The work was completed in a timely and tidy manner. The tiles were set and grouted the same day and everything was clean and tidy so that I could host a dinner party and show off my new kitchen feature the very next day. ... I recently had my kitchen backsplash installed by Jamie from backsplashintaller.ca. Scheduling and organizing the project was a breeze. The backsplash was completed beautifully. All I can say is “clear, quick, effective and affordable. Simple as that!

Over the phone and on email - Jaimie seemed great - However when he came to install our kitchen backsplash he seemed like he had no idea and we were dissappointed.

Jamie looks like he didnt measure anything when he installed our backsplash. As you can see from the pictures underneath the cabinets nothing, is aligned. When I asked him why this happened he said new builds have cabinets that shift. When we asked him to correct his mistake he said 'no one will look under the cabinets".

The grout work was sloppy and he missed some areas to grout. We think he took our extra trim we purchased and some of the tile boxes left over as we we cant find them.

I found Jamie on Kijiji and I checked his references on Homestar. Let me tell you, he is very unprofessional backsplash installer, he doesn’t know how to professionally install the backsplash.

Jamie, didn’t plan anything, just opened the first box out of the 4 boxes of Marble Mosaic tiles and started installing. Either he wasn’t aware or he was just ignorant that the natural stone tiles aren’t the same like ceramic tile, natural stone tiles and have color variations so they need to be separated with closet color match then installed to get best color flow. I noticed that he is installing darker tiles on side and lighter color tiles on the other, when I asked Jamie the same he had no answer and when I advised Jamie that he should first go through the tile boxes and separate tile by color variation, his reply was that we should have done it before and he is not going to waste his time. Then I opened the boxes and separated the tiles by color variation.

Just to bring to future customers attention that Jamie doesn’t use tile spacers and leveler to make sure tiles are evenly spaced throughout and all the tiles are level.

Since Jamie didn’t use the tile spacer – Tiles in our backsplash are unevenly spaced.

Since Jamie didn’t use the tile leveling tool: The tiles in our backsplash are uneven and not smooth.

Jamie has no respect for your property like granite counter top, gas stove or floors. Jamie doesn’t bring and use protective covers to protect your appliances, counter top or floors.

1. He left our gas stove with splashes of grout and glue.
2. Grout was all over the counter top.

Also, Jamie uses water very irresponsibly. Since Cambridge has hard-water and we use water softener, Jamie left kitchen faucet running numerous times, one time I went to turn off the faucet. Just for Jamie’s information, water in Cambridge is very expensive, really very expensive.
Jamie has done very poor and unprofessional grouting job, there are spots left with no grout or not enough grout. And on top of this he left tiles full of grout for us to clean, it took hours for us to properly remove/clean the remaining grout from the tiles.

Now Jamie is telling to go buy grout., mix in a cup and repair the grout where it is missing or not enough. What a colossus waste of time and money hiring Jamie.

The person I had messaged with was a true honest person. I had done backsplash installation with someone else and he had not complained and offered to not take the money I had wasted for the project he was going to do for me. Jamie was excellent to work with!
I was emailing him back and forth for any questions I had, and he would respond almost instantly. He is very knowledgeable. He is also very respectful and did a very clean job. I have attached before and after pictures of the backsplash. Just keep in mind that the countertops were done by a different company.

I submitted an online quote request and got a response very quickly. Communication was great. The project turned out beautifully. Very reasonable price, professional and great attention to detail. Would definitely use this company again. Happy to recommend.
