We chose NuSite because it was the only company who looked beyond our one leaky foundation wall to consider the entire house and property. During his assessment at our home to determine a quote, David's thoughtful insight resulted in an unexpected and far better location for the sump pump and discharge pipe than the one recommended by competitors. His expertise was generously shared to improve our understanding about other issues such as eavestroughing and surrounding trees--and what changes could be done. Work was done promptly, professionally, properly, tidily, and charged as quoted. All in all, NuSite provided a great solution for a problem no home owner ever wants.

We recently hired Nusite to underpin and waterproof our basement and were extremely happy with the work done. The job started with an initial consultation with David Steinberg, who visited our house at the outset of the job to get a sense of the scale and complexity of the underpin. David was friendly, generous with his time and very knowledgable and we had a detailed quote from him within a matter of days.

After getting our permits (and working with Nusite's preferred engineer, Wesley Peter, who was also a pleasure to deal with) we were set to begin. We were worried about construction dust in our house so David specifically advised that we should wait for his best crew - a father and son team run by two gentlemen named Jakub and Marc, as they were his cleanest and best workers.

I'm glad we waited for them, as Jakub and Marc (and the rest of their crew) were the best contractors I have ever worked with. They were extremely considerate of our space and meticulously clean. The basement workspace was always immaculate and they regularly swiffered and vacuumed our first floor to minimize the dust. The work itself was great and done quickly with the job taking ~ 8 weeks all in.

Communication was also very good - Jakub checked in with me on pretty much a daily basis to keep me informed about the job, and was always available to answer questions at any time.

All in all it was a great experience, and I would happily recommend Nusite to anyone looking for any type of structural or waterproofing work in the basement.

EDIT: we have since used Nusite for some additional work - they dug and installed a window well for us also did some structural framing (the owner Geoff also builds custom homes). Once again the work was top notch and they were super responsive. The other trades on my job were very complimentary of their framing work too.

NuSite is an amazing company, and their team leader Jakub is an incredible professional. We loved the care that went into the underpinning and waterproofing job. The whole process was explained to us beforehand, and we were kept informed of any changes to the timeline. For example, because of the friable nature of the soil, NuSite modified the planned pit sequence to increase the distance between active pits, guaranteeing the safety and integrity of the house as work progressed. Furthermore, the job site was kept incredibly clean and organized at all times. The cleanliness and precision made our basement-in-progress far more akin to an archaeological dig than to a construction site. All these factors bespeak the care and professionalism of NuSite, a company that we recommend wholeheartedly.

We were in the process of completing a renovation at our house in Toronto and had to select a contractor to lower the basement floor, install a bench footing and complete interior waterproofing with a sump pump. Nusite was one of 3 contractors interviewed. During the selection process it was clear that David had a thorough understanding of what was required to complete the job and provided clear recommendations on the process to follow. The work started when David had originally specified and they actually came in early to assist with the forming of structural footings so we could get a head start on other parts of the project. We recently hired Nusite Contractors to underpin and waterproof our existing home and waterproof an addition. On top of the outstanding quality of their work, considering how important the underpinning process is, they have been on time, on schedule, polite, courteous, and respectful of our neighbours. Before finishing up, they even offered to remove some left over cement from my neighbours home with their backhoe because they were aware of what neighbours have to put up with during the renovations. I highly recommend Nusite.

All I can say is that these guys are the best under-pinners / water-proofers in Toronto. Here is why:

Our journey with Nusite began with Jeff. Well spoken and clean cut guy, met us at our home and took the time to really explain everything that would happen. I had a lot of questions as our case was a very special one. He answered everything flawlessly, without being pushy in the least. He really listened to our concerns and was very thorough.

Our home is a semi-detached and we did not want ANY issues with our neighbour. Our home was built in the 1930’s (Old Semi) and part of the soil structure might have been unstable. We needed experts that would do an amazing job, with absolutely no chance for a risky structural problem for either my neighbour or our property. Jeff explained everything in perfect detail and made sure that I understood. He and the team at Nusite helped me with obtaining all the information my neighbours lawyer wanted in order to give us permission to proceed. Jeff and his team (David etc…) really went out of their way, and we are very grateful. Without the neighbours consent, the City of Toronto would not grant us the permits to begin. This process was a lot of back and forth, and during this time, Jeff & David were very professional and responsive. Really went above and beyond for me and my family, as well as my neighbours. We are very greatful for their patience during those months of back and forth. Really an unusual circumstance for them I’m sure.

Nusite was not the cheapest quote I received, but as the good old saying goes: “You get what you pay for”. That couldn’t be more true in this case. You see, what I came to understand later is that Nusite doesn’t outsource any of their work to the cheapest bidder. All of their staff are in house employees, and represent the company. This is very important, especially for a big job like an underpin. You don’t want the labour outsourced to anther company as there could be liability issues down the line, and there is no guarantee of a quality job. With Nusite, that was not a concern.

Then the job began…

We met with Jacob and his team. All I can say is these guys are some of the most respectful, clean, precise contractors I have ever met. Every day, they would come in, roll a carpet down to protect our floors and would do a job that is so clean, you can eat off it. Even the city inspectors were in awe! They protected my grass outside. Were mindful of my neighbors on the other side too.

They did the underpin in very small tranches, to ensure foundational stability and really took care of our property better than if it was their own. They used laser levels to ensure that each cement pour was even. They ensured that my wife could continue to do laundry and reconnected the washer and dryer downstairs countless times. They installed a new beam through the home and replaced my old wooden one. They were thoughtful, respectful and I will never forget the job they did. Jacob (and your team), than you so much. I can tell that you really love what you do. I really shows in your workmanship.

I now have a house that is on stronger footing than ever before, a basement that my kids can play in safely.

Nusite went above and beyond, and I’m certain they will do the same for you. Do yourself a favour, and hire them. You won’t regret it.

We had a persistent damp spot develop in the concrete slab floor of the garage, after 26 years of living in the house with no issue. We were unable to identify the cause. Gemil from Nu-Site came within a few days of our call and diagnosed the problem. He gave us a range of possible solutions, including Plan A which required some labor on our part but no costs and might be sufficient. We very much appreciate the diagnosis and honest advice from Gemil. We are going to try Plan A, but if it does not work we will definitely follow up with Nu-Site.

I noticed water damage at the baseboard of my finished basement and immediately thought the worst - the foundation was cracked behind my drywall and a lot of repair was needed. I called Nusite and Gemil came out to check the problem. He immediately diagnosed the problem that the leak was not at all from the outside but an internal pipe problem. He opened up the wall a tiny bit and videotaped the leak from the damaged pipe so I could see the problem. Gemil took the time to check the exterior too and confirmed the foundation did not show any cracks. It was such a relief and Gemil was so knowledgeable. Thank you for such excellent service!
