I wanted (more like needed) to repaint most of my home's interior, and so I came to Homestars to look for options. Clear Cut (Matt) was the first to respond, and the first to show up. He was polite, focused, professional, and impressive. Unlike some other contractors who I also considered, Matt was not fazed or intimidated by the scope of work. He actually seemed energized by the challenge, and he was very confident that he could get things done. His quote was also reasonable and competitive, which was all I was looking for. Matt also gave us some good advice on choosing colours. Throughout the project, Matt was polite, positive, easy to talk with, and very hard working -- and so was his great helper Jesus. There was no drop in effort or engagement from beginning to end. I also want to add that Matt didn't hit the pause button to jump over to other projects/gigs, which is something that I know some contractors do. I appreciate that most contractors are self-employed and need to earn revenue when they can because cash flow is unpredictable. But in my view, that is no excuse for abandoning a project at various points and turning something that should take 1 week, into something that ends up taking 1 month (or maybe longer). Matt didn't behave that way. He came all day, every day, until the job was done -- just as he promised. As for the results, we are very happy with the quality. Matt knows his craft. Even his taping competence is impressive and incomparably better than mine (I'm more of the "paint and pray" type). When things were done, we needed some small touch-ups taken care of -- which is typical of a project of this size -- and Matt was happy to take care of them right away. Overall, I highly recommend Clear Cut/Matt!

I hired Photon (Ali) to upgrade the wiring in my home. I met with several electricians. All of them were good, and a couple were great. However, Ali stood out and apart because of his communication. He was patient, helpful, and professional. His quote was not the cheapest (which wasn't what I was looking for), but it was fair and competitive. I hired Ali, and together with his helper he proceeded to systematically rewire my home. I greatly appreciated his skill and efforts to do minimal drywall cutting, and to make sure everything he did complied with the code (we needed 3 separate ESA inspections and each of them passed). Ali was also extremely respectful and friendly towards my mom who is a senior, which meant a lot to me. As with any large project, there were unexpected twists and turns along the way. However, Ali handled all of them professionally, and where necessary we were able to come to an agreement on changes. Again, Ali's communication abilities were very valuable here. Overall, I have no regrets hiring Ali, and recommend Photon!

To coincide with a full house move, I booked another company (that shall remain nameless...for now) to move 3 appliances from Milton to Mississauga. Despite scheduling everything well in advance, the company didn't show up. The fact that an emergency happened on their end was totally understandable -- these things happen. But the fact that they didn't attempt to do anything to help me out was disappointing. And then they flat out told me that "I would have to reschedule." Uh...well, if this were Little House on the Prairie and they were the only mover within 3 day's buggy ride, then yeah. But this is the GTA. Acting as if you have a monopoly on the appliance moving marketplace isn't good strategy. Actually, it's insanely arrogant. Or just stupid. Either way, I was in a tight spot and it was around 7pm. So, I came here to Homestars, looked at a few companies, and reached out to High-Speed Moving. Within about half an hour, their dispatcher responded and provided me with a very competitive quote and multiple delivery time options. He also broke down the quote so that I could see how his numbers added up (e.g. X amount for moving the appliances, X amount for removing the old appliances from the house, etc.). This was professional and appreciated. I went ahead and hired Hi-Speed Moving, and the experience was simply outstanding. They even allowed me to switch the pick-up/delivery window on short notice (note: if you end up hiring them and have a similar request but they can't accommodate you, then don't hold it against them -- I'm sure they will if they can, but obviously it's not guaranteed). The movers showed up on time, and were very competent, efficient and courteous. Everything was done much faster than I expected. It's always nice to watch professionals work. I unreservedly recommend this company, and will not hesitate to hire them again if I need anything moved. They came through when another company let me down, and turned a stressful situation into a very positive experience. Thank you team at Hi-Speed Moving! Keep up the great work.
