Inspection & Hook-up of Gas BBQ

I called Visic Bros. when I needed someone to inspect and hook up my gas BBQ to my house's gas line. They did a great job and were friendly and helpful. They also took a quick look at my fireplace when I mentioned that I had a question about it. Thanks guys.

Furnace, A/C and Hot Water Tank replacement

I got a number of estimates from several companies for my leaky hot water tank replacement as well as new furnace & A/C since they were quite old and inefficient. The Visic Bros estimate was not the lowest but when considering the quality and efficiency of the Lennox equipment they suggested, it was the best. During the installation, the team was very courteous, they worked hard and fast and they finished the whole job in a day without any damage to my property. They brought brand-new equipment out of the box, they protected the working areas with drop sheets, they professionally installed everything and at the end of the day the carefully cleaned the area. I was very pleased with the whole experience and I am glad to recommend this company to anyone who needs HVAC work done.

Furnace and AC replacement

Hi all,

I own the home I grew up in. I love it. So I'm quite familiar with the furnace that was in the house since 1980. It was a Lennox 70% efficient furnace that only stopped working once, due to a faulty hi/low temp limit switch - not bad for a 30 year old unit.

I was set on using Lennox for my replacement system, but I compared to Carrier as well.

I had five different quotes. One particular salesman from one particular "huge" company was full of sales pitch. I suggested to him that I wanted a specific Honeywell thermostat, and an HRV. He balked at the idea that I wanted to change the "menu" from his sales pricing. He was intent on having me sign that night, however, his high pressure sales tactic wasn't going to win me over.

I researched the equipment I wanted, and called Visic. Angelo came out to visit me in December 2009. He looked at the faded inspection tag on my 30 year old Lennox, and guess what?!? It was Visic who installed it!

Angelo suggested that my plenum was too large, and he was right (one other company - Laird and Son who was my only other choice - suggested the same). I asked for a Lennox cased coil to sit on my G71MPP variable gas valve and DC drive motor furnace. I also got a 15 SEER air conditioner, also a Lennox. Lastly, I wanted the best Honeywell thermostat, the Vision Pro IAQ. It can control my Honeywell TruSteam humidifier (which I recommend for this furnace), which Visic also supplied. It can also control my HRV (when I get it installed this winter), not to mention, it varies the humidifier output based on outdoor temperature.

The installation took two days, and Angelo's son John did the work with several other key technicians. They made a new plenum, a new J return, and installed a nice Lennox MERV16 filter.

The furnace sits on four riser blocks, so it's off the floor. A nice touch, as my floor isn't anywhere near level, AND.. the unit won't rust from sitting on the floor - if there was ever a water leak.

The Honeywell TruSteam humidifier works like a charm, and works perfectly when the furnace is only putting out 40% of its total output.

Now, it took a while to get used to the furnace, because the air movement is MUCH lower than my old one due to the variable speed fan. No big deal, once the house was warmed up, the Vision Pro IAQ thermostat manages the temp SO well, that it is incredibly comfortable. That is to say, it's the same temp, all the time.. no peaks, no dips.

Sure, it wasn't cheap, but I didn't feel comfortable with some of the other companies, especially with this kind of money.

A furnace is one of the most important things in your home, and it's worth every penny you spend for comfort (and energy savings!)

So far, my heating bill is more than 40% lower, due to how this unit works. Would I recommend Visic? Yes, absolutely.

I'm having them come back for a bbq gas fitting and dryer rough in, oh, and an HRV after my second energy audit.

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Do your research, don't settle for "packages". Buy a good thermostat, and a good humidifier. In my opinion, the Honeywell TruSteam is the only choice. The other units simply dump water down the drain, especially when the plenum temps are so low during low heat output. The TruSteam can run when the furnace isn't.

Repair of Furnace

This past winter I awoke to a very cold home and realize the furnace hadn't been working all night. I called Visic brothers and had a repairman in my home before noon. He was courteous, didn't need prompting for shoe removal to venture to my (finished) basement, and I was fortunate enough with him having the part my furnace needed, and my heat was back on within 40 minutes of his arrival. With 5 small kids I was worried I'd be out with the holidays <24 hours away, but all was well. Unhesitatingly recommended.

Furnace repair

My hot water gas furnace broke down in February and I contacted a number of companies that either told me over the phone or showed up and advised me that due to its age, my furnace had absolutely no chance of passing the TSSA CO test (maximum of 100 PPM) and that if I wanted heat back in my house, I needed to buy a new furnace (presumably from them), which would cost me up from $6,000 to $12,000 (depending on the efficiency level selected)

One of the original Visic brothers came and had a look at the furnace, said that it was simply not possible to pre-judge the outcome of the test regardless of the age of the furnace, offered to fix the burner for $50 plus the cost of any parts required and to administer the required TSSA CO test for an additional $150.

The repaired furnace registered a reading of 2-3 PPM (i.e. passed with flying colours) and I had the heat back on within less than an hour of Mr. Visic's arrival, for a grand total of $200.

When I do replace the furnace, it will be an easy decision as to the company with which I will choose to do business (the honest/competent one).

Furnace Install

These guys installed a high efficiency furnace into a house with a system of duct work that won't support it. Now we are having serious problems and they won't take any responsibility. One of the Visic brothers himself was also seriously lacking in manners and charged me for labour on a four month old system he put in. I don't recommend them at all.

Company Response

We professionally installed a new quality furnace to ventilation that was later modified.

The new furnace was subjected to an enormous amounts of abuse/damage as the furnace was in full operation with a plugged filters

This does not fall under any warranty

She is taking her problems and trying to make them someone else’s responsibility

Emergency furnace repair & New furnace estimate

Excellent explaination of what was needed to fix my problem. They showed up promptly and replaced the fan. Recommended Visic Brothers to my brother who was equally impressed. His old furnace was judged to be in excellent condition and a new furnace was not required.
