Southfield Windows & Doors

I was in need of all new windows and 2 doors in our Waterloo home. A coworker used Southfield windows and after hearing how impressed she was with the quality, price, and service I called Jason and setup a consultation. After seeing the quality of their windows and having their installers pre-measure everything so there were no surprises, I was sold. The installers are very good at what they do, I was surprised at the quality and speed of work. I will be ordering a sliding glass door which I should have done with the others. Since our home is 1940's he even helped me decide on a lighter color to break up some of the wood interior, I love the look. The exterior was finished in black and it boosted my curb appeal immediately! Would highly recommend!

Called in a very simple customer service complaint (for the sake of him training his staff better...not to get some kind of refund or other special treatment) and was basically told that he didn't believe me. Just sat there on the phone, giving nothing.

You can spot this kind of guy a mile away: it's all friendly as long as you are friendly. The moment you have a complaint, he closes his eyes and ears like a toddler and says "la la la."

Well, I won't be back.

Although the products seemed good, we have had continuing problems with fit since 3 doors and sidelites were installed 4 years ago. First it was the storm door. After 2 or 3 visits it was fixed. Then a window in another door leaked air and moisture condensed on the glass. It was replaced but still leaks. The screen on that window is now inoperable. The lower weatherstrip fell off one door after 3 years. The putty or silicone covering nail holes is discolouring. I complained to the BBB but Southfield did not even have the courtesy to respond to them. Even though their invoice says there is a lifetime warranty on their product, they refuse to come out to rectify the problems.

We had two windows and a patio door replaced in 2016. The quality of the windows was good upon initial installation, however the vinyl from the patio door frame has been coming detached. Contacted the company in mid-December and they have yet to address the issue. Correspondence from the company has been nearly nonexistent. The problem continues to become worse. Also during installation the installers damaged the window and patio door sills, claiming that they were only cement and easily damageable. If the installers knew that the window sills were easily damageable, they did not take any steps to protect the window sills during installation.

Last year we had four new windows installed at the front of our house. This year we had a new fiber glass front door with sidelights and transom. They were very helpful in picking options, very friendly. There was no pressure or hard sell. There were lots of back and forth emails to pick a door style, and when we sat with them in their showroom they really helped us pick the style and make it look good. When we made a last minute change to extend the frame up splitting the transom into 3 windows there was no problem. They made the windows and doors close to the time frame they gave, and the actual installs were quick.

Very responsive, friendly, helpful, and good quality work at a very fair price.
