We had an insurance claim with some modifications that were to be paid personally. Project was going well until the project manager became ill and was off the project. The company never replaced the manager and it became chaotic. The workers left feces in our toilet, they damaged our driveway (made big ruts in it), refused to do work that the previously manager had already agreed to - leaving us to find someone last minute to do it. Furthermore, when asked for detailed invoices prior to payment they refused. Instead they threatened to put a lien on our property. I would never hire them again. They seemed to think that the insurance money was theirs - when in fact it is ours and they are simply invoicing us for a job. I was happy to pay partial amounts until the details of the invoices were figured out - however, they seemed confused or unable to do that. They were also extremely rude to me, aggressive and threatening in their language. The one individual admitted it was because they had assumed we were unable to pay them and had blown the insurance money. They seemed to make up the total amount based solely on what the insurance company was willing to pay. They also had a huge issue providing us with detailed invoices. They sent us the contractors estimates instead. My impression was that they were extremely unorganised and underbid the project and then wanted to recoup the costs by charging us personally more.
