Upholstery of chairs

We had an armchair, a side chair, a cane chair and a rocking chair with matching footstool to recover. The Toronto School of Upholstery was prompt in their response, was happy to let me supply my own fabric, and their prices can't be beat. They speedily finished the work and I was very pleased with the results. Kyle was friendly and helpful and arranged the delivery around my new condo's rules, and the delivery men let me come down to the truck to attach felt pads to the bottom of the chairs so they wouldn't damage my wood floors. I would use them again.

Re-upholstery of 2 reclining chairs

We had two reclining chairs re-upholstered. Doug asked for $1627 and we did not argue the price but we stressed that we wanted a good job done.
He reassured us that we did not have to worry about that. Far from the truth! Unfortunately when we went to pick up the chairs, the job was very poorly done: poor stitching overall in both chairs (e.g. loose and missing stitching in several locations); puncture marks from previous stitching that was undone; open seams; leatherette not stretched tightly over both chairs (including the arm and head rests) leading to a loose appearance and excessive wrinkling of the material etc. Doug agreed to correct the problem. His excuse was that this was a difficult job which could have been communicated to us and we would have made alternate decisions. There was no communication other than the calls that the chairs were supposedly ready. After 4 trips, the job ended up being less than professionally done. Because the front part of the chairs looked better than they had been in the previous 3 trips and we were sick of it, we ended up picking up the chairs and paid the full price.
The shop is very small and we didn't have a chance to turn the chairs upside down and look at the underneath of the chairs- there had been so many problems with the top part! When we picked them up and turned them around to put them in our vehicle, we saw the horrible job they had done in the underneath seams and the zippers which were of 2 different colours. They left the old material on the underneath of the armrests. The attached pictures speak for themselves. Unfortunately he already had our cash money and we are stuck with this job. I hope that you take this review into consideration before you decide to use this company.
