We had a leak coming through a light fixture in the basement and knew just who to call. Having had great experiences with both Slava and Borys in the past, I was really pleased to hear it would be Borys coming this time. (Last time Borys installed 2 toilets for us.) Borys arrived on time. He immediately covered his boots and put on a mask. He figured out that the tub gasket on the main floor was leaking and got that repaired for us. He is professional, responsible and clearly very knowledgeable. If you have a leak or drain issues or plumbing issues, you'll be in great hands with Canada Waterproofers.

We wanted to plan a second storey addition and didn't want any unnecessary delays. We had heard that if we needed minor variances from the committee of adjustments, this could result in delays of anywhere from 3-5 months. Ben has an excellent understanding of City of Toronto zoning bylaws and Ontario Building Code and created plans for us that complied with all of these. This helped us avoid having to apply for variances, which could delay our project. Ben applied for our building permits on December 15th and continued to respond to questions from the City on our behalf over the holiday. Despite the holiday, our permits came through on January 6th! We have no doubt that it was Ben's knowledge, attention to detail, and speedy responsiveness to questions from the City, that ensured we got our building permits this quickly. As well, we found Ben so easy to work with: always available to answer questions, quick to respond to calls or emails, patient with questions and changes. We would recommend him to anyone.

Alex booked an appointment with me to come see the water damage in our basement caused by a leaking dishwasher. He showed up on time, looked at the damage carefully and said the good news was that the leak was not so bad that we need full restoration services, just some simple repairs to the drywall and baseboard. He explained how he'd come to this conclusion: he said we had good quality insulation, the baseboard had not come away from the wall, and he had checked the moisture level with a meter device, etc. I trusted his assessment completely. If you, unfortunately, do need a restoration company, I think you'd be in excellent hands with this very, very professional company. Thank you.

I was very fortunate to be referred to Honeycomb by a Geotechnical Engineer at Grounded Engineering. The Structural Engineer from Honeycomb responded quickly, showed up on time, was very thorough in his assessment of my foundation and answered all my (many) questions. I feel very confident that I have received a well-considered, professional opinion and I would recommend Honeycomb without reservation.

Boris came to the house to help us figure out why water was leaking down a basement wall. He arrived on time. He took the time to listen to the history of the problem. Then he very quickly figured out that it was the dishwasher upstairs causing the problem. Great customer service and we had a lot of confidence he knew exactly what he was doing. I would definitely use Canada Waterproofers again and recommend to anyone else.

After it took us about a week to figure out the source of a leak in our basement (turned out to be a backed up drain hose from the air conditioner), we sadly decided we'd need to replace some sections of our beautiful 6-year old carpet, as mould would likely set in. We called Mark to assess how much we'd need to replace. When Mark came by, he looked at it all very carefully and explained that because the underpad is a very high quality synthetic (10 mm Gold with moisture, mould and mildew protector, if you're interested), mould growth is inhibited and that everything actually looked fine! He re-stretched the carpet for us and it looks like nothing ever happened. I can assure you that you'll never regret choosing Victorious Carpet.

When our mystery leak in the basement turned out to be coming from the furnace, I knew just who to call: Dave, "our" furnace guy for 3 years now. As always, Dave showed up on time (I don't know how he does it). He quickly removed the valve that had become clogged with debris, cleaned it out and presto, no more leak! And bonus: Dave is always fun to talk to, as well.

Canada Waterproofers was the 4th company to come by our place to assess leaking in our basement. The previous visitors had suggested it might be a problem with our drains or foundation, both of which would entail costly repairs. After hearing my background of what we knew so far, in just minutes, Slava identified the real source of the problem, shining a flashlight into our furnace room and pointing out what no one else had noticed, that our furnace was leaking! When I was stunned at how quickly he'd figured it out, Slava mentioned that before he even knocked on the door, he'd looked at how close our gutters are to our neighbours' gutters and decided that water getting to the foundations was an unlikely cause of our problem, and so he was already investigating other possible sources. He also pointed out a tiny particle floating in the water, running west along the back wall toward my closet (where I'd thought the leak was). It was so clever and efficient that it reminded me of Sherlock Holmes explaining how he solved a mystery! I asked him how much we owed him and he laughed and said it was our free assessment. Wow! I would definitely call Canada Waterproofers if I ever needed waterproofing in the future, or recommend them to anyone else who needed it.

This review is delayed but well-deserved. We had a problem with a doorknob on an interior door. We asked Tom if he could help us, even though we weren't sure it was really a locksmith job. He came by, replaced the doorknob and even added a lock high on the door out of reach of our toddler, when we expressed concern about the toddler one day pulling a Houdini. Great service, great lock, and such a great guy to talk to. We recommend Victory Locks without hesitation!

