The Concord Group

Paul C and Mike provided excellent service with regards to the deodorization of my home. They did a great job removing the odor in just a few days and showed a great deal of commitment and professionalism.

Our home recently suffered serious water damage from a broken water line in an upstairs bathroom. We contacted The Concord Group to perform the flood clean-up work and subsequently selected them for the renovations. As a previous reviewer posted, we initially found Concord to be professional, knowledgeable, and very understanding of our situation (hence choosing them for the renovations after the clean-up work was done). Their cleaning of our flood damage was very well done. However, as the previous reviewer said below, Concord's subsequent poor quality of some of their renovation contractors, seeming lack of interest once the job was awarded, and poor follow up work and communications, despite our continued requests, left us also feeling very dissatisfied in the end. I was also troubled by the fact that one of their 'handyman' contractors took on the role of both electrician and plumber, and I am confident he has no licenses or certifications in either trade!! We definitely won't use or recommend them in the future.

In the torrential rainstorm of July 2013 water leaked into one room in our basement. We called our insurance company and they sent out a “clean up and restoration” team the following day to rip up carpet and under pad, cut out the lower portion of the walls and disinfect and dry the room. Subsequently they advised that they could not come back and restore the room for, maybe, 4 months. We ran out of patience and, after getting the external waterproofing done, started getting quotes from other companies. Several gave quotes in the 5 figure range to restore what is a small room – 18’ x 13’.

Some years ago, when our furnace leaked and soaked the basement carpeting, we had called Concord who came out and fixed the problem immediately. We decided to see if they could help with our current problem.

Nick came out, looked at the room and seemed to understand that we did not want any major renovation, just a simple job to make the room useable again. Rather than ripping out all the old panelling, he agreed that the room could be set to rights by filling in the lower half of the walls, adding a chair rail to cover the join, laying down carpet tile and installing new baseboards. He promised us a quote the next day. Sure enough, the Concord group sent us an acceptable quote within 24 hours, a quote that was significantly less than most of the other contractors.

Less than a week later, Rob and Hamid appeared as scheduled and completed the job in one day, albeit a long day for them. They did excellent work and completed the job as it was set out. They were pleasant, hard-working and polite. And – this is a big plus – they cleaned up all the trash and waste from the demolition part and took all the waste away. They also left us with a good supply of the carpet tiles, to be used if necessary in future.

We are entirely satisfied with the job Concord did for us and would recommend them to anyone who wants good work done at a reasonable price.

I hired the Concord Group to deal with waterproofing issues after the big Toronto flood. While many people in the city had to wait months to get Waterproofing done, The Concord Group got the job done in days, were very professional and delivered great work at a competitive rate.

The colour of the flooring The Concord Group installed was very different from the colour we chose. We don't like the colour, but were told that since they had already purchased it, that was the colour our floors were going to be.

The flooring creaks and crackles -- probably due to the uneven cement beneath. The flooring was not continued to the edge of our tiled sunroom -- there was a 3" gap (of cement sub-floor) between the rooms which was subsequently filled in with hardwood by Concord weeks later. It does not look good.

The baseboards were pried up by Concord, damaged and re-used. Some pieces of our baseboards are just missing now. The damaged areas of the baseboards were painted over, but are still highly visible. Many of the baseboard nailheads are exposed, some have been touched up, but with a non-matching paint. The new caulking at the top of the baseboards is smeared as much as 3/4" up the walls. Therefore, we must install new baseboards ourselves and re-paint every wall in our condo.

Fingerprints of some kind of adhesive were smeared all over the floors near the baseboards, and it took me dozens of hours (I am disabled) on hands and knees to remove it.

It took several weeks for Concord to come back and re-install our bedroom door -- they had just left it leaning against the bedroom wall.

We originally obtained the services of The Concord Group through our insurance company, and have never been given a contract to sign, and have no warranty or guarantee, even after requesting these from The Concord Group several times and being promised them several times as well. Most of our phone calls and emails to The Concord Group were responded to weeks later. Once they were responded to, we had to wait weeks more for further action (if any) to be taken. We think they just wanted to wait us out and to eventually give up on getting any satisfaction from them. We still have absolutely nothing in writing.

It feels so terrible to be treated like this.

I recently returned home from vacation to find 2 storyes of my home flooded from a broken pipe. The Concord Group responded to my call in less than an hour. They made an extremly stressful situation not so stressful in the end, with their speed, knowledge and qualified staff.
In dealing with The Concord Group, my husband and I found their approach professional and reliable. In particular, their cleaning crew was very detailed. I found their pricing very fair and competitive. I will continue to use The Concord Group and would not hesitate to recommend them to my family and friends.

They were on time and very skilled, they got rid of some tough stains in my carpet caused by my pets. They seem to be a very well organized company from their secretaries to their cleaners. Excellent job Concord you can expect one more repeat customer.

This company was very fast new what they were doing and did it. They gave me a quote and stuck to it they were fantastic to deal with and would bring them back to work on my home in a second.
They were considerate of our home and the fact that we have very little children in the house and they took extra care to make sure that the house was as clean as they could keep it over the few weeks that they were here.
