Tile laundry room and level floor

Andrew was fantastic. He advised us how we could work with a floor that was not level and not sloped properly toward drain. He broke the job into 2 and spent a day preparing the floor for the tile. He levelled and sloped so that tile (a hex tile) would lay flat and floor would drain properly if water issue. On another day, weeks later when we were ready, he laid tile and the following morning grouted. The results were beyond our expectations and we absolutely love the tile look. Andrew was patient, timely, responsive, gave us lots of advice and no pressure and fair. I highly recommend Enlightened Tiles and Andrew.

Happy to help. Doesn't matter on the size of the project. I am just happy you had some of the same spare tile so we could make it look as natural as possible.

Kitchen backsplash replacement and powder room tile removal / drywall install

We initially hired Andrew to remove / retile our kitchen backsplash and added the powder room on where he removed tiling and replaced it with drywall and trim. Andrew was very quick to respond to all communications from the start. He rolled with the changes, issues, and extra requests along the way. He worked hard and meticulously, taking pride in his work, communicating well with us through the process, and thoroughly cleaned up when the work was complete. We are very pleased with the results. Additionally, Andrew is very pleasant and kind. It was easy to have him in our home despite the chaos that came with the job and our smaller space. We highly recommend Andrew and will be reaching out again for the next project!

Same to you Jamie, both you and your husband were great to work with. Glad to help out, updating the powder room from that old style of tiles on the walls to something more modern, while we were there working on the kitchen. Asking if we can help you in other areas is one of the best compliments you can give, so thank you for that.

Retile bathroom floor in a 1920s house

We have a 1920s house in Toronto in need to a new bathroom floor. After removing the old tiles myself, we engaged Andrew to come lay down a concrete backer and new mosaic floor tiles on top of the vintage wood subfloor.

Andrew showed up on time as scheduled and completed in the job in two days of a two-to-three day estimate. His price was very reasonable. He works neatly and precisely. He's also very friendly and kept things clean.

It can be hard in old homes where things have settled to make a reno look good, when the walls and floors are no longer level or true. Andrew has a good eye to make the tile floor look good even in these more difficult circumstances.

I recommend you to try Andrew for your next tiling project, based on our positive experience.

Hi Mark, thank you. Glad we could finish it before you left to enjoy your vacation. Old houses can definitely be the most challenging to work in. I am just happy we could get that heavy cast iron clawfoot tub out of the bathroom!

Hi Dan, super happy to hear you are enjoying the new backsplash. Being called a perfectionist is perhaps one of the nicest compliments I've been given. Thank you. But definitely not a perfectionist, I just try to do the best job I can do every time and treat every client's home as if it was my mom's.

FOYER TILE REPLACEMENT

Needed to replace the tiles on a small landing while keeping intact the granite edging. Called/texted quite a few contractors and tile stores to get a quote and either was turned down or got no response (my thoughts are the job was too small). Andrew not only quickly responded but set a date for the work the very same week and that morning of was kind enough to let me know he was running a bit late.

While removing the old tiles and old mortar he showed me the poor condition of the wooden sub-floor and re-thought how to best achieve a solid surface for the new tiles that included putting down a solid slab of cement board and mortar both above and below to obtain a solid flat foundation. I was also nervous to keep the original granite strip intact without it being broken and chipped. Andrew took extra care when chipping out the old tiles with no damage to the granite. He also took great pains to level the new tile to the existing granite edge and quarter round. We also discussed the best color to match the new grout to the new tiles. All in all, I'm very pleased with the results and workmanship. Even the existing quarter round wasn't damaged in any way (so no extra work $$$ there was needed). Job was done efficiently, within budget, and with consideration.

Big fans!

Andrew is amazing! We've used him three times over many years for tiling and flooring jobs both small and large. He is thoughtful, honest, knowledgeable, flexible, highly responsive on follow up, and somehow simultaneously easy going and highly attentive to detail. We'd use him again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!
