A motor blew on our less-than-10-year-old Maytag furnace. Technically, it was still under warranty, but the after-sale service from installer of the Maytag was so horrid we didn't even consider calling them. Not to mention, that company no longer deals with Maytag.
We called another repair/install company that was recommended by friends. The technician told us what was wrong and gave us a quote for a new furnace on the spot - a pre-printed form with pre-printed prices. I guess they only sell one type of furnace regardless of what the client needs.
I searched online and found Distinct. Their customer ratings were amazingly stellar, so I gave them a call. Nate responded quickly, came and gave us a quote. He said they were booked up for about 4 weeks due to a very successful homeshow, but he could install a motor right away that would hold us over and give us heat until he could install a new furnace for us. He was able to point out the mistakes that were made with the venting on the previous install that had killed our motor, and he said he wouldn't install a new furnace if we wouldn't let him fix the venting. While it was an added expense, we could see the value in having the job done right.
His team showed up exactly on time to do the install, they cleaned up after themselves and were so polite and well-mannered. A joy to work with.
The job came in exactly as quoted, which was higher than the other company, but did include fixing the venting (which the other company hadn't even commented on).
When our second furnace needs to be replaced, we'll be calling Nate at Distinct!
