Basement Renovation review in Toronto

I contracted for a basement renovation, It's not a company, it's a Single guy, who doesn't have a CLUE what to do. My recommendation: DO NOT EVEN THINK OF CONTRACTING HIM. He will ruin your project.

Unfinished project

The contractor is not honest.
He took our money and left the job unfinished.
He asked us for money to purchase materials but he couldn't finish the job and run away with our money.

Company Response: I have this conversation and altercation recorded Lylama, I received money for work completed (ie. Framing, Drywall) however did not receive money for additional work that was completed. I did leave the project as in contract it says that “If payments due to the remodelling contractor are not paid within the written demand, the remodelling contractor may suspend work until payment is made” I would like you to provide documentation and proof for your accusations as they are vindictive especial as there is still money that I have not received and project was $0 Down I have taken time to prepare necessary documentation as well and forwarded to my law firm to sue for arrears for non payment as I have given this client applicable time to make payments and clear debts.

This Contractor took a project from us and was unable to finish the job because he said the Budget " doesn't meet with our expectations " . He also took a lump sum of money from us($1750) for Cabinets that we picked from his supplier BUT he never ordered the cabinets and yet still took the money and said to us that he already put a Deposit for them. The total price for cabinets was $2366 but he told us it was $3000.
We also have an email from The owner of the cabinet factory confirming that he had never placed the order. If he told us from day 1 that he can't do the job for this money it would have been fine and we would have moved on.
we have also forwarded the necessary documentation to a Law Firm to pursue Civil action (lawsuit)