I waited 4 weeks to post this review, so I could say if it really worked. Kayyam came to our house 4 weeks ago. He was very considerate of my request to spray only in specific areas (behind furniture, where kids wouldn't have contact with the spray). I really didn't expect FULL control of the centipedes, since there were so many places I asked him not to spray, and I figured I'd be satisfied with even half success. However, it's been a COMPLETE success and I'm very happy about it. Kayyam was punctual, considerate and seemed very responsible. I would definitely call Pesticon if I ever need pest control again.

When I called around for a company to come dig up some invasive tree species that had sprouted up in my front yard, (but had grown very large very quickly) many companies said my job was too small for them to tackle. Most said they were focused only on big jobs. Tree Doctors was the only company to say yes, they could help me. The estimator, Geoff, came by and gave me a call to confirm we were talking about the correct trees. He gave me some useful information about Sumachs and how quickly they grow. I then called the office to give them my 10% deposit, and they sent someone to do the work the very next day. The man who came to do the job (I believe his name was Sergei), was very friendly, and was careful to double-check with us that he was removing the correct trees (we wanted to preserve some other trees in our yard). He was throrough and hard-working and cleaned up all the mess. I would definitely call them again.

Our furnace stopped heating, and I called 2 different HVAC companies. 1 of them didn't return my call. Reliable not only took my call, but also sent someone the same day! Darryl took my call, asked me to email details and soon after I got a call from Dave to schedule an appointment for the same day. I was impressed with the 1-hour visit window, unlike the 3-4 hour window I've usually been given for service calls. Dave showed up within that 1-hour window. He was both friendly and professional, and took his time ensuring he was making the right diagnosis. It turned out to be a problem with the thermostat, which he fixed. The heat is now working again, hurray! I would not hesitate to call Reliable again for any future problems with the HVAC system or for installation of a new system.

It's been a year since our last professional cleaning. I wasn't satisfied with the last place I tried, so I chose Lux based on the Homestars reviews. I was really impressed with Lux. Al was quick to call back and work out a time. The cleaners, William and Katrina, showed up early and were both pleasant and professional. The cleaning products were natural and left no odours behind. They made sure to address all the jobs that were on my priority list, but took care of a few extras too. e.g. when they cleaned the fridge and freezer, they also organized it, so that I now have lots more useable space. All in all, a great job that was worth the money and I would definitely recommend them.

After trying without success to find screen door to fit our unusually-sized sliding glass door, we tried Magic Mesh. After a couple of days, that fell down. Until a few weeks ago, I didn't even know there was such a thing as a company that comes to your house to build window and door screens of any size. I wish I'd known about them ages ago. Matt came and built a screen door for the back patio. He was done before I even got home and only needed me to open the back door so he could attach a locking mechanism. The screen looks good and slides beautifully. I would definitely use them again if I needed another screen.

Dial One was very quick to respond to my call and get us an appointment time that worked for us. Josh was very knowledgeable, answered all questions – and was in and out in no time. Pleasure to work with. Super duper. Highly recommend.

I wasn't at home on the day of the cleaning, so the day I moved in was the first time I saw the cleaning job. Let me start by saying most of the house looked a LOT better than before Maid for You came in. E.g I was really impressed with the job that was done of the main floor bathtub, which was looked incredible. However, there were some things that I was not satisfied with. As I put all the kitchen items away, I was surprised to discover that many places in the kitchen (some cabinets and drawer interiors, as well as above and below the cabinets) were untouched, with years of dirt and grime left to be cleaned. Other areas were wiped down, but not given a proper scrubbing, so they're still dirty. I ended up spending a lot of time cleaning, while surrounded by all my kitchen things, on the day I had hoped to be merely putting things away. I wouldn't give a poor review without giving the company a chance to offer an explanation, so I sent an email exactly 2 days ago to the company telling them all this, but I have not heard back from them. So that's also a disappointment. ADDITION: Shortly after this review was posted, I got a call from Kay saying she had not received my email. She offered me either additional cleaning or a refund and I have accepted a partial refund.

The #1 reason to go with Victorious is the service! Mark Aydin came to our home, not once, but 3x, to ensure we were 100% satisfied with the style and colour of the carpet samples, before our installation date. Mark is the epitome of integrity - it's clear from the moment you meet him that he's one of the few people you'll meet working on your home that cares as much about your home as you do (maybe even more!). Victorious installers were at our home during the record-breaking heat wave. But that didn't stop them from finishing that day nor did it prevent them from a fabulous job. The carpet itself is gorgeous: soft and thick, and a delight to vacuum. Tonight my 3-year old said to me: "These carpets are EXACTLY the colours I wanted. I love ALL of it!" Victorious absolutely deserves all the fine praise you see here on Homestars.

Tom made a great first impression by answering my inquiry quickly. I was also happy to hear there was no extra charge for a Saturday visit (another locksmith had told me that a Saturday visit would cost extra). Tom showed up right on time, got our lock re-keyed and also put on a great lock on the back patio door. We enjoyed talking to him and were happy with his work. I would definitely call him again for any future work.
