We recently completed our 3rd project by Almac, this one being by far the most ambitious. (Our first was 26 years ago)
We met with Alan numerous times before and after during the collaborative design phase. Once construction began, Alan checked in almost daily.

Almac Landscape did an awesome job on my backyard. Very helpful from start to finish on design. Very knowledgeable. Very reliable. Always showed up early. I wanted it done before my daughters wedding. Having been a very wet spring he did manage to have it done on time. So many compliments. I couldn't be happier with the work he and his crew did.

We moved into a new home and were looking for full landscaping services. We spoke with several companies and ultimately landed on Almac as our first choice. The owner Alan is knowledgeable, easy to deal with and listened to what we were looking for. He went over potential designs with us several times until it was exactly what we wanted. When it was time to execute, his crews worked on our house and finished before moving onto to another. There was no downtime in between trades, it was finished quickly and efficiently. The folks working in our yard were respectful, happy to talk to us about what they were doing and kept the yard spotless and safe. The final product is beautiful and top quality. We've gone through our first winter with the new yard and don't have a single issue. We are thrilled with the result and would gladly recommend Almac to anyone.

Could not have asked for better service and reliability. The owner of Almac was very helpful in advise us in the design of the project and made multiple visits to our home to go over the plans as they were being developed. The design he produced was clear, specific and highly detailed so that we knew exactly what we would be getting. His knowledge and experience, both practical and in terms of design suggestions, proved valuable in helping us formulate our wishes. Costs associated with the agreed upon design were also detailed and given up front before commiting to the project with Almac. Almac was on site at the time promised and completed the project in within the estimated time. Everything was on budget as agreed to with no surprises. We were kept in that loop throughout the project. Almac's crew was extremely friendly and approachable, very helpful and extremely skilled in all they did. The team worked well as a unit, with each person (5 in total) knowing and doing their role without wasting time waiting upon instruction. Throughout the job, they made suggestions for our consideration as the project developed on better ways to accomplish our aims. In most cases, we followed those suggestions to our satisfaction. We were particularly impressed with their attention to absolute care and accuracy in measuring, construction and attention to details. From our perspective, they certainly went above and beyond what we feel would have normally been expected. Even though we live out in a rural area a fair ways outside of Calgary, yet the crew was there and working every morning at the agreed upon time. They put in a full day's work, even when temperatures were exceptionally hot (which was the case for at least half the project timeline). The owner was onsite daily to ensure that we were satisfied and that the designed plan was being followed exactly and the project was on track. Throughout the project, the owner checked in with us to get our input, listened to our questions and suggestions and acted on them where applicable, usually without extra added costs. Throughout the work, the site was kept very clean and safe. They never left for the day without ensuring that everything was properly put away or organized, etc. so that the site was safe. Bottom line - it was a real pleasure to work with Almac and we can easily recommend them, without qualification, for anyone's landscaping and hardscaping projects. They have the experience, the skills, the imagination and the work ethic not to mention a guarantee of their work to properly handle all your landscaping and hardscaping needs and will readily incorporate any individual wishes into their designs.

Based on HomeStars’ ratings and reviews, we contacted 2 very highly rated companies for a quote to remove an existing wood deck and replace it with a stone patio. Alan said that they don’t do free quotes and charge $100 for a consultation, which we agreed to. Although the project is very straight-forward, I removed 2 boards from the deck so that Alan would be able to see the sub-structure of the deck, ground level, etc but he did not look at them. Alan seemed more interested in increasing the scope of the job rather than discussing the stone patio. When Alan was ready to leave, I asked about the quote. He said that they would need to do a design in order to prepare the quote, and that would cost approximately $1000 with the cost would be credited to the job if we worked with him. When pressed for a quote, he provided an estimate of $40-50,000 without doing any measurements. We live in an older house and have had extensive work done over the years. This is the first time we were asked for a consultation fee, and we were remiss in assuming that it included a proper quote.

The 2nd company contacted was very professional, understood the project, did not try to increase scope, took measurements and provided a detailed quote that was roughly half of the low end of Alan’s estimate.

Based on the reviews in HomeStar, it looks like AlMac does good work. However, be aware that a quote will cost over $1000 (for a straight-forward design) because a design will be required, they will charge significantly more than their competitors, and they will try to increase the scope of the project.

Our front walk way and steps entering into the home were in dire need of an upgrade not just curb appeal but safety issues as well. Now our entry way is something that we can be proud of. The work speaks for itself. George and Christian did a fantastic job of the entry way ,Adam, Robert and Dennis made my walk way look incredible. And of course Alan for the design. The work was completed on time efficiently and with great care. The team was very approachable and all issues were addressed quickly. Thank you Almac it was a very pleasant experience. To be sure we will call if in need of anything else

Alan and his crew did an amazing job. They worked extremely hard and completed the job on time. They were respectful, knowledgeable and communicated well. We highly recommend Almac Landscaping.

We have used Almac twice in the past two years for a major upgrade to our landscaping and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. From design to completion everything was done with quality and craftmanship as the highest priority. Alan offered many great ideas to upgrade our front and back yards. The stairs and new paving stone walkway and patio were great, and the added fence and pisa wall garden made our house look the best in the neighbourhood. George and his crew were excellent to work with and did many small "extras" that were greatly appreciated. I'm sure Almac is not the least expensive landscape contractor but we felt their work was worth everything they fairly charged. We would not hesitate for a moment to use them again.

Almac Landscapes did an excellent job on our major landscaping project in 2007. So when I needed some upgrading work done on the landscaping, I called Almac Landscapes again. Alan came out promptly to look over the work I required and gave me an estimate within a few days. His team started on the promised date, the work was done on schedule, for the agreed price and the workmanship was once again excellent. All mess was cleaned up and my yard looks beautiful. We are very, very satisfied with the major landscape project we just completed with Almac. Working with them exceeded expectations from start to finish. Alan was very detailed in his landscape design which involved a new front walkway and steps and flower beds and a large patio and new steps in the back. He made multiple visits and made sure we were happy with his drawing and then incorporated a few changes we wanted. His crew, especially foreman George, were amazing. Their attention to detail and quality was just as promised. They were respectful, very hard working but never rushed anything and our neighbours have made multiple positive comments about how clean and quiet the worksite was considering all we have going on. I would highly, highly recommend Almac and we'll be using them again next year to finish our major overhaul. They were not inexpensive I'll admit, but worth every cent.
