Kitchen reno finished in the fall. Started strong, easy to deal with, couple of snags along the way, nothing major. Mostly happy with the work.
After the under-counter plumbing sprung a leak and flooded our basement, we called them back to fix, along with tidying up the mismatched and sloppy crown moldings.
After that, there was dead silence. Promises of new product on the way. After a few unanswered emails and phone calls, it turns out their doors are locked, and staff have been let go.
No notice to customers who have paid lots of $$$ and waiting for work to get finished, or even get started.
Not cool.

We in good faith, paid a $1000 deposit, they lagged on the schedule and giving us designs/starting the project. We thus went with another company. Despite initiating nothing, we received no compensation or refund. I will remove this if they return all or a reasonable part of our money. Again, I get that a deposit is so a company is not out for work started, but no work was started and if any plans were drawn up we did not receive them. This has always stuck in my craw.

There is no words to describe my disappointment about this company. I used Granite Direct for my kitchen renovations, we bought granite countertops for my kitchen cabinets. It was pretty big and very expensive project. When you invest thousands $$$ you expect great product and quality. The stone they installed is such a cheap and poor quality. The worst thing was the seam, in some spots the seam is almost 0.5 inch. They sent service guys 3 times to fix it, and of course each time the seam just got wider. One piece they got was cut not straight, but thank god they replaced that piece. Also the stone was not sealed when they installed, so after first time of use of my new kitchen countertops got all stained and greasy. They sent service guy to clean the stains, but he couldn’t get rid of them, service guy was surprised as well why the stains are not disappearing. The stone was all discoloured and my new kitchen looked very bad. The stone was installed at the end of January. So we had to fight with this company for 6 months to get everything sorted. Finally at the end of June they came to replace the damaged pieces. Still they treated us like crap. Also they still managed to crack the stone while installing the faucet and it was left cracked. They lost couple screws from my filtered water system faucet, all they could say was just go to Rona and get new one yourself :) what an excellent service lol
Customer service is unbelievably poor. Quality of product and installation is very bad too.
The owner Jeff is the most rude person i ever met. He also commented that granite doesn’t look that bad so i could live with it. I doubt that he would like to have that in his own kitchen.
It was my worst experience ever. We been going through kitchen renovations and dealing with a lot of building companies and never had so many issues like we had with granite direct. And i would like to say stay away from Granite Direct, as the prices are not cheaper at all than the other competitive granite companies. If you want to waste your money, time and nerves , go ahead . Granite Direct will help you :)

Granite direct replaced our cabinets, tile, and countertops. They were on time, the work was good quality, and I was really happy with the customer service. There were a few snags getting things finished, but I was always updated on delivery times and everyone showed up when they were scheduled, and did great work. This was our third reno project, and by far the smoothest.

Granite Direct delivered a decent looking final product. Unfortunately, they have a massive scheduling issue. They ask for 100% payment up front and then take their sweet time finishing the work. Their sub contractors who do tiling work and cutting of the quartz slabs are poor and do not know how to stick to a schedule. I had to constantly call the owner for an update for the install because they could never stick to a timeline. It was a frustrating experience so I would not hire them again.

Quality is good when it was done. The work was promised within two to three weeks and was almost 3 months late. I think I heard every excuse a contractor could come up with!

The work was subpar at best. Julie West was good to deal with but, like I told her, the quality of work and product was bad. During install they damaged walls, did not clean up the edges and were irritated when I required them to come back to fix the issues. Final sanding of mud on the walls was not done, I was asked to do it so they didn't have to come back and marks on the edge of counters were not repaired by the vendor.

Also, had a disagreement with the owner when I would only pay 50% until the product was installed. I explained that I would never pay for 100% of any product until install was completed - otherwise I have no recourse if it is not done properly.

Overall,

We did the demo ourselves. We waited until late afternoon on the day the granite was to be installed. When we called, they told us the polish machine was down. From that day on there was minimal communication from the granite place. They kept giving us times they were coming and then wouldn't show up and did not call us to let us know. We ended up taking time off work for a week expecting granite to arrive. After a week it was finally installed and that day we waited until late afternoon. Due to all the cancelled appointments, the amount of eating out from not having countertops/sinks for a week, and time taken from work, we were out a lot of money which the company did not seem to care about. We recommend if you use this company that you do not pay in full until the job is complete

Replaced granite counters with quartz counters. A 50% deposit was required when I signed the contract; the remaining 50% was required BEFORE demolition could commence which I reluctantly paid but felt was unacceptable. Communication was sorely lacking throughout the process. The end result is satisfactory although the damage done to my brand new dishwasher handle has never been resolved to my satisfaction. I was offered the cost of the handle and told to source and install the part myself. I declined and asked for Granite Direct to get the part and arrange to have it installed. That was more than 7 months ago and I have not heard from them since. I would not recommend them.

Countertops and installation of sink. The work completed was high-quality. We received a lot of compliments on it. However timing for work was poor. We scheduled for morning and workers did not show up until 5 PM in the evening. You could tell that they were exhausted and in a hurry to get done. We had to delay the plumber until next day in order to avoid overtime.
