Argos Carpets

Alex (salesperson) was quick to respond to my email inquiry for a quote on new carpet. He came by same day with samples to show me. That's where the positives end.

I ordered a light coloured carpet - it ended up dirty from dirt, etc. dragged from the removal of the old carpet by the installers feet. Not their fault (although maybe good idea to vaccum up the dirt, dust etc. to avoid tracking it). I reached out to Alex who came by to see the issue (along with the installers). I was made to feel by Alex like I was seeing things even though it was obviously footprints. He actually said to me "you know, when you get light coloured carpet, it's going to get dirty". Inappropriate and completely unhelpful comment, also contradiction to his saying he didn't see the issue.

In the end he used a spot remover on each step that really did nothing but at that point I wanted him to leave my home. He was condescending and rude to me.

A week or so later and I've just had the installers back to my house to tighten up the carpet as there were several stairs with a large ripple in the carpet midstep. Twice Alex sent the installers to my house without my knowing when I wasn't home, so lack of communication there.

Once they tightened up the carpet, one of the installers told me "I've never had to come back for one job so many times". To which I responded it wasn't exactly a pleasant experience for me either.

Upsetting experience overall, I will never go with Argos again nor would I recommend to anyone. Perhaps there are other Salespersons who are more pleasant to deal with, Alex is not one of them.

These guys botched the carpet install at my house. I told them to either redo the carpet or eat the cost because I'd have to replace it eventually anyway. They disappeared for four months, I moved on with my life, then their legal rep showed up at my house on a Sunday afternoon with the 'invoice', demanding I pay.

I showed him the carpet, he agreed that they wouldn't charge me and that I could remove it and return it at my convenience. Then they tried to charge my credit card anyway without telling me, which I had lost the month before and had to get a new one. Then they tried to sue me in small claims court, where we eventually settled, just because at this point I wanted them gone and out of my hair.

I had a great time going through their design centre. I found a laminate floor that i had seen on sale at home depot and asked if they could price match. They agreed to price match. I am very happy with my choice.

Have dealt w them for years. Once dye lot wasn't same throughout carpet. Otherwise, watch carpet grades cuz can be really cheap. No problems w installers. Never! Team work. Clean. Polite unless you get a non professional which once I did but was replaced w professionals.

I had my carpet installed almost 3 years ago by Argos and though the salesperson was very friendly and knowledgeable, I can't say the same about the installers. One of the workers complained about my stairs not being built properly and proceeded to hammer into my walls surrounding my stairs to force the carpet in. They also damaged some walls when bringing in the carpet.

Our family hired Argos to install hardwood floors and although the product is beautiful - there was one piece that was left sticking out and family members kept getting feet stuck on it. We called them and they said they would order a new piece for us, never called us back so we called again and were told quite abruptly to wait until the piece came in - they never called back and we handled the situation through someone else.

Do not hire Argos, their (in their words) "best install team" arrived with no tools and no experience. After administering first aid and lending some tools,,, I guess not in that order.

They rushed every step and did not backup their work nor promises of restitution for delays, inconveniences, tool rental, first aid services and etc.

I'm sorry but I will never recommend these people to my mother, brother, friend, or even enemy.

We bought all our hardwood floor, ceramic floors from them and they were awesome. We dealt with Peter and he was great to deal with. We have done two houses with them and they are professional, up front and honest. Fun - make you laugh. Good shopping experience and you can call them on phone if you know what you want,

The installers were pleasant, and quick, but the finishing was not as good as I would have liked, and did not clean up after themselves. They also did not show up with the underlay that I had originally ordered.
