What started out to be a straightforward job ended up being a nightmare. A 2 week job ended up stretching for 2 months, at the end of which the Alex, the contractor abandoned the job site without any communication.
Alex, the contractor ensured that there were no avenues to get in touch - blocked phone calls, no response to messages/emails, etc. since abandoning the job. Materials that were paid for as per contract and purchased for the job were also taken away without any communication. Additionally, personal equipment and materials on the job site were also removed. I wish no one comes across this contractor and hope the company (Apex Construction group) is unable to come back with a new name on HomeStars to haunt other customers.
It also didn't come much as surprise that most of the other positive reviews posted for this business were from friends and family of the contractor.

Deb,
It is very surprising to see this review posted here. Also surprising to see homestars allows false claims of theft with no proof, especially after police involvement. (Which is the reason we haven't been back there)
I chose to terminate the contract agreement between us after several attempts by you to add scope of work or change work that had already been completed and inspected by you and your husband Ashwin. Attempts were made to change work we had completed with no additional payment offered. Your husband Ashwin is a very reasonable, polite, and rational man. He agreed with me on every instance and offered, in front of you, to pay us extra for certain things you wanted to change or ADD to scope. I had a long conversation with your husband Ashwin directly about my unhappiness with attempts to rip me off and attempts to add scope with no extra payments and the bad attitude and comments made about "issues with final payments". I had told him that upon finishing the tiles It was likely that I would be terminating the rest of the agreement and that you would have to find another contractor to finish the scope. You did not know about this and upon not being able to get ahold of me for a day or two you found out I spoke to Ashwin already and you called the police and lied to them telling them we had taken something from your home (no mention of what or any specific property or materials).
Police were contacted and spoke with us in great detail about the entire project and questioned me about removing anything from the home. Obviously, no charges were laid as nothing was ever removed from the home. (No specific materials were mentioned by Deb or police throughout the entire conversations, so I am still not sure which materials you are speaking about or which personal items you're speaking about) There were no materials on site that hadn't been installed already. We had access through the garage, which was completely empty (no personal items of any kind in the garage).
WHILE ON THE PHONE WITH POLICE, you called me. I told the officer you were in fact calling me right now. She told me to answer the other lime and see what you wanted. I picked up, and you asked me when I would be coming back to finish the rest of the work, and you were sorry for the confrontations. I simply told you that I was currently on the other line with police and that it was likely I wouldn't be returning. The police officer was extremely angry for wasting her time, and I assume she called you back as I never heard from them again about it.
Being a young contractor at the time, I was eager to help people like yourself, extend savings, and even use lots of my own materials that I didn't charge for(screws, caulking, etc.). You attempted to rip myself and my workers off, you were rude and condescending to people working in your home, and after all of that you lied and called the police and wasted their time and then ON TOP OF THAT came to my homestars page and attempted to tarnish my name and affect my business. Very shameful behavior from a "grown adult." It's people like you who prey on contractors and especially young ones and take advantage of them every chance you can get. I feel bad for anyone who comes across you and has to deal with you. Your poor husband.....
Alex
