We had 3 quotes to refinish floors with hydronic heating for a home that we recently purchased. Of the 3 David was most knowledgeable. He was the only one with a theory of why the floors "aged" as they had; he discussed in great detail his company's process and the materials they use; he also disclosed that he charged a slightly higher price to compensate for the higher quality finishes. The work was exceptional and was completed on time. Great value for the money.

David Bane's company did a beautiful job on my floors. I was very happy with the end result. The quality of workmanship was perfect. In prepariing for the job, David provided me with many samples to choose from and when I met him, he gave me excellent advice on the type of stain colour to choose and I did! I am very pleased.

The work has improved my house value.

We were in a position where we had to get our house ready for sale in lightning speed, and our floors were in terrible shape. David Bain from Rafina suggested, due to the timing and cost, that we lay a pre-finished floor on top of the existing damaged floor. The job took only one day with virtually no mess. Installing the new floor eliminated about 80% of the squeaks in the old floor, as it was nailed right through to the sub-floor. The material David suggested, pre-finished white oak, turned out to be gorgeous and a great match for the laminate in our kitchen. The visual impact the new floor made to our home was spectacular. We got many, many positive comments during the showings and our only regret is that we will only have a short time to enjoy the floor before we move because the house sold in less than a week. I had badly damaged original hardwood floors that I hoped to have refinished. David was willing to have his staff try to repair the floors. His workers soon discovered that the original hardwood was beyone repair and a new floor would be necessary. After a few phone calls with David I decided on a new floor. David was able to source some beautiful new hardwood flooring the same day and delivered it himself. His install staff were great; they did a fantastic job, they cleaned up after themselves and they took the time to answer questions. The new floors look beautiful.

Rafina did a fantastic job installing 4 inch white oak flooring in our 80 year old home. They had the difficult task of levelling seriously uneven areas. The outcome is wonderful. We had a flood in our condo this past summary (the filter for our 130 gallon aquarium blew a gasket) and the floors in our hallway, living room and dining were under water for 5 hours. Needless to say, the engineered hardwood that Rafina had put down not 3 years ago was completely ruined. We called David and he quickly sized the situation up and gave us an estimate for the insurance company. The work entailed removing the ruined floor (including a portion that was originally installed by the builder), leveling the concrete (which entailed grinding off the glue that the original floor was held in place with) and then putting down a new cork barrier and finally the new floor and quarter-round. The new floor looks as good as the original and unless you've heard the story, you would never guess that it had been replaced. Thanks David for making our home a home again!

We just purchased our first home and decided to remove the carpet and get the floors refinished. I read about Rafina on Homestars and decided to call them. David promptly made an appointment to come over. He was friendly, courteous, personable, and seemed as excited about the new floors as we did! We needed them done before we moved in and despite knowing what all the tv shows say about having contracts, etc., we trusted David from day one and arranged everything verbally and on a handshake. David was helpful in picking the stain (we opted for Rosewood bringing us a sample to look at and helping us decide the finish. His workers showed up as promised and let themselves in and out with no problems. The house was left clean and neat each day. David called often to give me updates. When we got to peek in at the colour I emailed David to say how happy we were. David emailed back, "it only gets better from here." And he was right. The floors are beautiful. I would not hesitate to recommend David. The floors have made our new home a showpiece. Thanks also to Nick for the trim - looks great (please note: the trim was kind of hellish as the baseboards were set higher than normal so required some hunting for quarter round!). If you go with David at Rafina you won't be disappointed. Rafina rocks!

This was one really messy job - re-doing a disastrous hardwood job done by another contractor. It meant - ripping out the badly done floor, re-laying and finishing the hardwood, plus a lot of patch work on parquet flooring also messed up by the other trade. It was a nightmare job - tight space, fully finished walls, house already post-construction cleaned. And to top things off - the previous guy lied about the finish which led to challenges getting the finish coats to match. They showed up when they promised, worked efficiently, and kept the mess to an unbelievable minimum. And they did not leave until we got the right finish - which ended up being custom mixed. But to end it off - we have a beautiful, non-squeaky floor at last! I am happy to recommend them to others.

Without a doubt David /Rafina Hardwoods was one of the most exceptional companies to deal with in regards to my new home build. Always accomodating and very professional in installing my entire home with 4'hardwood. Workmanship is second to none and a very respectful team on site to make sure the work is done to your satisfaction. This was so very important to me as I've discovered there are numerous lazy, disrepectful & untrustworthy trades out there.
Take it from me a seasoned reporter who investigates everything, there is no need to search any further for a hardwood floor company. David and his team will look after your project and not only give you the best product/service available but are also likely to beat their competitors prices.
