Every few years we have our kitchen drain cleaned to ensure that nothing gets clogged and can cause bigger problems down the road. We didn't know who to call but we decided on Dave the Plumber. We made an appointment and he arrived on time. Immediately he went to work and had the drain cleaned and flushed out. He also gave us some cleaner to use each and every night to ensure that our kitchen drain would not clog in the future. He was very professional and he gave us instructions on how to keep our drain clog free. We would definitely recommend Dave the Plumber and if we require any other plumbing repairs we will be calling him.

I had purchased a Lazy Boy chair for my husband about 10 years ago. The chair has been cleaned and well looked after as he is the only one who using it. After many years of use one of the springs broke. Needless to say we knew we had to have it fixed because replacing it would be a lot of money. I called J R Rahey's Furniture and they immediately had someone come to the house and see if it could be repaired. The gentleman who came looked it over and said that it could be repaired and it would be like new. Within a matter of a week the chair was repaired. The workmanship was terrific and the time frame to have it fixed was wonderful. Also, we couldn't believe that it only cost $80.00 to have this chair repaired like new. Would definitely recommend getting a chair that costs a lot of money repaired rather than replaced.

Just before Christmas we decided to purchase a new sofa for our livingroom and put our old sofa in our finished basement. This sofa is well made and we knew that we needed more seating downstairs as this is where we have everyone at Christmas because it is so much bigger than upstairs. When we placed the sofa downstairs we then decided to freshen it up by having it cleaned for the upcoming holiday. We had had it cleaned before but weren't happy with the results so we decided to try someone new. We called a few places and then decided on Sydney Carpet & Upholstery. When we arrived they gave us an estimate and as we the only place that we have carpet is downstairs we decided to have the carpet cleaned as well. They moved all the furniture and we very careful making sure that everything was covered so that nothing would be damaged. After they cleaned the carpet then they started on the sofa. Needless to say the job they did on both on carpet and sofa was terrific. It certainly made a difference and they also sprayed the sofa to ensure that any thing that was spilled on it would not soak into the material. Now the carpet and sofa look like new and it was all ready for Christmas. I would definitely have Sydney Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning back to do the same job. They were very professional and they made sure that everything was put back the way that it had been.

Early in October I decided that I was going to make Christmas gifts for family and friends. I then thought that homemade scarves, table runners and various household items would be the best and everyone likes to receive something that someone has made for them. I immediately decided to go to Moraff's to obtain all the items that I would need to start my projects. The day that I went to Moraff's happened to be a day that they were marking certain types of yarn and material down. I was able to purchase all the materials I needed at a spectacular price. The ladies were able to assist me with all the measurements for the items that I wanted to make. This store has been around for many, many years and they have always given great service and the selection has been wonderful. Everything that you can imagine you will find in this store. I hope that this store remains open for many years to come as it is a store that doesn't exist in alot of places anymore. The wealth of knowledge that the people who work there is so extensive and whenever I have a question I know that I will get the answer on all my crafting issues.

A couple of years ago my uncle turned seventy-five and we decided that we wanted to have a surprise party for this occasion. We then decided to rent a hall and invite as many old and new friends that my uncle knew over the years to come to this party. When we sat down with Walter's Rentals & Party Supplies they assisted us with everything that we needed and they even advised us what we would need to have a great party for my uncle. They helped set up the hall and decorate it with very tasteful decorations and it looked amazing. They supplied all the plates, utensils, etc. for the buffet meal that we had during the party. They were very organized and everything went without a hitch. They have been in business for a long time and it definitely shows when they planned this party for us. Definitely will use them again and even a few of my friends have already had been plan parties for them.

This footstool had been in my family for over 45 years and it was something that couldn't be replaced as the design is very unique. We decided to see what it would cost and more importantly if it could be done to look exactly the way that it looked. When I called Bonaparte Refinishing & Upholstery they told me that I would have to bring the item to them so that they could have a look at it and see if they could refinish it and what it would cost. As this footstool was genuine leather I expected it to be fairly expensive. It didn't matter this meant alot to me and I wanted to restore it to its original state. The price was a little more than what we had expected but we decided to have it done. This was the best thing that we did, it was much better than expected and now it adorns our livingroom and everyone who sees it comments on it as it is more like a large leather chair than a footstool. Bonaparte did a fantastic job of restoring this footstool which was a part of my family's past and now it will be a part of our family for many years to come.

