develop the vision, introduced us to all the sub trades and their schedules, kept the house clean during the reno and cleaned the whole house at completion! We would use them again and highly recommend to others.

They did an amazing job with the transformation, top to bottom. The tradesman they have are like family and care so much about the work they are doing. They are all so talented and really treat the project as their own home, thoughtful and respectful, clean and trustworthy. Jesse and Christy are wonderful people. You shouldn't do a project without consulting I Know A Guy first!

This is long overdue, but we would like to thank everyone at I Know a Guy (especially Jesse, Christy & Jordan) for the excellent work you did renovating the main floor of our approx. 1700 sq. ft. bungalow, especially the kitchen. From design to completion, Jesse & crew were responsive to our requests explaining options and limitations. These guys are full service. Even after completion, they are there to fix the minor issues that occur. IKAG is an excellent company with a group of trustworthy & courteous craftsmen. Our renovation was completed while we were living abroad-a bonus for us. Jesse & Christy worked closely with us to make this possible. I can't say enough wonderful things about Jesse, Jordan and Christy along with their amazing choices for additional contractors. Each and every person that came into our home during the renovation was professional, thoughtful, respectful and most of all skilled in their craft. Any time we expressed even the slightest concern or question, their response was swift and over and above the required action. Yvonne, the designer on the project, was wonderful to work with and helped make our visions a reality. We moved out of the house for the 3 months of activity, but Jesse kept us updated and we felt secure in his openness and responsiveness that all things were going as expected. The project was on budget, on time and made more of a difference in our everyday lives than we could have hoped for.

IKAG recently completed our kitchen reno. There is no question the trades they hire do exceptional work. Their designer Yvonne knocked it out of the park with her design and made suggestions we didn't even think of. IKAG finished our project on quote (to the penny) and on time (to the day).

Jesse, Jordan and Christy were great to work with and our new basement is beautiful. I am not sure you could easily find another contractor who considers customer service such a high priority in Calgary. They got everything done within a specific timeframe, communicated well and worked with us to quickly resolve anything that came up. Everyone they brought in was friendly, customer-oriented and committed to getting things done well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend IKAG!

We needed help with our basement reno and contacted "I know A Guy". From the initial conversation to the final meeting to confirm the project was complete they were true professionals. They even followed up to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. I was very impressed with how organized they were with everything. The quality of work was also very good and we got exactly what was quoted. The quoting was the part of the whole process that really stood out. Very, very clear and easy to understand.
