Not just another 5 star review

It’s a long review, but if you’re like me when researching a company to renovate your home, the details really matter.

We converted a 3 bedroom single family home in Beaverbrook into our 5 bedroom, forever dream home. The renovation would require a complete basement renovation that would include building a theatre room, a bathroom with a walk-in shower and heated floor, a guest bedroom, an office that would be used every day, and installing 2 egress windows. We also updated the kitchen, replaced all the lighting in the house, painted all 3 levels of the house, and painted all the doors as well as installed new hardware. Oh and we would be living in the home for the 2nd half of the renovation. A big job.

We interviewed a lot of designers and contractors. Naturally, we wanted someone who would deliver excellent work. But we also wanted a contractor that would make this an experience we would enjoy. We wanted a contractor who would work well with designer, so good communication and accountability were critical. With any job of this size issues were bound to come up, we wanted someone with integrity who would work with us to solve them.

Magnolia exceeded our expectations. The craftsmanship was excellent, communication was immediate, the project stayed on budget, when we encountered issues the Magnolia team worked with us and our designer to find practical, creative solutions to give us the outcome we were looking for. They really earned our trust. Creative and practical approaches were not limited to just solving problems. As the team became familiar with our style they would proactively make recommendations they thought would improve our home. Sometimes we took the recommendation and sometimes we didn’t (usually we did), but we were always impressed with the care and pride they were taking in renovating our home. In the second half of the project while we were living in the home while it was being renovated the team was always respectful and courteous (my wife and I both work from home and we have two teenage daughters).

We will be conducting some exterior renovations this summer and we’re looking forward to working with Magnolia again. I can’t think of a stronger endorsement than that.
