Disappointing experience

** We have since been sent additional money for the inconvenience of the move. Hopefully this experience we had was just a one off for the company, and this normally doesn’t happen.

What a disappointing experience we had the last weekend in May 2021 using Apollo Movers. We had all plans set for our family of 4 (including 2 kids under the age of 3) to move over an hour away . Let me tell you the owner is great at his sales pitch but things quickly changed the night before moving when the owner called us at 730 pm to let us know the truck had broke down and the move was now being pushed from a time window of 9am - 10am to noon. After further discussion with the owner he was able to change this back to the original time , which was great. So we thought , sure enough the team arrived at 11am, I guess the sayings true you get what you pay for. Moving out of a 1500 sq ft house you wouldn’t think it would take 7 hours to fill the truck taking into account you had already moved your garage out days prior. When it came to taking out furniture and exercise equipment you would think they’d be experienced to deal with a variety of possible problems you’d run into, but I guess that wasn’t the case considering it took them over 30 mins to move out one piece of furniture (3 movers) . Hours passed and the truck was finally packed and ready to go, we headed to the new house and patiently waited for the truck to arrive as it was a long day. Team unloaded the truck, but at one point noticed only 2 out of the 3 movers were unloading, that’s when I found the third mover sitting on the truck on his phone. Don’t get me wrong I get it’s a tiring job but when you’re paying hourly you would expect them to just get the truck offloaded (contract states you are not responsible to pay for their breaks) . At 11:30pm they were done and patiently awaited us to pay our invoice, which we had to go back to owner to fix as he hadn’t compensated us for their break or the fact that they were an hour late. Not to mention they hadn’t reassembled our furniture or who knows how long they would’ve still been here.

I called the owner the following morning to let him know my concerns, he was going to compensate additional money but we have yet to see that as he is no longer returning my calls or the email I sent.

So if you have lots of time to spare, want your furniture dinged as not all furniture was wrapped although we had paid for it, and a company that clearly doesn’t want to build a good reputation, Apollo movers is the way to go !

I apologize for the inconvenience you went through. We have compensated on the day of the move and also compensated more after 2 days of your move.
- We called you to give you information before the move day and arranged another team that was available at 11 am. We always have 1-2 hour window for arrival and gave you 30 min. notice before arrival.
- 3 Movers and 26ft was at work distance was more than 1 hr. wherein we didn't charge you for the travel time as well. Also deducted break that the movers took to have lunch.
- It usually takes 2-4 hours to load a 26ft truck , wherein we had to disassemble and reassemble the furniture items and wrap.
- There are times where it can take more time to move a single item. e.g : An oversized item, A narrow pathway or requir more disassembling like for door , railings.
