Master Concrete & Interlocking

Based on recommendation from a satisfied customer and review of online comments we selected Master Concrete for our project. There were a couple of communication issues prior to the start of the project. Once on site in April 2017 Hercules and his hard working crew completed the project efficiently and to our satisfaction. It looked great. A year later the driveway remains in excellent condition.

Having successfully used homestars.com for various house projects over the last few years, we once again used homestars.com reviews to narrow down our search for a concrete company last spring. We extensively researched and interviewed owners Hercules and Lucy, and even spoke in person with former clients to ensure Master Concrete was the best company to do the job.
Much to our dismay, our experience with Master Concrete went from concerning to disastrous when it came to installation. Not only did Hercules fail to execute our front walkway as we specified to him in person, his team’s power-washing and cleaning process left us with over $8,000 in damage to our property. When we had Hercules back to survey the incorrect installation of our walkway, he became very animated, blaming us for the faulty framing and pour. He also failed to acknowledge and take responsibility for the extensive damage his team caused to our property, and even suggested we fabricated the over $8,000 in repair quotes we provided Master Concrete shortly after the damage occurred.
Overall, our experience with this company was very disappointing; therefore, we cannot recommend Master Concrete.

We are absolutely thrilled with our stamped concrete front entrance and back patio. Hercules and his crew did a fantastic job. Each day the crew were very professional and friendly and left the area clean and tidy. After the initial digging and framing of the patio we decided to extend it - Hercules was very accommodating and we greatly appreciated that. We have received many compliments and are looking forward to the summer on the back patio! Would highly recommend.

This is the second time we have used Master Concrete, at two different homes. We went back to them because the job, the results, and the service are excellent. Hercules and his entire crew work really hard and do a very professional job. The results are absolutely beautiful and we would not hesitate to recommend them. It was just done, we have another week to go before it can be sealed and already we have had numerous compliments.

In March Hercules gave me a quote for an aggregate driveway and walkway with a scheduled start date of May 29th. Right on that date his crew arrived and cleared the existing asphalt. The next day the concrete was poured and the day following it was scored and washed clear. A week later facing was applied to the edges and two days following the edging was finished, Seven days after that Hercules applied two coats of sealer to complete everything.

The finished product is excellent and we have received many compliments on the appearance from neighbours and people passing by. I am very impressed with the end result, the attention to detail, the steady focus in completing the job, the flexibility and willingness to incorporate a couple of extras and the courtesy and professionalism of Hercules, Tony and the Master Concrete crew.

In summary selecting Master Concrete to do the work resulted in a most satisfying and rewarding experience. I heartily recommend them for any concrete project.

Update!
July 2018, Master Concrete came out and repaired all outstanding items, they even included power washing the driveway and sealing everything no charge, while also offering a free sealant in 2019. I have upgraded my rating to reflect.

The driveway looks beautiful again, and we thank Master Concrete for the repairs.

We had our driveway completed in August 2015 by Master Concrete, the end result was a beautiful driveway and still is, although there are a couple minor issues on the stamped concrete near the doorway area including a hairline crack which is not easily visible although over time I am sure will be, the repairs we wanted were all reported well within the warranty period, within a month or two after the installation, although the company has yet to repair any of it or contact us to set something up, we are always told that we are on the repair list, well that was almost two years ago and still nothing.

This is the second time I have used this company. I had aggregate steps poured several years ago which cracked in 1 spot during the warranty period. Master Concrete was quick to come look at the issue and correct it. Due to our positive experience with how the issue was resolved we decided to use Master Concrete again for a larger job. Shortly after the job was completed and again within the warranty period we noticed several chips and missing stones in the driveway. We immediately reached out to Master Concrete to have it looked at. It took some time to have someone come out to look but Jennifer and Lucy made it out and agreed that what we were seeing should not be happening. Herc also made a trip out to see the driveway. Master Concrete arranged for the concrete company that supplied the concrete to also come out to see the driveway. They too agreed this was an issue.

Master Concrete agreed to rip out my driveway and replace it. They would take care of all labor costs and the concrete supplier would take care of the concrete. All good right? Not quite. Because Master Concrete was having similar issues with the supplier's concrete they decided to switch to another supplier. When this happened the supplier decided not to honour their end of the job which of course was the concrete.

CUSTOMER'S FIRST

Master concrete is now on the hook for the entire cost of the job which includes ripping out the 4 car driveway, re-forming, re-pouring and finishing. This is all out of their pocket!

Obviously, not having any issues to begin with would have been ideal, however the true test of a reputable company is one that stands by their work and looks out for the best interest of their customers. (This is the type of company I want to deal with)

I would recommended Master Concrete to anyone looking to have concrete work done.

They were phenomenal to work with. Their price was extremely competitive and they bailed me out of a pinch. I had lined up another concrete company as well as another paving company. The folks at Master Concrete were so good, that I was willing to lose my deposit with the other contractor. The crew was professional and diligent and the work was done fast. I would highly recommend them to any family and friends!

Beautiful patio and walkway done last year! Very professional, excellent customer service and quality workmanship. We explained Tiago what we envisioned and he captured exactly what we wanted. Hercules (the owner) and his crew showed on time and finished the job leaving my house perfectly clean. The final results were better than we could have anticipated. It looks amazing. After the winter our patio was "stained". I called Jennifer and Hercules responded immediately and fixed it. Finish looks like new again.
It's great to see service excellence is not lost.
