Gary's Appliance Repairs

Gary came to fix a leak in the fridge. At first his service was good minus one cancelled appointment. After 1 week the leak continued and when we called to have him come back he said it would be an additional $100 even though he clearly didn't fix the problem. I am in the home reno business and would never get away with not doing a good job and then charging more for the service. Completely unprofessional and not a compete repairman. I would stay away!

Gary was called in to fix our dishwasher with wasn't working. He rattled around with the latch and in the process broke it. He didn't have another to replace it with. He then proceeded to pull out the latch on my 2nd dishwasher which was NOT broken and did so without my permission. He damaged a machine that was in perfect working order and then when I got upset and asked why he would touch a machine that was not broken and that I didn't authorized him to work on he threatened to leave. He was told to fix the machine he broke and to put it back in working order. He was rude, beligerant and has a very large chip on his shoulder. I would never ever recommend him. What a terrible experience

My bottom mount refrigerator was leaking water from the freezer because the defrost drain was clogged. As a result there was a sheet of ice at the bottom of the freezer, and some of the ice would melt and leak out. I called Gary over the phone and we agreed that the fix would be $100. He came over and spent 20 minutes to pull out the fridge and removed one part from the back. There was still ice in the freezer. He wanted me to let the fridge defrost for 24 hours rather than remove the ice himself. When asked multiple time, he said he would not remove the ice and became very hostile. I paid him and he left since he was becoming very angry and I have a small child at home.

I had to clear out the ice myself afterwards. If I had defrosted the fridge like he suggested, the ice would have melted and leaked out the front of the freezer, damaging the cabinets surrounding the fridge. Gary didn't finish the job like a professional would have by removing the ice and unclogging the defrost drain as part of the fix. His attitude was terrible.

I called gary last week to fix my Dishwasher, he charge me $200 to to fix part that no need to be fixed. and 4 days later still not working, then I called him and he said its not my not my problem and hand the phone on me.

I was very happy with Gary's service. He was out front, knowledgeable and honest. Came quickly and fixed my leaking dishwasher. I would highly recommend his services, you will not be disappointed. Thanks Gary!

I have used Gary for a few years on multiple properties. The problem I've found is that Gary does not ask what the problem is in any detail before he comes and may not have prepared the circumstances or situation that he needs to repair the appliance. Recently i called him to a condominium for a washer problem. He did not mention that if appliances are stacked we must unstuck them first. I am not aware of any condo where appliances are not stacked. See earlier complaint on Google from Leo. So this is not a new issue he has encountered. You would think then that this would be important information to tell a woman living on her own. Instead he arrives, takes the call out fee and announces to call him back when the machines are unstacked without being in any position to repair the appliance. This is just wrong. I won't be using Gary again.

We are a not for profit operating under a very tight budget. Gary was called in to service dishwashers at three of our locations. Gary was professional, honest about what was worth fixing and what was not. Gary was not always able to respond to our request - likely because he is a good and honest repairman.

Summary: Almost spent $1k on a new fridge because Gary told me he could not diagnose/fix my issue. Called another repair man who fixed my issue in 30 minutes.

My fridge circuit board burnt out, Gary came and replaced it for me in the afternoon. A few hours later, the digital thermometer was showing the freezer only going down a few degrees and the fridge was still room temperature. I called Gary back and he told me to wait over night as he told me it can take a day or up to a few days for the fridge to fully cool.

The next morning, the fridge was a few degrees lower, but still very high from the set temperature. The fridge was still room temperature. Gary came for another visit that week and told me it would take too long and be too expensive to diagnose and I was better off buying a new fridge.

I started doing some online shopping for a new fridge, but then thought I would call another service on Homestars with a higher rating. Found another repair man who came the next morning, diagnosed and fixed it in about 20-30 minutes and saved me from almost going out and spending $1k on a new fridge.

Turns out the fan motor was not working which is seems to be a very simple diagnosis and fix considering the symptoms - freezer slightly cooling, fridge not cooling at all. Anything that requires a little bit of diagnosis or work getting to various components, I would not recommend this service at all. Save your money and find someone with a 9.5+ rating. He was also late both times, despite having set an appointment and having told him I had to be out of the house at a certain time to leave for work.

Reliable, excellent service. Provided immediate service call at evening hours as requested. Knowledgeable about mechanical repairs with no additional charges. Strongly recommend for any service calls. Honest, punctual and professional.

My dish-washer was not draining properly. I showed it to my engineer who said that the electronics had gone and the dish-washer had to be replaced. I called Gary and he came over the same afternoon. He found the problem,fixed it and the item is running perfectly. He save me hundreds of dollars.
Gary is polite,efficient,does excellent work and very knowledgeable and efficient and reasonably priced. Thank you Gary ! 10 0ut of 10 !
