Hollywood Hardwood Floors

HORRIBLE!....One of Many words I use to describe Josie and her company named Hollywood Floors. Everything you read here that is negative and explains how horrible the experience is, is the best way to describe things. She is full of excuses and empty promises. No one hardly ever shows up let alone on time, the workmenship was unfinished and a waste on my $5000! My partner and I hired her company to re-finish our hardwood floors, install new oak stairs, posts and railings. The floors came out great because 2 men outside of her company came in to do the job BUT SHE installed the stairs claiming to know what she was doing because the person she originally hired to do the job never showed up. She is very sneaky and advised me not to speak to the workers while they work. I didn't listen to her. After speaking to them, they informed me of how unprofessional she is! Please! Please! Please! DO NOT hire her. If anything…..Run Away. She does not know what she is doing and shame on me for not researching her enough prior to the renovation. This is a lesson I have learned and I am taking with me through all my future home renovations. We needed to hire another contractor to finish and clean up the mess and the unfinished work. She made our lives MISERABLE for 2 weeks. I am here to make a statement to maybe avoid and prevent another innocent person from going through this. Needless to say, the Better Business Bureau has several cases against her giving her ratings of an "F" for Failure. We did have a contract that stated the work would be done in 2 weeks but by the end of the contract date, she was only 60% done which is why we needed to choose another avenue to finish the work. She asked for an extention to the contract but we refused to do so because we did not want to deal with her anymore.......

Interesting. I have to say, my experience was very different then the above mentioned. Firstly, I found Josie to be extremely accommodating, more so then I expected.

Secondly, she explained all the options (as I was concerned about flooring options for a basement apartment in terms of mold resistance), clearly and concisely, and I feel, quoted a fair price.

Her work is meticulous, and she presents as quite the perfectionist. She would not leave until it was perfect, and, as a perfectionist myself, I was A-okay with this.

Overall. I am beyond satisfied with the work, and will refer Hollywood Floors to others!

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY, and I use the term company lightly, Jose is nothing but a con-artist and thug. She NEVER speaks the truth and always had a story about why she was unable to make it to our house to finish the job she started. She makes many empty promises. The people she brings to do her jobs never have anything good to say about her because she does not pay them. The man that was working on our stairs quit mid-way and said Jose is not the person we think she is. He wished us good luck and Jose is still unable to get a hold of him. Jose is a fraud I hope she will be out of business soon, so that she will not be able to take advantage of innocent people anymore.

Josie of Hollywood Floors, never came through with what she had promised. We hired them to install our hardwood floors and stairs. My husband and I were promised things that never were followed through on. The start day of the job never happened. Josie called us an hour and a half late the morning that the job was suppose to start and told us that she needed more money before she could start the job. We have already paid her $2500 in cash which was more than 50% of the whole job. It took over two weeks to have our hardwood floors delivered from the said date and she failed to show up with any workers that would unload the wood. I was six months pregnant at the time and she just stood there watching me trying to lift my wood out of the truck claiming that she had a broken hand. I called my father to help and she swore and screamed at him on my front lawn threatening to call the police and her lawyer because he was defending his pregnant daughter.
She is incompetent as a business owner that gives you the constant run around. You will be willing to lose money just to have her out of your lives (she has 400$ of our cash that we will never see for the stairs). Save yourselves and NEVER hire this company no matter how enticing her prices are. You will never get what you were promised.

They were horrible from the start. They had trouble getting contractors to do the work, and the project went on for months. They kept promising and in the end after receiving 90% of the funds, abandoned the job. It cost us much more to repair the floors after they were done. Promised the world, delviered sfa.

We really should have looked here first. We hired Hollywood Floors because it was local, family run and undercut other quotes. Like the other writers, we have been waiting for the completion of a very small job. We have been given the run around and excuses exactly as the history outlined in the other reviews. we have been living without a kitchen for 3 weeks because she said she could not install the floors properly without tearing out the cabinets. We did that demolition ourselves. They did not start on the agreed start dated. they did not show up for an entire week and left us without even a subfloor. The work is very shoddy - including a 2 foot goudge in the middle of the kitchen, in TEAK!!!!! They finished laying the floor, promised to fix the goudge, the dimples, the splintering, etc. etc. etc. They left us with the garbage in the middle of the floors. We cleaned it ourselves so that we could do a proper inventory of how poorly the job was done. Josie says she will be there in an hour and then no one shows up - everyday!!! Since contracting with her, the store on St. Clair has closed and she is working out of her van. THAT SAYS IT ALL!

In June 06 we hired Hollywood Floors to level our floor and install hardwood. We paid them a down payment of $3000 and they came in and ripped up our existing subfloor. That's where the work ended. For 2 months we got excuses, they used our house as a storage facility, the used our tools and ruined a saw blade, they damaged our new drywall and our vents, they didn't deliver our hardwood, they left supplies out in the rain, and they gave us the run around. We finally had Josie Rosso write up another contract listing an end date as we were paying rent on an apt while we waited for our floor to be installed. She obliged and set a completion date for Sept 1, 06. By Aug 31 no one had been to the house yet or done any work so we removed the key. Josie called us on Sept 1 and said they were ready to begin work...we told them no thanks. The contract stated completion by that date. They've refused to refund our money and refused to supply us with the hardwood. Josie has even told us that we owe them for the work that was done.

they've since left their location on St Clair so if you find them elsewhere DO NOT hire them!!

We bought our hardwood from Hollywood Floors because they had good prices. We ordered a type of wood based on what the owner, Josey, told us. When the product arrived -- and halfway through the installation -- we discovered that it was a totally different type of wood than we'd been told (and different than what it said on our order/invoice). She outright told an untruth to us. Further, she disappeared for days -- up to a week -- without even the courtesy of returning a phone call. When she finally would call, she was full of ridiculous excuses (traffic accidents, floods, the dog ate it...) about why the work wasn't done and why the rest of our wood hadn't arrived. (We decided to overlook the wood bait-and-swap in order to just get the job done. It isn't very much fun living in a house with no floors for a month!) We then found out that she hadn't been paying her workman. That is simply appalling, since he was the only professional, puncutal, truthful part of the whole mess.
Do not be lured by the prices here, it is not worth the hassle, and no one should support these terrible business practices.
