Moving

Like everyone here, I did my homework. I first got a few quotes from different movers and decided to give Energy Crew a try. After I confirmed my booking with them, I did a background check on them and the first few reviews I read on this site made me rethink my choice.
So I called them to find out exactly what they thought of them if they even cared. Not surprisingly they defended themselves. The first few explanations (excuses rather) didn’t fly with me, but what caught my ears was the fact that the girl humbly acknowledged they do run late some times and it did seem like she was very honest and did not want me to think they never did.
Why am I writing this? First because I think I almost let a few reviews on Homestars stop me from discovering what turned out to be a great moving company I’ve happily recommend 3 times since my move. Second because my move made me realize how unreasonably demanding and, yes, unfair we’ve all become.

It just doesn’t seem to matter anymore what a great a service a company does if they’re a few minutes late or make 1 or 2 mistakes. Anybody, like me, who’s moved into 55 Charles street West on a Thursday afternoon, will feel sorry for any mover. Let alone the traffic at that time of the day, the underground parking space is shared by more than many buildings and it literally takes about a minute to remove stuff from the truck to the elevator. Luckily for me, I live 3 doors away from the elevator. Now imagine if I lived at the end of hallway? You got it, that’s some messed up walk right there! So my small 1 bedroom apt that would have normally taken 3 hours to move from Keele & Bloor ended up taking 4 hours and 17 minutes.
Why else am I writing this? Well because, like my movers asked me at the end of the move, what if they had another move after mine and I lived at the end of hallway, but didn’t tell them? What if I had tons of books, but didn’t think I would consume a good number of tots? You guessed it! They would have run late for whoever else moved after me for sure. Would their next customer even care to understand? Of course not! That’s the point of being a customer. We just don’t give a crap.
It’s almost been 13 months since they moved me and mother’s friend to whom I referred Energy Crew asked me about some bad reviews she read on the internet and I came in here to check and I noticed the same reviews I saw when I hired them. Nothing changed. No new reviews, no new good reviews, no none of that. So I thought I should tell the world my intriguing but happy story so next time I recommend someone they don’t just see the bad reviews. It’s funny how we’re quick to point out something negative, but always never feel it necessary to acknowledge a good deed.
Sorry I won’t post my number here for testimonials. I just don’t wanna be called at 10 pm when I’m supposed to be doing something else. My only advice to everyone is: Get more than 3 quotes, run a background check on each company and make your decision, not just based on a few reviews, but on other things like: do they have an office, are they and do they behave like a real company, how long they’ve been in business, are they professional, do they make you feel comfortable and also consider the positive. I just found out that Google has some excellent reviews on them.

moving

Showed up 35 min late, lost some of my stuff...broke my desk and made me wait two hours before they came to look at it...then gave me $20 bucks to fix it myself. Tray never returned my calls about the missing items. Movers were reasonable but not supplied with the tools to do the job. Don't use this company.

Move of home

Initially, contacting Energy Crew appeared straightforward. They seem to reply to emails and calls quickly when I was shopping for a mover. I disclosed everything about the old and new home while they were estimating a time and cost. And the price seemed very competitive.

Unfortunately, on the move date, they were over an hour late. When I contacted them, they insisted that I received a call about the late arrival. No call was received. One of the two wardrobe boxes to be provided was not available, which resulted in us packing our clothes in garbage bags we had to quickly buy from the convenience store and having the clothes damaged during the move. Our fabric furniture was not wrapped as requested (due to lack of materials available) resulting in permanent stains during the move, and although the crew were helpful and friendly, I strongly felt that their head office and management completely left their staff in the cold them in terms of providing appropriate materials, and budgeting the time, and putting the moving crew in a position of being rushed by clients for the low ball estimates the office provides prospective clientele. To make matters worse, the doubling of the estimate cost was done on a REDUCED amount (approx 15% less) of items I disclosed, as I moved some sensitive items prior to the moving date myself.

Needless to say, I was not pleased, and contacted both Roxanne (office manager) and Treigh (owner) about this situation. Roxanne deferred all issues to Treigh and never bothered to return my calls or emails. Treigh was nice enough to call me once to discuss the issues, and promised a call back. Since then, its been over 4 weeks and no response even with follow up emails, voice mails and phone calls.

