I found this company on HomeStars and was impressed with the consistency of the reviews and pictures of work done. The quote fell in line with other comparative quotes. I was also pleased with the owner, Natanael's attention to detail with the quote and contract wording, and felt satisfied that there was a very clear understanding of what we wanted and could expect, and also that we could expect the work to start on the scheduled agreed date and be completed within 15-16 days. A few days prior to the work, Natanael also walked through the specifications carefully with his team, which involved 2 main guys and 1 foreman. (to be respectful to them, I've chosen not to name them). Throughout the actual renovation, the team always arrived on time every day, and were courteous and respectful of my property. The foreman was only present some of the time. The initial stages all went well, demolition, plumbing and electrical, drywall; even the plaster work and painting were done well. However, when we got towards the finishing stages is when I became really disappointed. The key element being the lack of quality of the tile work and from my perspective for a bathroom, the tile work is crucial. One wall edge is not plumb (noticeable since you can see this in contrast to the custom shower door that had to be perfectly plumb), the floor tiles at the door edge are not level, and my main feature shower wall has waves in the alignment. I had them redo the worst sections to try to correct things, but the first attempt to correct them involved them trying to mortar and tile the grout at the same time! The next attempt done mostly by the foreman fixed the worst of the tiles, but short of starting the tilework from scratch the quirks still show. I'm also still trying to clean out the messy grout/mortar/caulking marks that is still covering the reworked sections. As we got close to the finishing stage, I reached out to Natanael to come and see the job since I wanted him to see the tile quality. He told me he was too busy to come out, thought I was pleased with everything, thanked me for my business and asked me to post a review. When I indicated that I had concerns with the tile quality, his response was that it was up to the foreman to sort things out.
Based on the other reviews I've read, I can't tell if I just got unlucky with the crew, or that my job was so small that it was an in-betweener and the crew were just rushing things at the end because over the last 4-5 days of the job they kept saying that they were pushing to finish so that they could start the next job. I want to believe that this was not the norm for them. While most of the work was actually done right, it was the main visuals that were not and that's what I see every time I use this room. Some other items that were fixed after I pointed them out, but I feel I should include: removing silicone caulking they put around the toilet base, and removing painters tape around the electric fitting after replacing the light fitting, neither of which should have been done in the first place.
