We hired Quality Restorations to do a straight forward rebuild / stabilization of a porch on our Victorian semi in downtown Toronto (plus a new fence). Doug was a no-nonsense type of contractor and was clear and upfront. He delivered what he said he would and his price was fair and competitive. We had a couple of change orders required and Doug was always clear on why and how much - and always sought our approval before advancing work. No surprises. Patrick his carpenter was courteous and clean and did a great job. He got the job done in a reasonable time period and made sure we were happy. We were very happy with the quality of work and ease of the process. We would recommend Quality Restoration for this type of work and will be using them for other renovation works in future. Many thanks!

Thanks much for the great work, Vlad! Vlad agreed to take on a small but complicated install for us that involved papering a wall that contained two swing doors with complicated hinge systems - all in a rather confined space. To make it more tricky, there were lots of cuts required and we only had one roll of paper! The work looks great. Perfect alignment of the pattern and very clean cuts. We appreciated that Vlad was able to fit us into his schedule within a week. He was very easy to communicate with and kept us well informed of any issues or change of plans. Vlad was tidy and very professional. Would have him back to do more work without hesitation. Thanks again!

Rob was a great find - his quote was very competitive and he was nothing but professional from start to finish. We had water damage to our ceiling and needed it repaired/replaced, which included removal of some electrical. Throughout the process Rob was easy to talk to and made himself available over the busy holiday time. He was was very responsive to any questions or communication we had. Rob and his crew are very clean (which can be tricky for drywall work) and punctual. Early starts and late nights seems to be the norm for this crew! Rob even helped us with an unrelated 'fix it' problem that we unexpectedly ran into while he was doing the work. I would recommend Rob and his crew - he works hard and does great work. Our ceiling looks brand new and blends perfectly with the existing ceiling that he was able to save. Great job! Thanks so much. Ross

We just had a very standard replacement of a pilot light made to a wall mounted space heater. This took the technician two seperate visits. His first visit was to tell us it was broken (really?! This cost us $210) and second visit was to replace the part (which we had already told them on the phone was required, but the service man did not bring any parts with him). Second visit cost us an additional $336). The service man was professional and pleasant, but he ended up charging us 1.5 hours of labour for what was actually about 45 minutes of work (all his time inside the house). This is clearly overbilling and gauging. The two visits I can accept (a crafty way of doubling up billing), but the blatant overbilling of time by more than double is a hard to accept. When we called and questioned the billing, we were told that they bill by the GPS on the car and not by the time the service person spends in the house doing his job!! Don't bill me by GPS when I know excactly how long the job took. This is very dishonest and unprofessional and I will never McKinnon again for any project, big or small. Very bad first time experience.

Ross,
I am sorry to hear that you feel we mistreated you with respect to the pricing of our services. We always explain what the charges will be prior to the commencement of work so I am a little puzzled. Nevertheless, please feel free to call me at the office, 416.694.1187 and hopefully we can discuss the matter with the goal of a mutually acceptable resolution.

Alliance is great for floors - both re-finishing and the laying new floors. The Alliance team was punctual and courteous and completed the job in a very tight timeline. Most of all, Lehel and Susan were friendly and easy to deal with - no slick sales pressure at all. The areas that Alliance is less strong are the 'extra' work we had done (including installing new baseboards throughout the house, re-finishing some wood edging / banisters and clean up). This work was not up to the standard of their floors. That said, Lehel did get bring his people out again to try to undertake the repairs. All in all, if you want friendly service and beautiful floors we would recommend Alliance. If additional work is required beyond the excellent flooring skills, use a bit of caution.
