We have just recently finished an addition to the back of our house this summer and now came time to clean up the yards. We had used Ashlar landscaping about 5 years ago when we originally purchased our house so we called Daimon up again mid season as we liked his work previously. He was able to fit us in late summer and did a full rehaul of our front and back yard. For the back yard, we had our patio relaid, slightly bigger, privacy fence and new garden beds. The front included a new, much larger landing from our door with different sets of stairs and walkways as well as a new raised garden bed. We looked to Daimon for suggestions and recommendations and after some discussion, his team were right to work. In the end, the final product is amazing and really accents the new look of our house. As with his first project on our house, his staff were on time, left the site tidy and were very respectful of our neighbours. Thanks again for all your great work.

We decided to convert our multi-unit home back to a single family dwelling. Rather than remove washrooms and re-add the internal staircase, we decided to add an addition to the back of the house, including extending the basement out as well. Bert was referred to us from a neighbour who's had multiple projects with Cando as well as their family and friends. His quote was detailed and inline with other contractors but he was the one that left us most comfortable that the work would be done on time, within budget and leaving us happy. Bert and his team were excellent from day one. They showed up on time every morning ready to work. They were respectful of our house and neighbors and left things in a very tidy manner. Their craftsmanship was excellent including the custom built-ins and new fireplace. You can tell he's been in the business as he knows exactly when his subs are needed and they always showed up the next day. Everyone was extremely respectful to us and our kids. He was able to handle all interactions with the inspector sand anticipated anything they would ask/question and would address it with us before any decisions were made. Bert was able to adapt to any last minute changes we had and was able to add the many 'mini-projects' we came up while they were on site including replacing old windows and doors, and installing pot lights in other parts of the house. Bert was also able to come back and help out with some water issues we found in another part of the house (not related to this project). Overall, we would highly recommend Bert and Cando Renovations.

We moved into a house last summer with a very large backyard but felt that the backyard needed a complete makeover as it wasn’t maintained properly. We decided to look to Home Stars for some companies. Of the companies that came to provide a quote, Daimon was the most responsive, calling and/or emailing quickly to respond to my questions. I wasn’t able to meet him on his first visit but let him survey the backyard himself, gave him some rough guidelines of what we wanted but also let him add his ideas and he provided a great competitive quote. In the end, we chose Ashlar Landscapes as we felt most comfortable with Daimon and his ideas, professionalism and attentiveness (and of course the reviews he had already received). When it came closer to the date of work, he came out on a Saturday morning to meet my wife and I, and we tweaked some of the plans based on his vision and ideas. He also came prepared with the little things like I can of spray paint to mark out some ideas which greatly helped with the visual aspect. He provided an updated quote the next day and he walked me through everything on the phone. Due to some flexibility in both of our schedules, he was able to start immediately. His team showed up early each morning and he made sure to speak with myself or wife at the end of every day to give a quick update. Everything was left very tidy at the end of each work day and on days where they knew it might be a lot noisier (i.e. when they had to cut some bricks), they gave us a head’s up and we ensured we stayed away. Unfortunately due to a rainy April, the work had to be put on hold a couple times as they required dry weather for certain aspects of the project, during this time Daimon continued to update me on the status and when it was expected that they would be able to come back out and finish the job. As soon as the weather cleared, they were there at 7 am back to work to finish up. The finished product is a whole new backyard that will definitely be a great place for bbq’s and parties. Mark was referred to me by a friend about 3 years ago and we had him paint our condo at the time. He did an excellent job, very fast, efficient, clean and extremely friendly. This past year, we moved from the west end to a house in the east end, we wanted to freshen up the house with some new colours so we called Mark up again and he came by shortly thereafter and gave us a great quote. He supplied everything and did another great job. 2 coats everywhere, trim, and supplied everything - even left us with some additional paint should we ever need to do some touch ups. We're extremely happy with Mark's work and would recommend him to anyone. Thanks again.

We recently moved into a house from a condo and knew we needed to get some roofing work done. Having never had to deal with contractors in the past, nor even knowing what was really needed with the roofing (outside of our home inspection report), we turned to friends for referrals. After a couple of no-shows on estimates from other companies, we came across Mega City Roofing from a friend. There reviews on Home Stars were great so I gave them a call. Tom was excellent from the start and everything you would want in a contractor, he came out on a Saturday to take a look at the roof, walked me through what was wrong with it, what was needed and costs and warranties involved. After a couple days, I gave him a call back and signed him up. We set up a date within a week and his team was there at 7:30 am waiting for the ladders to get started. Tom was there the entire time overseeing the work and the cleanup was amazing. In this day and age, you hear a lot about the shoddy contractors and horror stories out there, it’s great to know there are companies like Mega City Roofing that still do it right.
