I do not recommend Enercare Home Services due to their extremely poor customer service. I’m sharing with the public my extreme dissatisfaction with how my issue was handled so you can decide if you want to deal with them 'eyes-open'. On June 29, 2018 Enercare Home Services came to my house do annual maintenance on my A/C unit. My A/C had been working and cooling my house up to the moment the guy started cleaning the unit outside. He then went into the basement furnace area when he suddenly said “it’s not working now”. He literally ran out of here with no explanation basically saying I have to call for service. He said he was just maintenance and I needed a technician. When I called for service the girl told me that ‘sorry I don’t have a protection plan’ and said I needed to buy a plan to save on the cost of repair and then booked me for an appointment two days later. Right off the bat the whole problem was mishandled and I would have expected Enercare to call one of the techs in the field to go and attend to an escalated problem their employee created. We were left in the unbearable record breaking heat where the interior of my house reached 90 degrees F. Enercare Home Services should have immediately stepped up and taken responsibility for the individual who permanently damaged my A/C unit. The have totally excused themselves from responsibility and my situation is unresolved. I listed the cost in this review as the replacement cost for the new unit I had to get with another company.

I met with Marcel [owner] October 2012 and scheduled a basement reno for the end of March 2013 which was the date I wanted. He stopped in the night before the target start to say hello and check basement if was clear [that told me lots about his attention to detail]. Marcel gave me a quote and a three week schedule to have the basement finished [approx 75% of the total house footprint] which consisted of a great room with a kitchenette/bar area; bathroom with shower and a large walk in closet. All the trade work had minimal mess and noise into the house fortunately because of the direct basement access through the garage. His crew were like Santa’s elves; never really saw them but they working hard all day with hammer/saw/drill. Checking nearly every night I saw tremendous progress each visit. The walls were amazingly smooth; I had some other professional complement the quality work. What I appreciated most was that Marcel would offer very good recommendations; he has an excellent style sense. I trusted him completely when I deferred a decision to him. I was very impressed with his personal approach and proactive manner. I would get a heads up as to timing of flooring, tile, granite etc. selections. Nothing was ever too much trouble. There was a minor set back when the tiling couldn't finish the night before, I found him in my driveway at 7am with the two tiles that were the wrong shade driving off to Toronto to get replacements and with a smile on his face. Couldn't believe it! Impressive. The job ended with all work done as promised in late April and looking fabulous. I couldn't be more pleased. I highly recommend CBU to anyone.

Company Response

Thank you for your kind words. The best part of my job is helping with the design, sourcing materials that look impressive and give maximum value for the money. Having all the materials and the workplace clean prior to the trades starting is the key to staying on schedule. But nothing compares to the proper skilled trades. Contracting By Us thanks you for choosing us to complete your finished basement. Enjoy, and looking forward to our next project together.

Nov '12 & Jan '13 & Apr '13: Spoke to Antonio he arrived on time to provide a no-hassle quote. The job was approx. 18 pot lights, moving 8 outlets, new switches and under-cabinet lighting. He was very flexible to my needs and once agreed he and his crew quickly scheduled the task. I asked for the job to be split up due to the constraints in the plan as a kitchen reno was underway and another company was also working in the same space. They were so understanding and I found them to be very polite and respectful. They worked long hours to meet the key deadlines and I was never in doubt. There was enough stress with the reno but Antonio’s team made the electric work the least of my worries. Though I contacted them for the kitchen I was so impressed I also had them complete items I had on my “wish list” [change-out switches and new pot lights in other areas]. I was completely 100% satisfied with the excellent results and highly recommend Java Electric to anyone.

Sep 10/12: My project was for crown mouldings for the entire house and was estimated as 500+ linear feet. Arnie came as promised, punctual and polite and provided a clear estimate of the work and price. Once the job was approved their crew arrived for the one day installation. They worked efficiently with little mess or noise and due respect for the house. No surprise /hidden costs. The finished work was excellent quality and it beautiful; just as I hoped for. I highly recommed.
