I hate writing negative reviews, but I feel that there was such a significant variation between the glowing reviews on Homestars and my actual experience with Renovaint that I have no choice but to share my story.
Faraz initially came to my home to assess my porch and back deck. He measured both areas and provided a professional and detailed quote painting & staining. Given the professionalism of his presentation, I decided to go with Renovaint over two other quotes I had received. Unfortunately, this is where the good experience ended.
As soon as the workers arrived, it became apparent that they lacked experience in both painting and staining. Having previously painted the front porch and power washed/stained the back deck many times myself, I expected the team to follow their own quoted process, which stated they would power wash and sand the deck. However, they seemed unsure whether to even proceed with either task.
The main issue arose with the stain colour. On the first day, I pointed out a stain colour from a brochure that was shown to me by Nomon. Two days later, he texted me, asking for the name of the colour again. I reminded him that I had already shown him the colour, and I assumed he had taken note. When he arrived with the stain, it was a yellow hue, not the cedar tone I had initially chosen. After some back and forth, we managed to adjust the stain to an acceptable colour, but it was far from what I had envisioned. Worst of all, the worker accused me of not telling the truth about my choice, and Faraz took his side, insisting I had picked the colour. The worker even commented to my husband that he wished he was dealing with him instead of me. Whether this was a cultural attitude or not, it certainly didnt reflect good customer service. It was both disrespectful and chauvinistic. I am the one who makes the decisions for our house, and I am in charge of this project. His attitude was unacceptable.
Additionally, it felt like we had to babysit the workers. They repeatedly asked us to check their work, and there were noticeable areas where paint and stain were missing. Faraz said that they would come back on Saturday at 10:00 AM and he would arrive at 12:30 PM to review the work. I texted him around noon to advise that the workers were not close to being finished. Faraz arrived later that afternoon but even then, he had to assist the workers in finishing the job properly. They were still working until 6:00 PM, well beyond the expected time given that it was a Saturday.
After inspecting the work the following day, we found that they had stepped on and broken a sprinkler head in the front garden as well as a pot watering stick that was broken off of the main feed. They had also left the security camera unplugged without letting us know. Of course, when we addressed this with Faraz we were told that his workers denied everything and he believed them.
While I would have appreciated an attempt to fix the issues, the overall experience was exhausting, and the result still doesnt compare to the quality and customer service I was expecting. Based on my experience, I cant recommend Renovaint.
