Sump Pump Installation

I installed a sump pump with a government subsidy. The company I contacted was Canadian Sanitary System. There was only one person who answered the phone, and his name was Vile. The installation was supposed to take just one day but ended up taking more than three days. They used subcontractors, so the work depended on whether the subcontractor could do it. On the first day, they dug a hole, and while removing the dirt, the wall of my house got dented. I understood thatpeople work hard, and theres always some risk.

However, after the work was completed on the third day, the lid was closed, and I wasnt shown whether the sump pump was working or not. I asked the company to send someone to check if the sump pump was functioning, but they kept promising and never showed up. This makes me think they might just be interested in getting money from the government rather than providing quality service. I conclude that this company doesnt really care about their clients. I would not recommend them to anyone. I hope you think carefully before hiring them.

Company Response

Hi Anselm, I have read your review and can confirm that I personally spoke to you (and I am not Ville). All installers conduct a flush test after installation. There is no need to go into the sump pump lid to determine if it is working or not. When the installation was completed fully the device was left working as it has to run in order for inspection. I am not certain why you would think it would be installed and not working? If you would like a manual you can email head office and you will receive one. We have yet to have received any emails from you. The installers are very busy and when they leave the residence after the job is completed they ensure all is working correctly. Some jobs take longer then others as job sites can become unpredictable once the ground is broken. Also in the event homeowners require a said time for the installer to have to leave it can prolong the installation. If you spoke to Ville he would have explained things to you also with relations to the sump pump. Please be advised that the company is not about (obtaining only money) in fact, you do not pay your invoice until you receive funds from the municipality. The company handles the entire subsidy process and requires no up front costs. This shows the consideration the company has for their customers as they wait on their money so the homeowner doesn't have to be out of pocket. This is to assist those that would like to take immediate flood prevention measures but may or may not be able to do so financially. With regards to your customer service comment: please be advised that we are very cusotmer service oriented. In my opinion it is an unfair judgement and comment made to try to deter anyone (that may review your comment) from a company that is actually very adamant about cusotmer service and attending to the needs of customers. That said you are entitled to your opinion. As a flood prevention company, given the extreme amount of inquires the company receives due to flooding and the crisis things can become very busy. If your call was not attended to immediately there was always the option to email or text the service line etc. I don't believe all of those alternatives were taken. Furthermore to address your comment regarding your door, if you could provide a photo to the company email we can look at the concern and I can see that a cusotmer service credit be applied to your account. The installers are trained to be very careful when entering and exiting however if something occurred I would like to assist in a remedy. I hope this relieves some frustration that you have expressed online. Please email the company if you have concerns. Thank you.

Sump Pump Installation

Canadian Sanitary Systems installed a sump pump at my residence. They introduced me to the city run sump pump subsidy program in my area. As promised, I was happy to see my reimbursement cheque which covered the total cost right to the penny. The installation went in without an issue and was done in less than 4 hrs. All questions and/or concerns were promptly responded too. Great customer service, honest and trustworthy company to work with. They put the customer as priority which is appreciated. I would definitely recommend their team for your installation.
