furnace repair service

First day I waited 7 hours for the technician to come, he spent 10 minutes to check, second day I waited another 7 hours, the technician was late for about 45 minutes as promised, spent 10 minutes to replace the part. Totally they charged me 2.5 hours of labour, which is twice as much as the part cost. I feel they over charged me. And the sales attitude was bad.

High Efficiency Furnace & Humidifier Install

After consulting with many HVAC contractors, I finally settled with Davenport Campbell to replace our mid-effficiency furnace to a modern high efficiency one (Trane XV95) along with a humidifier installation.

Brad, Davenport's salesman and our first point of contact, carefully explained our options, heating jargon, and this is important – he listened to our needs and advised us accordingly of our options. He never up-sold us nor put undue pressure on us unlike some of the other contractors we interviewed for the same job.

Of all the companies we consulted, Brad:
-- properly took measurements (only 1 other company took proper measurements)
-- advised us of our heating options and explained jargon
-- provided us with specific furnace & humidifier model numbers for our further Google research
-- and followed up with a proper written quote, with installation options and equipment, including warranties well explained (again, only 1 other company took proper measurements out of the many we interviewed).

On our negotiated install date, we welcomed 3 very professional installers – all very experienced and one, Benny I think, was as excited as I was about my new wiFi thermostat. The installers were polite, exceptionally detailed in their installation, and after my furnace installation, they completely tidied up.

I should also add, the high efficiency furnace models I was considering were Trane, Carrier, and Lennox. After narrowing down to either Trane or Carrier, Brad offered quotes to install either furnace model preference to our home without bias.

That said, it's very pleasing to have discovered Davenport-Campbell and more so, given that the installation went flawlessly. They are the best and simply, I recommend them unreservedly.

Air Conditioning; ducting

We installed AC plus cold air returns in our old (1880's) townhouse. It is 3 stories and they were able to figure out how to make the 3rd floor bedroom cold - it was a recent renovation to the attic. Tyler was our contact and was great - very responsive and good at offering solutions. He came by after we were having some trouble with air flow to explain our ducting and how to improve air pressure (no charge!). He knows how to provide good customer service.

Installing/servicing ac/heating

For at least 10 years Davenport Campbell has supplied and serviced our room-level ductless air conditioner/heating units (we have purchased 8 of them). Reception, owner, technicians - the firm's staff are knowledgeable, reliable, and a pleasure to deal with. The AC/heating units themselves perform well. All in all, Davenport-Campbell has been the sort of partner one hopes to find when seeking long-term support.

HVAC

Brad and the folks over at Davenport Campbell did a great job. And a year after installation there was a small issue, and they came back to address it asap. First Class Service.

Furnace and air conditioning

A couple of weeks ago we had a furnace and air conditioning unit replaced at our cottage. It was a difficult job, but the 2 fellows did excellent work. They worked under very difficult, cramped quarters. They removed all of the old parts.

A/C unit move

We had Davenport Campbell move and reinstall our existing A/C unit and also move the dryer and furnace vents. They were very professional and courteous, and did an exceptionally high quality job. They also did some troubleshooting on the spot and we were very pleased with the end result.

Installed new AC unit

The original AC unit for our house (8 years old) was undersized and installed improperly under a deck with very poor ventilation. It did little to cool our house and was ridiculously noisy, and not very energy efficient. We got several quotes and Davenport Campbell was the lowest by a hair. We were very pleased with the installation - arrived on time, did a professional job and even installed an outdoor outlet for us as well (another thing the builder had neglected to do at the front of the house!). We also had them install an air purifier at the same time. We continue to get them to do our yearly furnace cleaning and check, and they recently installed a new boiler & hot water on demand for friends of ours who were also very happy with their work.

Air Conditioning

We had a mixed experience with Davenport Campbell. The sales and post support people were fine but the original installers of our new air conditioning unit were "amateurish". I believe they may actually have been let go after our experience.
First were the delays. I had booked time off from work to oversee matters (electrical panel locations and other matters). After several phone calls from the installer(s) saying they would be late, then later, then later still.......finally, they arrive on the following day (a Saturday).
Second, I actually had to step in to assist in the system startups by pointing out that certain systems were not working as they said (and ready to leave). I had to point out specific electrical systems were not switched on and a disconnect panel outside had not been engaged.
Third, after the system was working we noticed the cooling effect was ineffective.
Finally, a guy shows up who knows his stuff. The original installer had let much of the coolant escape during the install and we were almost empty. This guy was great - a pro!

In the end, we had some better people show up to fix our complaints and received some satisfactory monetary compensation for our troubles. (But we're still missing our Air Conditioner cover) - We'll be calling this spring.
We may have just been the unfortunate ones to experience a bad hiring decision. I think the post support people may have proven this to be true.
