When we purchased our home in Ottawa, we were so excited, but we were overwhelmed when we realized the amount of work it needed. Our project involved structural repair, new addition, and the finishing of 4 bedrooms with closets, a laundry room, a guest bath, a master bath, and a walk-in closet. We weren’t sure how we were going to manage such a significant renovation alongside our hectic family and work lives. Blackwell Renovation’s team changed all of this for us. Even with our prior renovation experience, we had never experienced such a high level of professionalism and such attentive project management. To say that Blackwell goes above and beyond for their clients is an understatement. The team helped make our neighbours feel comfortable with the major construction project and they even gave them gift cards at Christmas to thank them for their patience!
Throughout our renovation, (for the first time in our lives!) we did not have to worry about a thing. The entire process from start to finish was stress-free because the Blackwell team treated our renovation as though it was their own, and it showed. It was evident that the entire team was always thinking about the best way to meet our needs, forecast future problems, and find the most cost-effective solutions - all while ensuring the highest level of craftsmanship. We got the most beautiful custom cabinetry and flawless installation of hardwood and tiles – not a corner out of place. The baseboard and window/door trims are seamless. There truly was no detail left behind. Above all, everyone who came into our home was an absolute pleasure to work with and even had a great senses of humor to boot! We have now finished the first phase of our Renos and there is no one else we would trust to complete phase II. We are clients for life!

This is the second time I hired Blackwell Renovations because a) They did an AMAZING job the first time! and b) They actually guarantee their work! I hired a different contractor before which ended up being a disaster (previously the plumbing was installed upside down and my 2 year old tiles cracked!) Ryan fixed everything and guaranteed it would not happen again or they will come back. He said they were installed incorrectly the first time and not to worry because he would fix everything and he did! Anyway, Ryan did an exceptional job with my custom kitchen, a downstairs apartment and bathroom! It is beyond perfection. Ryan and Paul are both OCD and pay attention to detail and literally cannot leave the task until it is perfect. He has also helped me up the value of my house with a few tips! Thank you so much!

RB Renovations converted our walk-in closet to a master bedroom ensuite in October 2018.
From the first time we contacted them until the job was finished, we were extremely impressed with the professionalism, care and attention given to our reno. They became an integral , and very much appreciated, part of the planning of our ensuite conversion. We settled on a start date and estimated duration of the project, and they showed up that day, ready to work. They dedicated a very talented craftsman to this project and they showed up every day thereafter to complete it. Any technical issues that arose, as there will be, were resolved by discussing with us the best solution.
The workmanship was superb and meticulous. They treated our home with the utmost respect, laying down dust mats and vacuuming their whole work area each day. Their cleanliness and courtesy was a real pleasure.

Thanks to RWB Renovations we now have an incredible bathroom. Ryan and his team were detailed oriented, helpful and professional throughout our entire experience working with them. We live in a very old house, where we wanted to keep the balance between having a fabulous new bathroom while maintaining some of the character and charm of an old house. Ryan and his team appreciated and supported this direction throughout the process. They worked hard every day. The outcome of their work was very high quality. They ensured they were happy with the quality of the product as if it were their own house. They left the house clean at the end of every day. In addition they were just nice to have around. Ryan and Paul were honest, professional, and paid attention to all of the small details throughout our full kitchen renovation. They also did a great job re-tiling the floors in several other rooms, installing additional cabinetry, utility sink, bathroom vanity, patching and painting. They demo'd the old shower, redid the drains, poured a new floor, redid the venting, framed and prepped a new shower enclosure, patched the drywall, tiled everything (really, really well) - in short, we started with a dirt floor and ended up with a new shower and a refreshed bathroom.

We live in an older home so have worked with many, many contractors. RWB are the best we have worked with. They are consummate professionals, do unimpeachably impeccable work, keep to budget and timeline, always kept us completely informed every step of the way, provided knowledgeable and reasonable advice and guidance, taking time to explain options when we didn't know what we were doing (which was often), and were a real pleasure to work with.

I was blown away by their work ethic. Paul did the tiling and when it turned out the patterns we picked were more complex than expected, he worked literally 12 hour days -including weekends- to ensure everything was done on time. Let me be clear: the added complexity was 100% our dumb fault, as novice homeowners who got dazzled by fancy tiles, but he still worked crazy hours to make sure it was done perfectly. Another example: there was a minor question about a small part near the entrance to our bathroom, and Ryan came in on his own time, on the weekend, so he could provide guidance in person and make sure everything would be done perfectly.

Our bathroom is literally the nicest room in our house now.

We would recommend them to anyone and they will be the first people we call any time we have other renos to do in our own home.

Our primary bathroom had some things we wanted changed including removing a bidet, getting rid of pink tiles, fixing problem grout issue/tiles in shower, etc so we had decided to completely renovate it. Ryan is the first contractor we've ever engaged (to do a renovation project) – we were extremely happy (both with Ryan and his colleague Paul) and here are some of the things that we most appreciated. Ryan's quote was clear and we liked that it broke down the total cost by task/item (it made it understandable and helped give us a sense of comfort about price). He was very receptive to what we wanted (re: design and cost). They were very careful, for example, closing garage door, locking the front door, putting down mats, taking shoes off, etc. Paul and Ryan were very considerate...checking with us to ensure we liked things (as they progressed), patient and sweet to our children, concerned about our schedule (regarding weekends and start times etc.) and were just generally always in a good-natured mood. Both Paul and Ryan were extremely conscientious: they seem to have very high standards (to the point of re-doing things that they were not happy with); they were thorough (in checking into things we asked about, and then discussing them with us); and they paid attention to the smallest finishing details (that we maybe wouldn't have even thought of or noticed). They were hardworking (long days, rearranging their plans when required, coming in on weekends, etc.). To wrap up...they kept us apprised of progress/steps, their work turned out beautifully, there were no delays and we had our bathroom back in service as soon as possible, they treated our house like it was their own, and the invoice was exactly what was quoted. We would absolutely use them again and have already recommended them to friends.

Working with Ryan and his colleagues was an extremely pleasant experience. The scale of the job was quite large but Ryan was not phased by the complexity nor the challenge in meeting our vision. He was able to stay on budget and on time with exactly what he estimated. Throughout the process Ryan kept us informed and ensured that any questions we had were answered. It was truly a pleasure having RWB redo our kitchen and we are ecstatic with the final results. You will not make a bad decision choosing RWB for your renovation needs. Highly rated. Rob were great to work with. He and his team were very conscientious and respectful of our home and quickly addressed any minor issues that came up. The attention to detail was exemplary and the final results were better than we had hoped for. Would definitely recommend this company.
