I have been dealing with Balsalm for over 10 years. Always excellent work and reliability. They have always found time to come as fast as possible and there work never requires followup. Fully recommend them.

Having been told by one of the drain specialist companies that we needed to excavate to clear a blockage in the main drain - very costly - we sought a second opinion. Mitch, Peter and Adam came, confirmed that we had a main blockage and then solved the problem with no excavation and at a fraction of the cost. They were quick and efficient and paid attention to detail when finishing up the job. I can't say enough good things about this family business.

We got a quote from Balsam based on a recommendation from our neighbourhood facebook group. We had another company have a look first, but were put off by the impression that everything was a hassle, that there were a lot of urgent issues, some marital advice thrown in, and general superior attitude.

Peter from Balsam was a breath of fresh air! He has such a positive, 'can-do' attitude, and he and his team work very well together. It was a pleasure to work with them. Peter is very knowledgeable, but shares his knowledge with kindness and generosity.
We have a very old (maybe 75 years) tub, which did not have an overflow valve. The drain was in a very tight space in our wall, which happened to be open due to a kitchen renovation. Working in the space was not a problem for them. Peter had only see one like that a few times in his career. He was happy about having the opportunity to train his team on it. A big difference from viewing it as a hassle. The team found ways to save us money where possible.

They installed our new bathroom vanity, along with new tap and the kitchen sink got new tap, drains and pipes, all done very tidily. Our upstairs toilet was replaced, along with taps for bathroom sink, and a new seal ring for our main floor toilet.

In addition, Peter and team worked to replace a very old rusted out rad intake pipe in a hard to reach place. New rad shut off knobs were also supplied. system checked, etc.

All work was done in a tidy and quick fashion.
Scheduling the jobs around our kitchen reno over multiple days was very easy with Maureen in the office.

Over all, we loved working with Balsam plumbing and recommend them whole heartedly.

Old copper toilet drain leaked - complete bathroom reno. Other places told me I would have to add false walls / bulkheads in order to do the layout I wanted. Peter got it done without any of that. Fast. Professional. Hope I never need a plumber again, but it will be Peter if I do.

I called on advice from my neighbor as water was backing up into my basement and I've had several bad experiences with contractors recently.

Peter came over 2 hour ater than I was told by their office (I was notified of the appointment an hour before he was to come and had to rush home). He was very confident on the solution and I trusted him that I would be okay going forward.

I was deceived on this first experience and our pipes are backing up again. Peter was insistent that our issue was a blockage in the sewer going out to the city. We called the city and they used a camera which showed their sewers were clear with minimal tree roots.

I called Balsam to ask about next steps and if the next visit could have a reduced costs as I was quite clear at the time that I thought it was a venting issue due to other erroneously work by previous plumbers. I was told that they considered the initial job complete and I would have to pay the full amount.

I wasted $230 dollars for Balsam to use a plunger which made the system drain better for a week. That money went down the sewer faster than my water.

So, I do not recommend using them. The lady on the phone was quite cold did not care at all about the job not being actually fixed and just wanted to get their money. I would be more than happy to work with them to resolve but I feel that I should not have to pay the full visit costs when they didn't look at it properly the first time (plus being hours later than promised on the day they were here)

I met Peter, the owner of Balsam Plumbing and heating when I moved to the Beach 20 years ago. I was renovating 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. Peter was absolutely great - on time so the reno wasn't held up, very knowledgeable about great products at a good price; and those products are all serving me well. All of the family members working in the business are dedicated to: excellent service; quality work; and reasonable cost. This is a family business that serves our community with excellence. And all of the family members are all round good people.

Peter was efficient, knowledgable, and fast. He explained everything about rads., taps and toilets that needed work. He is a very pleasant guy, has a sense of humour. Have called upon him over the years and would recommend him to anyone.

Wow! Peter came to the house and did a fantastic job by installing a new outdoor faucet as well as installing shut off valves inside the house. Easy to work with, has a clean work area, flexible and does great work. When I compare Peter's work with other plumbing projects in the house, Peter's expertise clearly shows the difference between a good plumber and an awesome plumber. I would highly recommend these guys.

Great service, VERY knowledgeable plumber. He arrived a little late but he's the first plumber that actually figured the problem out. He walked throughout the house, and checked for various pipes by looking under cabinets, sinks, etc. but ultimately came up with a solution 2 other plumbers never even thought of.