It has been a very discouraging move, and I would highly recommend you do not use this provider. Both Treigh and Roxanne to learn appropriate client service techniques and need to clean up their logistics and scheduling before they can become a desirable mover.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Be honest and forthcoming. Face the facts, and listen to clients. The delay in getting back to me, I felt, was to buy time before I voice my comments.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Don't use them. At all. Highly discouraging. Cancel any bookings while you can. There are many well established, highly rated companies out there.

moving

I recently moved from a 1bed lower to a 2bed upper apartment and after much research, chose Energy Crew. The initial estimate for the move was dead on and communication with the company was efficient and thorough. A glitch arose on the day of the actual move, they were 2 hours late due to an issue with the truck, Triegh and Roxanne kept me updated, the guys, when they arrived, were courteous and got right to work. They worked quickly and efficiently and got the whole move done in less than the estimated time, in spite of it being over 30 degrees outside and 3 flights of stairs to the new apartment. Would definitely use Energy Crew again and recommend to others.

Move from apt to house

Booked movers for 2:30pm. They showed up 2 hours and 45 minutes late.
The friendly company contact was to find out where my movers were and call me back - but she forgot to call me back - so I called her again, she then told me replacement movers were on their way.
I called her back at 5:05pm to check in, and got a message the office was closed. No emergency contact number, no way to find out if anyone was actually going to show up - all this while my elevator was booked from 3-5pm ...they finally showed up at 5:15pm.

They did supply (belatedly) three movers for the price of two - and despite a few broken glasses were generally good.

I would not recommend this company until it is better managed.

moving

We used energy crew to move from an apartment to a house. If you are moving from apartment to apartment and don't have a lot of valuable furniture, you could go with them as they are reasonably priced.
A lot of our furniture ended up with scratches and nicks; however, the two pieces we said were important, were fine. Nothing was broken.
A few scuffs on walls in the house. They are a no frills moving company - no mattress covers, they were supposed to include two wardrobe boxes, but didn't bring them.
We would rate them as just okay overall.

Moving

Well, they didn't overcharge or waste time, but overall, the service wasn't great. They showed up 1/2 hour EARLY, when I wasn't ready. They worked like wildfire, but showed no care when handling my boxes marked "fragile" and "glassware". At least two of my glasses were broken. One of the movers put his arms around my girlfriend, and is lucky he's not being sued for sexual harrassment. The biggest thing is that they jammed our sofa and got it stuck in the door of our new place, and then broke off the hall fire alarm when they tried to get it out. I'm being fined $350 by the City for the false fire alarm. When we contacted Treigh to inform him that we thought Energy Crew should pay the fine since they were responsible, his response was, "Oh, let me check it out and call you back." It's been two weeks, and they have never called back. They seem to think that if they ignore us, the problem will just go away. So, the choice is yours. They won't hold your furniture ransom or rob you, but they certainly didn't show the kind of professionalism that would make us use them again.

Move

We had a wonderful experience with Energy Crew Movers. While booking the job, the customer service and communication was exceptional and quick. They even showed up early to get the job started. They were efficient, friendly, and well worth it. I've recommended them to a close friend and she loved them too.

Move within city

We've had mixed experiences with movers in the past, so I was cautious when booking a moving company for our most recent move. Thankfully, with Energy Crew there was no need to stress! They arrived on time, completed the move quickly and with a positive attitude, and were careful with all our furniture. We'd happily recommend them to others!

Moving service

I hired Energy Crew back in July 2009. Unfortunately, the moving service they provided was sub-standard. Wes, who I guessed was in charge of the moving team, had a bad attitude. In addition, they damaged a number of my furniture.

Their handling in addressing the damages to the furniture was not any better; it took many calls and much aggravation before I was compensated, 5 months later.

During the whole ordeal, I tried visiting their office at 30 Burnhill Road. They do not operate out of this address. The address is for a residential apartment, which the management office mentioned to me that they had never heard of Energy Crew.

I would be very cautious if deciding to hire Energy Crew.