When we first purchased our home the driveway was just dirt and very unkept. We decided that we wanted to have it paved. We contacted Municipal Ready Mix and they came to our home and gave us an estimate of what it would cost to have the driveway paved. Our driveway is longer than the usual driveway so we were very pleased with the quote that we received. First they graded the driveway and then they laid the pavement. It turned out very well and to this date the driveway looks as good as the day that it was installed. Municipal Ready Mix were very reliable and they had the job done when promised.

When we decided to have a security system installed we contacted a few local companies and received some quotes. We wanted to support a local company that used a local monitoring company not some call centre in the US or in another province. We wanted a company who was familiar with the streets and where they are located for easy access to the police if required. When the installer arrived from Coady T Alarms Limited they advised what we would need and exactly what it would cost. After the system was installed we haven't had any problems with the system and each and every year they inspect our system to make sure that it is working properly. Nice to know that someone locally is ensuring that our security system is working well.

I decided that I wanted to have new drapes in our master bedroom and after looking in all the local stores and in many catalogues there wasn't anything that I liked or would match the decor. I then thought that I would go to Fabricville and see what kind of material they had for draperies. I had made drapes in the past and thought that I would have a look and see if anything caught my eye. Roaming around the store a saleslady asked if she could help me and I told her exactly what I was looking for. She immediately took me to some bolts of drapery material that was drastically reduced. I couldn't believe the price and what was even better was that it had the exact colours that I wanted for our bedroom. I told her the measurements that I would need and I was lucky enough that they had what I needed. She assisted me with all the other items that I required to make these drapes. I have since completed the drapes and they now hang in the bedroom and every time I look at them I feel good about the job that I did and how I saved a lot of money by going to Fabricville. They have so much to choose from and the staff are so helpful.

When we decided to upgrade our basement we decided that we wanted a fireplace. We were undecided between an electric fireplace or a propane fireplace. A few people we knew had either the electric or the propane, so we decided to go and see exactly what they looked like and how well they liked it. I liked the electric for the convenience and that you could have it anywhere in the house. The propane had to be vented and they had to install a propane tank. After all the questions had been answered we decided to go to Scotia Propane and get more information. We decided to go with the propane because if the power goes out we will have a source of heat and I liked the design of the fireplace. Scotia Propane were very helpful and in no time they had it installed and ready to use. It is nice to know that we have the fireplace if and when we need it and it just adds so much to our home.

When my old vacuum wouldn't work anymore I started looking in every local store but everything seemed to be the same and they all looked like they wouldn't last very long. I had previously had an Electrolux vacuum and I knew that they lasted a long time. I contacted the local Aerus dealer and he came to the house and gave me a demonstration of what was available in my price range. There wasn't any pressure and he even gave me a credit for my old vacuum. After the demonstration I decided to wait and make a decision at a later date. I wanted to make sure that this was exactly what I wanted to purchase. I further researched the model that I was interested in and found out that it was above average for performance and durability. I then called and purchased the Electrolux. I am still using this vacuum and have never had any problems with this machine. The company did a follow up this past year to make sure that everything was working as it should. I can say that I would definitely purchase another Electrolux if I need one in the future. Quality and service are two items thatwill definitely get my business.

After we did our renovations in the living room we decided to put a vertical blind in the picture window. We decided that we wanted it to be made of vinyl so that it could block out the sun and give us more privacy. When we called Tigger's Draperies & Blinds they sent someone to our home with lots of samples and colours to choose what we wanted. After looking them over we made our choice. Within a few weeks they came to install our new vertical blind. It didn't take them anytime to have it up and it looked great. It is so easy to clean and they always look great. A few of our friends have even purchased them. I would recommend Tigger's as I found them to be very reasonable and they offered great service.

We had purchased a Roxton table and over the years it had many scratches and marks on it that we couldn't get rid of. We then decided to get them removed professionally. Some of the scratches were very deep and it needed to be sanded and repainted. Needless to say, we didn't want to do this job ourselves as it can get very messy and we wanted to make sure that it looked brand new. We had heard that Ralph Jeans was able to restore furniture so we called and brought the table to this place of business. After a few weeks, we received our table and it was incredible. It looked amazing and brand new. We are now able to show off our table without hiding it with placemats, etc. Excellent job and will definitely go there again if needed in the future.

In all the renovations that we have been doing we decided to look at putting in a tub surround in our upstairs bathroom. We researched this item and what we wanted in one. Checked prices at a few local places and decided to have Skyline Bath supply and install a tub surround. The preparation didn't take long and before we knew it they were getting ready to install the tub surround. Everything went well with no problems. The installers were very professional and they put this in no time and before we knew it they were finished. We are now enjoying our tub surround and clean up of this item is a breeze and it always looks great.

