They did such a great job on redoing our basement, that we decided to redo our main floor as well! Now it's like we have a new house!

From planning to completion and every step of the way, the experience was excellent. The completed project meet my expectations....and exceeded them. They were willing to work with us to make changes as the project proceeded...whether it be because we wanted Changes or the workspace made them necessary. Always a pleasure to work with, very professional and meticulous and took extreme pride in their work.

We completely gutted our basement and selected Carpenters Mate to finish same with a Second Suite which includes a kitchen, living/dining room, bedroom which includes flooring & painting throughout and a custom washroom. They also completed our laundry area, capping of stairs and a separate recreation room which included new electrical panel, pot lights, etc. Luke took care of all drawings and permit application needed by City of Toronto and hiring of the sub-trades to do the electrical, plumbing, etc.

Luke, Bob and their sub-trades were very thorough & polite. They explained the processes and produced a very neat & functional space that we are enjoying.

We would not hesitate to recommend them to our friends and family and will definitely use them again if the need arise.

They installed new counter tops, new toilets, a new medicine cabinet and painted the existing vanities as well as the walls. They were very professional, did a good job and after cleaned up really well. They are now renovating my kitchen.

Our basement was completely gutted and remodelled to accommodate a legal basement apartment. Luke and his crew handled everything from dealing with the City (ex. permits, by-laws, fire inspections etc.) and subcontractors for other jobs (the driveway addition). They stayed on budget and when there were unexpected problems (ex. major electrical issues, crack in the foundation, missing support walls and beams), Luke found a solution at a reasonable price. Going through a renovation can be stressful and discovering your house has dangerous wiring and is structurally unsound is horrible but Luke guided us through the process and helped us understand our options. Luke was different than the other contractors we looked at (I interviewed 8 others). He used 3D technology to help us visualize our options and he listened to our ideas and when possible incorporated them into the design. His goal was to give us a beautiful basement apartment and his work went above and beyond.

I would highly recommend Carpenters Mate Construction. Not only is their work superb, with attention to every detail, they are also wonderful communicators, which made the whole process stress free. They take great pride in their workmanship and truly care about their clients.

They showed up and finished on the date agree upon. In my opinion they did grade A work. The supplier of our patio stones sold ours. They went and found alternatives which they sent to us since we were out of town. Always in contact throughout the process. When we came home both jobs were done and looked unbelievable. Took very good care of our house as well. Will be getting them to do more work and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

We converted a home to a legal duplex. They did the demo, did 3D rendition that was out of this world( well done Luke) then rebuilt the basement. Because of the workmanship and attention to detail we had higher bids then what we we asking for the rented space. I would recommend them to all my family and friends.

I paid Luke Kenney to do the Engineering Drawings, the permit submissions for the City of Toronto, Urban Forestry, and the Toronto Conservation Authority, and any revisions required to get it approved for deck design that I had made by an awesome designer.

He completed the drawings on schedule and asked for full payment upon submission of the plans to the city. I paid him (foolishly).

I then followed up with him for weeks on the status of my Conversation Authority Submission and my Urban Forestry Submission. He repeatedly assured me he was about to submit them....he never did....and he basically stopped responding to me.

I had to go back to my designer who helped me create all the documentation required for those submissions.

His lack of response cost me months in my design process and ultimately I had to pay someone else to make the changes to my engineering drawings. I asked him for a partial refund and I never heard back from him.

Overall, this was not a good experience.

They did a great work in my basement.
High level of workmanship and professional finish.
He presented rendering in computer graphic and it was exactly how i would imagined. I will use their service for my future reno needs.
