My favourite place for curated second hand !

Love coming here, been going here for a year now and it’s so well set up, their vignettes are amazing! My house has become a mini Millionaire’s daughter. Service people are really friendly, they do seem to like working here too. Highly recommend!

The products are good but each store does not know what the other one is doing. Try to have merchandise transferred from one store to another and no one knows if it can be done or the cost of it. You do get tired of receiving all different types of information. This company should have all sales staff aware of the rules. Very unhappy with the information given.

Company Response

Thank you for your reply, I was actually in the Hamilton store when this communication was going on and I totally agree with you! This Wednesday we are having manager meeting to review a few of these situations that have come up with now having four locations!
We take everything that our customers and consignors share with us, this is the only way that we are able to get better at what we do and GROW! That conversation was very confusing within staff as it often depends on the size of the transfer and how many items, but my promise to you is that it will all be fixed by the end of September!
Once again thank you for sharing and hopefully the nest time you can give a us a 10/10 for our IMPROVED SERVICE!
All the best,
Maureen Barnes

Prepare to be gouged

From a purchasers/buyers perspective, it's an overall good experience, lots of really neat stuff to chose from, and always changing. However, try doing business with them as a seller, this is where you see the truce face of this business, and it's not a pretty one. Fees charged are outrageous, they tell you what your possessions are worth and what they will sell it for, and when they will reduce the price. Their customer service is very poor. You are responsible for all costs (shipping), and when your item sells, you cannot access your funds until the 15th of the FOLLOWING month, and they WILL NOT send you the money, it MUST be picked up......unbelievable!! In my case goods were damaged by their driver in transit for which they would not hold themselves accountable. My partner and I were in a jam moving residences which is why we used them at all. Our bedroom suit was worth over $2500 and ended up with $300 in our pockets. After the $180 delivery charge, our net was $120! MD and some lucky buyer ended up with a great deal......we on the other hand got stiffed! I would never ever use these people again, I would definitely use Kijiji first, failing that, I would just give it away before going with MD.

Company Response

Hi Tim, We were sorry to hear that your experience as a consignor was not to your satisfaction. We’ve been in business 8 years and are proud to offer our services to over 5000 consignors between our three store locations. When determining the selling price of items, The Millionaire’s Daughter, will consider such factors as brand, age, condition, and market demand. As a general guideline, consignment pricing is approx. 1/3 of original pricing, although it could be higher or lower based on condition, style, age, marketability etc. We are not an antique shop and do not make any claims to knowing the market value of your piece. We price our items based on what we've sold in the past and what we think our buyers will pay. We very much hope to resolve your experience. While The Millionaire's Daughter is not responsible for damages of any kind due to deliveries, we will be speaking with the delivery team directly. Please find our contact information below if you wish to discuss any further details. maureen@themillionairesdaughter.com

Everything for your home

I visited the Millionaire's Daughter after hearing their radio ad. I was very impressed with the quality, selection and service being provided there. Maureen, who is the owner, will help you with any design challenge you encounter. She is creative and passionate and will take the time to assist you with her catalouge-style memory of all the items in the store.

My favourite thing about the Millionaire's Daughter is the wide variety of furniture. They have everything from traditional to modern to retro items! It's so much fun coming into the store and every day is different. It is definitely worth checking out. Also I have seen designers from TV shopping there! Cool!

I have bought many pieces for my home from teapots to tables.

I have shopped at the Millionaires Daughter on Ottawa Street in Hamilton, Ontario several times and each time was so much fun. They are constantly changing the store and there is always so much to see. I rarely leave without making a purchase.

dining room suite

What a unique store. I searched for months for the perfect dining room suite both new and used. I found myself returning to the Millionaire's Daughter almost weekly as they always had new items and some truly original pieces. Maureen the owner was extremely helpful and friendly and made shopping there such fun.I will definately keep returning even if just to look but most probably will purchase as I haven't come out empty handed yet.