One rainy, windy night we had the misfortune of having a piece of a tree smash our front picture window. We were able to cover it up until we had it fixed the next day. Having dealt with Cape Breton Glass previously we immediately contacted them and told them what had happened and they came and fixed the window. They had to take everything apart to ensure that when they did put the new glass in that it would fit perfect and to ensure that there wouldn't be any leaks. This window is very big and heavy and it took 4 of their people to make sure that the glass was installed without any problems now and down the road. They worked very fast and within a matter of a few hours they had everything done. The window still looks great and we never did have any problems with water or air leaking in. This company has been in business for a long time and it definitely shows that they know their business.

Before we had our new floors installed we decided to get the living room, dinning room, kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms painted. We also had the ceiling painted as well. We got a few quotes and had Pat Burns Painting Contractors do the work. They arrived as promised, worked very fast without making a mess and they made sure that everything was covered and prepared before they started to paint. After each day they would tidy up and put all their materials away. It took four days and when they were finished everything looked amazing. The colours that I had chosen looked terrific and we were very happy with the job that they had done and would recommend them to anyone who wants to get any kind of painting job done.

We wanted to add some more electrical outlets in our home, around our pool and to the storage building, so we contacted Wally Clare Electrical Limited and they gave us a quote for all the work that we wanted to get done.. After a few quotes we decided to have Wally Clare Electrical Ltd. complete the work. They started immediately and within a few days everything that we wanted had been done. With all these new outlets we were able to enjoy our home even more having the convenience of additional power outlets where needed.

Our front yard needed to have a makeover and so we decided to start from scratch. We purchased some bricks and made a border where we would plant different varieties of flowers, scrubs, etc. I then researched a lot on perennials and decided this is what we wanted to plant, so that they would grow every year rather than replacing them with new plants each year. We made a list of the plants that we wanted to get and went to Mabou Gardens. When we arrived we started looking for the perennials and shrubs that we wanted. Some were easy to find but for the others we had help from a store associate. They even gave us some advice where we should plant and how far apart they would need to be to ensure that they didn't get overcrowded and then they wouldn't grow or come back year after year. Mabou Gardens had everything we needed from the materials to the plants & shrubs and more importantly the expert advice. We started our garden early Saturday morning and by late Saturday night we had the majority of our planting completed and finished up on Sunday. We were very impressed with what we had accomplished and had never regretted the plants and shrubs that we got and they all took and for many years they have been blooming and growing. If you want to start a project that requires expertise do not hesitate to go to Mabou Gardens where they will be able to help you decide on what you would like to plant and then tell you what you will need to complete the job.

When we decided to put laminate flooring throughout our home we went to many local companies to look over the type of laminate that they had in stock and also to find out exactly what it would cost. After many weeks of checking and rechecking around we decided to go to Value Check to have a look at what they had in stock. We didn't even know that they sold laminate or any type of flooring. We were surprised when we arrived at the store and saw just how much laminate they had in stock. They was lots of different colours and textures to choose from. The staff were very helpful and they made sure that we knew all the information about laminate flooring, care, installation, etc. We even were able to take home some samples and see if the colour was what we wanted. After changing our minds a million times we finally decided on a certain colour and brand. We placed the order and to our surprise they had all of the amount that we needed in their warehouse. Wonderful, we didn't have to wait for it to arrive, had it delivered and then waited for our contractor to install. We found the salespeople at Value Check went out of their way to assist us and they made sure that we knew exactly what we were buying. They helped us decide on the brand, thickness, etc. Great people to deal with and we recommend this company for this type of purchase.

Upon inspection of our home this summer we decided that we needed to get the rain gutter replaced. We called a few places and got some estimates and then we decided to have Allan's Construction Limited do the job for us. They arrived early in the morning and set up their equipment. Everything was measured and cut on the spot. Within a matter of a couple of hours we had our new rain gutter in the colour that we had specified. This company was very professional and they wasted no time in getting the job completed. It was amazing to see how they measure and cut the rain gutter and then attached all the downspouts on site. I would highly recommend this company if you have this type of work to get done on your home.

