Window Casing and Window Jamb Extensions
I found the company highly rated on Home stars, which is what really made me decide to hire them. Even though it was pricey, the quality and workmanship was great. A total of 3 winodws had custom jamb extensions put on them... to aviod using quarter round (which I don't like). A window sill was added, along with window casing (of my choosing). He filled in all the holes with wood filler and sanded it down. So its ready to be painted.
I ran into a problem with the retrofit windows upstairs because the moulding I picked out originally was not large enough to nicely cover the chips, dents, or holes in the plaster. So he used casing I had from a previous reno. Acutally gave me his vehicle so I could go buy another piece of casing.
Also another great thing, is he left all the unused materials, including sills. So I can use them when I switch out some of my other windows.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $565.00
- What could this company do to improve their services?
- Be able to discount any unused materials, like casing, or sills. Especially if uncut.
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- When going to buy replacement windows from a big box store make sure every detail is written down. They were supposed to originally do this work. Since the window installers that showed up refused to do any of this work ie. to install any casing, sills, jambs. I will be getting some money back from the big box store.
