Shayne Valinsky & Sons Landscaping

Shayne Valinsky and sons started our interlock raised patio and stairs project in September 2013. The stairs portion is still unfinished (July 2014) and also some caps came loose in the meantime and needed to be completed under the 3 year warranty. Shayne claims the warranty is null and void because he switched his company to Edinburgh Contracting which was not involved in the contract. So he is not going to finish the project and complete the repairs. This is very bad business practice. We need to look for somebody else to do the work.
We are really unhappy with the work ethic of Shayne Valinsky and the work quality of his team. We wouldn't recommend them to anyone. But in case someone hires them our advice is to buy the interlock material themselves not to have Shayne supply it. That was the mistake we made and he didn't bring what we agreed upon, but a lower quality. On top of everything he also doesn't honor the warranty he says he gives. Once he takes the money he doesn't care a bit. Our project spanned over 2013-2014 so far and is still unfinished. It is a small project and was supposed to be finished in 2 weeks. Since we paid, Shayne treats us with disrespect, postponing indefinitely the day he will come to correct the mistakes his team made. In the meantime a cap came loose and we brought that to his attention but no reply from him. There was also an accident, someone fell on the stairs because of it and he still didn't answer our emails. He is terribly unreliable person.
Here is our story:
We hired Shayne to do a interlock raised patio and 5 step stairs in our backyard. Shayne's team changed all the time and they did a lousy job. He might be a good worker but he didn’t do any work. His team of beginners did the entire job, or better said experimented, and made a lot of mistakes. Shayne doesn't answer emails or phone calls. He has a rude and intimidating attitude; brings lousy workers and then makes fun of the work they do, but does nothing to make things better. They started the work at our place in September 2013 and didn't finish it yet (as of July 2014). In May 2014 they had to redo the stairs because the caps they brought and installed in the first place were low quality and had manufacturing defects. Needless to say they didn't inspect them and installed anyway. Shayne did nothing to replace the caps within the manufacturer warranty. We had to call and arrange with the manufacturer to have the caps replaced. This should have been his job to do, once he saw what he brought and he didn't inspect and let his men install them. The manufacturer paid Shayne once again for the same work and he brought yet another team of beginners to replace the caps. Again the job done was not completed to satisfaction. Two steps are uneven and he pledged he will come to fix them in warranty that he gives. He didn't come and we patiently waited for 2 months. He was nowhere to be found, didn't reply to emails and in the end announced he would never come. He argued that he has another company and our warranty is with his former company and therefore void.
We are really frustrated with his attitude and the quality of the work his team has done.