When we decided to put laminate flooring throughout our home we didn't know who we should get to do this job. We wanted to get someone who knew what they were doing and had many years of experience as we were told laminate flooring can be hard to put in some areas of your home. A friend told us about David S. MacDonald who had been installing this type of flooring for over 15 years or more. We called him and he came to the house and gave us an estimate and how long it would take to do this job. Within a few days, him and his assistant were on the job. They were very clean and they worked very fast but more importantly very precise. Before laying a piece of laminate down they covered the floor with waterproofing to ensure that if it got wet it wouldn't come up. As we were getting the top floor of our home completely done in laminate it took approximately 3 days which I thought was very reasonable. They made sure that the floor was being laid in the right direction and that all joints were secure. To this day, we have had no problems with our floor and it looks as good as the day that we had it installed. Sometimes when you go to get this type of work done it can be very hard to find someone who actually knows what they are doing. David S. MacDonald is a man who definitely knows what he is doing and his work is the proof. If we decide to purchase new flooring, of any type, hardwood, laminate, tile or carpet, we will definitely call David S. MacDonald to get this work done.

One hot summer day we were out on our deck which surrounds the above ground pool and we noticed a lot of wasps at one end of the deck. Upon further investigating we noticed that there seemed to be quite a few wasps coming from underneath our deck. We couldn't see anything but we definitely knew that they had to be coming from somewhere underneath. We had planned on a family gathering the next day and we knew we had to find out what was there and to get rid of it before our party. We immediately called Cape Breton Pest Control and explained our problem and within an hour they had someone come and take a look at the problem. He immediately went underneath the deck and found 2 wasp nests. Getting prepared he destroyed both nests and any wasps that were around. When we were able to go around the area we could see them laying on the ground there had to be hundreds of them. Needless to say that was the best decision to call and have them taken care of by a professional. There was no way that we could have gotten underneath the deck without being attached by so many wasps. If this happens next year we know exactly who we will call to ensure that no one is stung by wasps. Better to be safe than sorry.

This summer we decided to paint our deck which surrounds our above ground pool. We immediately decided to go to our local Home Hardware Store and talk to someone who could recommend what type of paint we should use. Previously we had used a stain but weren't happy with the results. After discussing what we were looking for the assistance told us the product that we should purchase and then we had to decide on a colour. After trying a few colours we finally decided on one and we were able to get the paint that we needed and they even gave it to us at the sale price. We found that the people at this store were very helpful and they certainly know paint and what you need to get the job done right. They made sure that we had everything that we needed and when we finished the job it looked terrific. The paint went on even better than expected and we are very happy with the results. We will definitely be doing alot of business at the local Home Hardware Store as they made us feel like they really wanted our business and they wanted to make sure that we were appreciated. They provided us with a lot of information and in the future we will purchase more items at this location. Friendly and helpful.

My husband surprised me with a painting that my friend had done and he had it matted and framed at Mr. Fi's Custom Framing. This painting now hangs in my home and the matting and frame have only enhanced this work of art. With the colour of the mat and frame it complimented the painting and made the colours stand out even more. They were very professional and very careful to not damage the painting. I would highly recommend this company for any framing that you would like to have done for all your prized paintings or artwork that you consider valuable. They were very reasonable for their work and they ensured that the job was well done.

When we decided to have new countertops put in the kitchen and 2 bathrooms I researched a lot of different types of materials and got to know what each would cost. As we were going to be doing 3 countertops we decided to go to Sydney Millwork as we had used them before and were very pleased with the results. We were able to go and take home samples of what we were interested in, not just little samples but samples that would allow you to get a really good look at exactly what it would look like when completed. The people at Sydney Millwork were very accommodating and they made sure that I knew exactly what each countertop would look like and they ensured that if they were damaged they would be replaced. Our contractor spent sometime with them and made sure what we wanted was in stock and that the measurements were exact. I would definitely use Sydney Millwork for any woodwork or renovations as they have been in business for a long time and I found them to be very helpful and easy to deal with. When the job was completed it was exactly as they had said that it would be and we are very happy with the results.

We have had our clothes washer for over 30 years and knew from going online that it could be repaired rather than purchasing a new one of which a similar model would cost over $800.00 After finding out exactly what was needed to have our washer fixed we decided to call around to the local businesses to see if they could order the part for us. After a few places told us we would be better off buying a new one we spoke with Cordell Brown's Refrigeration and they assured us that all we needed was a small part that could be obtained. They checked everything out for us and were able to find the exact part that we needed. They ordered the part and when they received it they called us and within a matter of 45 minutes our washer was as good as new. Here was a company that took the time to find the part online, obtain it and have it up and running within 8 days from start to finish. We were very impressed and when we think that we could have spent a lot of money on a new machine (which we didn't need) we are very impressed with this company. Today, it is much easier to throw something out rather than try and fix it and they definitely don't make machines the way they used to, today everything is disposable, but here was a company who took the time and fixed our machine.

