After an exhaustive search for a flooring provider that had reasonable costs, I found Mike's Caret and Flooring.

While their showroom seems a little shabby and needing some external maintenance, the work Mike's Flooring does is amazing.

While they were about 30 minutes late arriving to start the job, the crew got right to work. They work quite hard.

My only complaint with Mike's would be the communication skills of some of the labourers they use. Often they are very hard, if not impossible to understand, so that came make it difficult to understand what is going on or how much longer the project will take for that day. The office staff themselves are very good and easy to understand.

One other note, you may want to prepare yourself for when they leave. While their proposal says they do not clean, they really do not clean. We had a fine layer of wood dust on everything that had to be cleaned ourselves. While I expected some clean up this was more than I expected. However, the perfectly installed flooring made it worthwhile.

I met Mike years ago. At that time we lived in a older house. We needed big time revnovation. The floors we so ugly. We had the thin, cheap carpet. The hardwood was totally scratched and lino in the kitchen. We hired Mike and he changed all the floors in each room - beautiful job! Couple of month ago we sold our house and purchased a new one. The new one needed new carpet and tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms.  We had lost Mikes contact information but we were sure we wanted to hire him again because we had a very positive experience the first time around. We eneded up finding Mike on Homestars and thank god we did. He is as professional and honest as he was 15 years ago. The only difference is that he has way morespecials on flooring. So the process was tthat he came out to our home for the free estimate. He brought samples with him. Measured and spent an hour with us explaining our options. We ended up visiting his showroom again to view more products. The sales rep was awesome! She did a great job on helping us out. We decided right there and made the deposit and booking. They booked us on our time and date and they were very flexible.
The day of the installation the carpet installers showed up on time :). Made us very happy.  And got to work right away. The carpet installation for all bedrooms, hallway and stairs finished in one day!!! The tile installation was the following days as we requested that. The tiles in the kitchen were modern and clean. We used the same tile in the bathrooms. We were so pleased with the tile and carpet installers! All in all the job was way over well done!!! I highly, highly recommend Mikes Carpet and flooring. I build a home office in my home. I hired Mikes carpet to pain and install the carpet for me. They did a fantastic job so I rehired them to install carpet in the bedrooms. I highly recommend them. Professional service. Clean job! High quality carpet

I had a long and painful bad experience dealing with Mike. Things started off badly waiting for the installer who was 1.5 hours late. I had to call the office and chase him down. Typical for this guy apparently, as he was late subsequent days as well. I had told Mike I didn't want any transition pieces in my floor in between rooms as they are ugly, makes it difficult to clean and breaks up the line of the floor. This wasn't communicated to the installer, I now have transition pieces in between 2 rooms. One piece of laminate was installed with a chip in it, and never fixed or repaired as promised. I also have a section of squeaky, bouncy floor. I had ordered baseboards from Mike and the wrong size was installed and the installer joined them with silicone, ever try to paint over silicone? What kind of amateur does that?! It took daily calls to the shop and to his cell (which he never picked up or returned calls) to get the issue fixed and that only happened after a few weeks of frustration that I finally wrote a long email and threatened to go to BBB. Then I got a call back! I finally got the installer back who did a half ass job fixing the bouncy, squeaky floor which now squeaks less as he fixed half of it but stopped a couple of boards short of fixing it completely. As compensation Mike had his painter come paint the baseboards but that too was a lousy job and he had to come back to re-do it. It could still use some work. I had voiced concerns about the flooring going under the dishwasher as well so that it would be level, I was told not to worry about it, that it would be taken care of. It wasn't done properly, the dishwasher immediately shimmied off of the tiny edge it was on and was unlevel. It took my partner a good couple hours to sort it out himself. So other than Mike being charming when you speak to him and saying all the right things, he is a nightmare to get a hold of once you pay, workman ship was not great and it is an exercise in frustration to get anything fixed.

We have used Mikes Carpet twice now and both times have been extremly happy. Recently we reno'ed our home and needed hardwood to be installed throughout the house. Mike's employee worked hard for a week to make sure the floors were installed correctly as well as to the way we wanted.....adapting for transitions etc. We are now in the process of getting new carpet and Mike has been deligent in quoting us a fair price and helping us with our needs. I chose Mike's Carpet & Flooring based on all of the glowing reviews here on Homestars. Their prices including install are almost unbeatable. So I had Mike come out to give me an estimate on the flooring project. In the end, the estimate given to me by Mike was exactly what appeared on my final invoice which was great.

When the install date arrived, the installers Jameel & Justin arrived right on time. It's great to see true professionals at their work. My townhouse is 3 levels & about 2000 sq ft. By the end of the first work day, all of the flooring was pretty much done! They came back the next morning to do the final bit of work which only took a couple more hours. I couldn't believe how fast & efficiently they worked, not to mention that the work they did looks incredible! I'm so happy with the way the floors turned out.

I'm also extremely pleased with the quality of the underlay used in the carpet installation. I have a friend who used to work in the flooring industry & she always harped on me about not going cheap on the underlay. When I explained to her that the underlay was included in the carpet & install price, she had her reservations about the quality. When all the carpet was installed, I brought my friend in to have a look at it. She was so impressed with the quality of work & the quality of the underlay used. She couldn't believe it when I told her the sq ft pricing of the carpet including install & underlay! Now she's planning on re-doing the floors in her home too :)

I am pregnant and getting ready for a baby. We hired them to change our carpet to laminate. They did a beautiful job! Finished on time. We couldnt be happier with the service. Getting ready for a baby can be ecpensive so we were greatful for the promotion that Mikes Carpet had. It made it easier for us to say yes and go for it because it was such a good deal.
