Ordered a custom water fountain for condo foyer. Discussed in person on site with owner/creator of the piece. Vendor never provided final specifications for review and sign off as requested (and as done on two previous projects). Vendor proceeded to build the fountain without communication or verification of size specifications. Upon delivery the base of the piece was way too page for the space making it non functional as well as a significant safety hazard. The design of the piece aside from the base was very good. I asked the vendor to modify or create a smaller base ( even offered to pay something for additional materials). Vendor got very upset, emotional and refused to make any modifications whatsoever AND would not return my deposit! She took the fountain back without any resolution to the problem. I followed up a couple of days later hoping she had calmed down, had time to consider how ridiculously unreasonable she was being and again requested that she modify the base ( this would be the simplest solution that would have resolved the issue for both parties) but she continued to refuse to do anything to rectify her error AND still refused to refund my deposit, I know artistic people can be temperamental but if they can't be professional they shouldn't run a business. It is so sad as all I wanted was a functional piece that fit safely and properly into the space I have and I would have been happy to pay the balance ( as mentioned I even offered to help with some additional cost within reason) but the owner/designer would not even consider it. If she wants to be that shortsighted and unreasonable there is not much a consumer can do but to refuse to return the deposit is dishonest and unscrupulous. There are lots of talented small business owners that need consumer support in the GTA so don't waste your money or time with Dawson Metal Design..
