Markus contacted me off kijiji for basement renovation contract. My fault was not to search his name or company or I would've seen the complaints on BBB and not hired him. He was very eager to get my business. I should have seen the red flag when he was super late on our first meeting. He came with his wife Keisha. So we start talking and initially he got me 1 week late already as he said he will start project a week later. Now comes the night before and that's when he sends the invoice (without company name or address) and we're talking late into the night just so he can extract a deposit. As another person stated here, he claims to live in Cambridge but address on his driver's license is for Scarborough and looks like he usually hangs around Oshawa side. Initially he asked for a number close to 5000 as an e-transfer for deposit to buy materials. I wasn't ok with it so he said fine make it half. Another redflag I should've picked up on. I sent him $2400. The excuses started next morning. Oh he's not well. Oh he's gotta do COVID testing. His crew also gotta do COVID testing. Funny enough the deposit was for materials and he was well enough to go and buy $2400 worth of materials (so he claims). The contract was supposed to start Thursday. Now we're on Friday afternoon obviously no one is here working no materials delivered etc. I tell him I don't work like this and I want my money back. To which he said he will return materials by evening and do a refund. That didn't happen. He asked for Monday morning. I said fine. That didn't happen and no response. He doesn't respond to you once he has your money and you gotta reach out to him. He said Monday he's doing COVID test again. WOW! he claims he already did a COVID test and it came out negative. and he's doing another COVID test now. I said fine. As expected no updates and when asked he gets upset and said that he was sleeping and I woke him up. It has been an absolute poor experience dealing with this person. Avoid this person and company at all cost. I agree with reviewer Mike T, this person is absolutely horrible. I am not sure how he is raising kids by treating people out of their hard earned money.
