Never thought I’d leave a review but my experience with these guys was so terrible that this should be said
Tony, their sales guy, came by to quote the install of a manual Aprilaire 600M whole house humidifier to be connected and operated by my Nest thermostat as well as the removal of my old drum humidifier. He said “that in all his years in sales he doesn’t have to walk on the other side of the road when his customers walk down the street”. Far from believable after actually doing business with him.
Their technicians arrived on time but weren’t very friendly from the get go. At one point one of the techs asked me where on the Nest terminal block the humidifier wires connect to. That should have been a red flag right away.
After the humidifier was installed on the side of the furnace, the techs struggled with programming the Nest to turn the humidifier on. After an hour of fiddling with the settings on the Nest, they told me they had it working and were in a rush to get paid and out of the house. Any questions I asked about the operation were met with attitude and hostility from Jason.
After the techs left I noticed that the humidifier solenoid was open, dumping hot water down the drain, when the furnace was off. It should only be on when the heat is on. These guys left without properly testing the humidifier/furnace operation!
I called the office and they sent their techs back. It turns out you need to have a NEST PRO ID to turn the humidifier on with the heat and these guys aren’t NEST CERTIFIED and should not be taking on this type of work! No wonder the techs were sour and in a rush to get out of here! They left with the work incomplete and the humidifier inoperable.
A week and half of conversations with Tony and the office led nowhere. First it was you need to contact Nest, then it was you need to submit two different Nest Pro installer quotes to have them put in a code, then it was you need to contact this guy and he’ll walk you through the setup. I finally asked for the boss to call me...I’d like to meet the guy I’m working for here! No surprise, he didn’t call. My requests for a refund were also denied.
I was finally given a pro ID a week an half later and did the setup over the phone with a gracious contractor in western Ontario.
They also failed to completely remove the old humidifier system that was agreed to on the walk through with Tony.
If you can’t trust these guys with a simple humidifier install how could you have them install a furnace or AC?
