MGB Construction

We hired Mike and his team at MGB Construction to manage a comprehensive condo reno in downtown Toronto. The work included a complete gutting of the space, shower installation, reflooring, painting and installation of new appliances, bathroom vanities and countertops in bathrooms and kitchen. Mike was helpful with suggestions and sourcing assistance on cabinetry. Not only was the final result impressive, but Mike was on time and on budget with sensible solutions to the typical problems that crop up on a work site. His team was courteous and tidy and well able to navigate the bureaucracy of working with condo management. It was a pleasure working with MGB and we would recommend them for any renovation work.

We hired Mike Bean and his crew to complete a renovation on the upstairs of our home. In brief, we were converting our 2-bedroom home into a 3-bedroom. This involved fully gutting our huge master bathroom, which then was divided. One half became a smaller master bathroom and the other half became the third bedroom. Our master bedroom was reconfigured to include huge closets and a more private space for our bed. By the end of the reno, almost our entire top floor was redesigned.
I am overjoyed with the result. The master bedroom is gorgeous. The master bath somehow looks bigger than pre-reno. The third bedroom functions as an office space, which is private and perfect.
I had interviewed four contractors before hiring Mike’s firm. Mike’s quote was very close to the competition’s. It is his character that set him apart and prompted us to hire him. What I appreciated on first impression is Mike’s genuine interest in providing service and value. He had lots of ideas and was polite and helpful from the first meeting. Our first impression was reinforced through the months he and his crew worked on our home. After a lengthy interview process with several highly recommended builders in the GTA, we chose MGB Construction for a 3rd story addition and full gut/reno of our family home in downtown Toronto.

We expected that this was going to be a pretty big (and costly) undertaking, so of course we did our due diligence before giving MGB the green light to move forward.

We walked away from our first set of meetings feeling that they were knowledgable and trustworthy. We had been forewarned by our architect that we had relatively complicated framing and structural work that was required. MGB, unlike some of the other builders we interviewed (who said something to the effect of "we know how to handle this stuff"), was able to walk us through the challenges and how they would approach it.

In terms of the actual construction process, MGB and their trades worked together as an effective team. They met deadlines and the project was constantly moving forward, without delays.

We're really, really happy with how the reno turned out. We get a ton of compliments from our guests about the craftsmanship and attention to detail.

We would strongly recommend using MGB for your next build/home renovation project.

I would highly MGB construction. My family undertook a massive decision to completely renovate our main floor and make an addition by adding a second floor. Mike and his team were incredible. Walls were knocked down, new flooring was added, our kitchen wad completely remodelled, a new bathroom was added to the main floor and the addition of the 2nd floor was amazing. Mike and MGB Construction are very knowledgeable and were very attentive to our needs. The finished work is incredible. Mike was very pleasant to deal with and he really took the time to explain and clarify each stage of the project.

Mike and his crew were excellent. Mike saved me from a terrible "contractor" (someone in way over his head). His quote to finish the work was fair. He finished on time and on budget (except for items we agreed to before additional work was carried out). We are already discussing our next project with Mike. His team do excellent work and they care about the finished product - we had a number of walk-throughs to make sure things were right (first for painting, then an overall one). Also, we have been living out of province - mike was incredibly easy to work with via email and phone. Easily accessible, he responds promptly. He saved us from a disaster and did so in a fair and honest way. I can't recommend him enough!

Mike and his crew exceeded expectations for the entire project. From assisting with the planning stages right till the job was complete. I always felt as if I was a priority throughout the process as Mike would always take my calls and answer any questions. We were extremely happy with how the project moved along its timeline accordingly. The quality of work and finishes is at a very high level, all of our guests who have came by since the renovation constantly compliment on how great the house looks. Mike was straight to the point and fair and honest through out the entire process. Matt and his crew were fantastic and super courteous while in our home, they covered every thing daily and left it uncovered and usable when we needed it. The work was done well and we are super happy with the results. It is nice to have a useful mudroom with the storage we needed and a lovely bathroom that is a pleasure to be in each day.
