Often the measure of a company is what happens when something goes wrong.
We had our furnace, humidifier, air cleaner, and air conditioning unit replaced. The sales person was great. After asking us many questions, he suggested that we choose between two furnaces and explained the differences between the two. We went for the more expensive of the two high efficiency Lennox furnaces, which had a variable burner and fan speed. He didn't recommend the same level of air conditioner because it would never pay back given the relatively cool and short summers that we have here in Ottawa. We picked the basic air conditioner in the same "family" as our furnace, as well as a humidifier and an air purifier.
Installation was arranged quickly because our old furnace had failed after 24 years. Almost everything went smoothly but there was one minor cosmetic issue with the furnace installation and one technical issue with the air conditioner installation.
When the sales person returned to ask if we were completely satisfied, I mentioned these two issues. This is where, in the past, I've run into problems with some companies--they don't want to lose any profit after the job is "done". In this case, he simply said, "No problem", and said he'd get both fixed promptly. And he did, despite having to re-do part of the air conditioner installation to get at the problem. I was impressed.
I love the new variable speed, variable burner furnace. It is much quieter than the old furnace because it only runs the fan and burners enough to deal with the load. So, it can run more often but with less (thus quieter) air flow while remaining highly efficient by simply using partial burner and partial fan speed. And, it keeps the temperature more even than the old furnace did. It's a great idea. So much so, in fact, that part of me wishes we'd gone with the equivalent air conditioner even though it would never pay back financially.
All things considered, I'm very pleased with the purchase and the installation. Highly recommended.
