Towne Contracting

This is the third time I've used Towne Contracting, they have practically renovated two thirds of my house. First time was in 2013 they completely redid the main floor and kitchen, then in 2017 they completely redid the basement. This year our goal was to complete the last room of our 20 year old house that had not been renovated: the master bath. As usual, Towne did a wonderful job. Worked with lots of care and with good communication. End result was spectacular.

We recently completed a full home renovation and used Towne for almost all of the work. In short, they were the best contractors we have ever worked with, in every aspect. We will definitely use them again and highly recommend them to everyone.

We purchased a two story home with an unfinished basement with plans to gut the entire house, renovate (including a lot of structural work) and finish the basement. We had 5 general contractors come through the house and from the start, we knew Towne was going to be the best fit for us. Steve was very prompt with his communication and provided us with the most detailed quote by far. The price was very competitive and the amount of detail in the quote made us comfortable knowing how he came up with the final numbers.

We met Dan and Tom before the project started to go over the plan and schedule for all of the work. They had many ideas that changed and made our original plan better. We met the rest of the crew at the start of the project and over the next few months they all literally became like family. They treated our house like their own and their workmanship was top notch. Like any large project, there were issues that came up but the guys always gave us several options and made the decision process real easy. The sub trades they brought in throughout the project were also great and did a fantastic job.

One thing that really stood out for us throughout the renovation was their communication. Anytime we had a question or concern, Dan or Tom would get us an answer quickly. It didn't matter what time or day of the week it was, the guys were always prompt in answering our calls and messages. This is something that's hard to find and really goes a long way. Even with the project complete, they still answer our questions promptly and have been great at fixing any issues we have had come up. Really great customer service.

Again, Towne did an amazing job on our house and I would recommend them to everyone. Not only is their work fantastic, they are all honest, caring people who really care about their customers.

Steve, Dan and their crew did an awesome job on our reno. They were efficient, professional, on time and accommodating to changes we requested. Our designer used them on a number of occasions to finalize issues created by other trades. We highly recommend them.

We purchased an older downtown house. We used Towne to renovate the main floor. Steve provided a quote and offered a 2 year warranty on their work. They did a good job considering these older homes are full of surprises. At first we were satisfied and offered to give them a glowing review. However slowly we started to notice some of the workmanship wasn't that great. We have drywall cracking in several areas and loose baseboards in our kitchen that are barely hanging on. We asked Steve repeatedly to send someone to fix this and he kept saying he would. We called him regularly for over a year(!) but he kept putting us off. Then he stopped responding all together. It's unfortunate since these are minor issues that could have been addressed quickly but have gotten worse the longer they remain unfixed. It leaves us with a bad feeling about Towne and we would not recommend them.

We hired Towne Contracting in July/August 2016 for a reno job to a house we had just purchased. We were nervous as we needed the first part done before our move in date, and it was a tight time schedule, so I needed reliable contractors.

We were relieved when they started when they said they were going to, and were there every day. Our job was fairly significant and involved knocking down a wall, creating a walk-through in another, replacing all carpet and laminate with hardwood, painting throughout, plus a couple of other jobs.

As with any renovation, hurdles arose that we had to make decisions on. Due to what I'd read in the other homestars reviews, I felt confident in asking Steve to make a fair recommendation that I would be happy with. We were pleased with how everything turned out and the prices were competitive as well.

Not only that, the crew were awesome. Steve, Dan, Milan, Tom, Andre and Stuart were a pleasure to have in the house. They were super friendly, funny and respectful of the space they were in.

We will for sure use Towne again when we tackle our kitchen and bathrooms.

Difficult and picky customers. Very large (3 month) renovation. Towne did a great job for us, and we recommend them very highly to everyone. Very smart and professional. As always, there were difficult issues and curve balls, but they hit them out of the park (and saved our designer's butt many times). If you can get Towne, do so. You will be very happy.

Thank you for such a wonderful job on our renovation and making this experience a pleasurable one. Working with your crew was such a positive experience, that we are already planning on our next project! Always on time, always on budget, always organized!

From design approval to final inspection; the overall experience exceeded expectations. We are thrilled with our new kitchen and always hear positive feedback from those who visit.

Working with Towne Contracting has been wonderful. They designed and fenovated my kitchen from start to finish. I couldnt have dreamt of a more beautiful kitchen. This was our 3rd time using Steve for a job, and as per usual the job was done on budget and on a timely basis. More importantly, the finished product was how we expected it to come out and probably better. The bonus you get with Steve and Towne is that there is no attitude that most people come to expect from contractors, and that is not just Steve but also his crew. We are very happy customers and we expect to be seeing Steve and his crew soon for our next reno job.

We renovated our condo by replacing ceramic tile floor in our kitchen and hallway with hardwood, installing an Ikea kitchen with quartz counters, replacing floor tiles in two bathrooms and replacing a bath vanity. The kitchen also needed some rearranging of the drywall bulkheads and a number of pot lights were installed.

I contacted Towne Contracting for a quotation based on the reviews on Homestars and also on the recommendation of a couple of local floor and tile suppliers. Steve quickly arranged to visit the condo and take photos and measurements. I was immediately impressed with his polite and professional manner and that he respected my knowledge of home renovation (instead of talking down to me which I have experienced from other contractors!). Steve provided a scope and quotation just a few days later and his price for the work I thought was very fair, so I looked no further.

Towne arrived to start the work on the date promised and set up dust barriers around the work area. Removing the ceramic tile was messy and understandably produced a lot of noise, so we were especially thankful that Towne's crew worked without taking any breaks until they finished the removal, so our condo neighbours wouldn't suffer any longer than necessary!

We had a few frustrations, most notably some days only one worker would show up for an hour or two, so I guess they were a little overloaded with work. For that they lose a star. Being somewhat of a perfectionist (and knowing how a job should be done) I did have a few gripes, but Steve made sure everything was ultimately to my satisfaction and we are very pleased with the end result.
