Complete Home Rewiring - Knob & Tube removed
We hired Mueller Electrical Contractors to remove all knob & tube wiring within our home, do a complete rewire, including adding new electrical for our kitchen & bathroom renovations and upgrade the electrical panel to 100 amp service. We dealt directly with Michael Mueller who quoted us $8,517 to complete the job. A 40% deposit was requested and paid before the project began.
His crew showed up on the day/time promised to start the job. Before walls were enclosed the City of Toronto inspector showed up to do an initial inspection of all electrical work completed to date. The inspector identified numerous issues which neecded to be resolved before he would signing off.
At this point I recieved a call from Mike screaming at me that he "almost lost his licence" and "would never take a job in Etobicoke again". Before we knew it, Mike pulled 90% of his existing crew off the job and replaced them with more senior staff. The senior crew had to rewire about 80% of the work that had been completed at that point. I recieved a subsequent call from Mike again screaming at me that he was loosing money on this job and vowed never to work in Etobicoke again....Well thank goodness. I would hate to have him treat other customers they way I was treated. If he had provided competent electricians in the first place, he wouldn't have found himself in that position. Thank goodness we aquired all building permits for our project. I'd hate to think what may have happened if we hadn't had an inspector present.
At the end of the day, Mueller passed the City inspection, however they neglected to complete rewiring of lighting in the master bedroom closet - instead electing to disconnect the service and leave the light fixtures dangling by thier wires. They also neglected to properly label the new electrical pannel.
We discovered this several months after completion when my husband went to change an exterior light fixture. He THOUGHT he had switched off the appropriate breaker - but it was still LIVE. Investigating further, we discovered that the electricians had randomlly assigned labels to the new breakewr pannel. When I informed Mike that the crew w had not properly labelled the pannel and that my husband could have been electrocuted as a result- his response was "it's not our job to label the pannel" and was not accounted for in the original contract. We could do it ourselves or he would be happy to provide someone to come out and map it at an additional cost......What repuatable electrical contractor doesn't map their work? I would not use or recommend this company to anyone.

- Company Response
Hi Melanie, I can only say that I'm not really sure how things got so out of control. But I'm really sorry for the bad experience that you have had with our company! I had gone through a Large Bankruptcy due to an office manager Embezzling several hundred thousand dollars! Everything is back on track and if there is anything you'd like me to do make matters better for you and your husband Id be happy to come out personally and do it at no cost to you...
Best Regards MM