When we had our home insurance renewed we were told that we would have to have a protective barrier put in place to ensure that our outside oil tank would not be hit by a car driving into our driveway. We didn't know what to put there but they told us it had to be something that was structurally sound. We had seen these columns used in parking lots but never around oil tanks. We started calling around and finally we found Island Concrete Products. They came to our home and gave us an estimate on what it would cost and what they would have to do. We contacted our insurance agent to make sure that this is what they wanted before we had the work done. They approved it so we went ahead and had them installed. They don't take away from the appearance of our home and our friends who have had to have this done have had them do the job. One thing we know for sure is that a car will never be able to get near to our oil tank to cause it any damage. Peace of mind and a job well done. We highly recommend this company if you have to get this kind of work done.

This chair has been my father's favourite and it was either going to be thrown out or redone. I called a few places in the area and when I called Bailey's Upholstery they said that they would have to see what it looked like. They arrived at our home and looked the chair over. They then made some suggestions on what I could do to this beloved chair. I wanted it to match our leather sectional. They got the swatches out and matched it perfectly. I knew that it would take some time to get this done (approximately 3 weeks) but I was surprised that they had it done in 2 weeks. When they brought into the house, well we couldn't believe it was the same chair. To say that they did a terrific job would be an understatement, they transformed this ugly chair into a beautiful piece of furniture. Everyone who sees it thinks that if is a set piece of the leather sectional. They did a fantastic job and if anyone wants to get this done you won't be disappointed.

A few years ago we had the misfortune to have water backup into our finished basement through the toilet in the bathroom. Immediately our insurance agent had System Care come and access the damage. Upon completion of an extensive report they then returned to restore our finished basement to the way that it was before this accident. They were very professional and they always took care with everything that they had to do in order to have everything done to the insurance company's instructions and our satisfaction. We were very happy with the finished results and how fast they were able to have everything done.

This company delivers furnace oil to heat my home. Bluewave Energy has always been reliable and they provide great service to ensure that we receive our heating oil on a regular basis. They have always made sure that we didn't run out of fuel during the cold winter months. There service has been wonderful and whenever asked to provide additional fuel they delivered this immediately. The staff have been very accommodating whenever I asked for any information concerning my account. I would highly recommend this company for anyone who requires furnace oil delivery on a monthly basis.

Each heating season we shop around to get the best price for cleaning and servicing our hot water furnace. This year we decided to try AAA Plumbing & Heating Ltd. We decided to go with the complete coverage for the heating system, which included a complete cleaning of the furnace and also a maintenance package if anything should happen to our furnace throughout the winter months. This included any parts and labour that had to be done to have our furnace running properly. From the time they entered our home they made sure that they didn't leave any mess behind and also they explained everything that they were doing when they cleaned our furnace. This company made me feel very secure in knowing that my furnace is prepared for the cold months ahead and that they will be there if I need them.

After many weeks of research, calling various alarm installation companies and asking a lot of questions, we decided to have T. Coady Alarms Limited install an alarm system in our home. From the moment they entered our home special care was taken to ensure that everything was done to our satisfaction. They also made sure that the monitoring was set up so that we knew that if anything happened the police, fire and 911 would be notified. They also made sure before they completed the installation that we were comfortable with all aspects of the system. I would recommend this company knowing that they make sure from start to finish that you feel secure and that they will be there if you need them for anything related to their work.

When we decided to install a pool we went to 2 local companies. We decided to go to Leisure Pools after attending a seminar that they held on people who wanted more information about pool requirements and the installation process. This was a deciding factor in our decision. Here was a company who wanted your business and they actually wanted you as a customer. From the time that we hired them they were very professional and I didn't need to track anyone down to set a date for installation. They started when they said they would and they completed the pool without any problems. Since then (4 years ago)we still go to Leisure Pools for all our pool supplies because they offer the best prices and the best products to keep your pool up and running properly. We still attend the yearly seminars that they have and like to tell everyone about our very positive experience with Leisure Pools. This is the way a company should operate.

We decided to have baseboard heating installed in our basement. When we called John MacPherson Plumbing & Heating we immediately received a reasonable quote and a time frame that worked for us. When they started the job we decided using the new plastic piping that is advertised alot these days. Well we had it installed and it seemed to be working very well until about a year later one day I noticed a leak and I immediately called the contractor and he arrived on the job and assessed the damage. John had indicated that he had heard that the plastic wasn't as great as they had heard and he suggested that I change the piping to copper. Thinking that this was going to cost us more money we were hesitate but John indicated that were he had recommended this product that they would install the new piping free of charge. This was wonderful and so they installed the new piping and we have never had a problem with it since.
